Christian Yelich LF | MIL
Brewers' Christian Yelich: Takes swings Saturday
Yelich (back) swung in a batting cage Saturday and "will see how he feels tomorrow," Sophia Minnaert of FanDuel Sports Network Wisconsin reports.
A sore back has kept Yelich out of Milwaukee's lineup for each of the Brewers' past four games, but the team hasn't put him on the IL. It thus stands to reason that the veteran slugger could return to action soon if he recovers well from Saturday's session. Jake Bauers has gotten a turn at DH each of the past two days with Yelich on the shelf.

Marcell Ozuna DH | ATL
Braves' Marcell Ozuna: On bench Saturday
Ozuna isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Seattle.
Ozuna will retreat to the bench Saturday after going 1-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts in Friday's series opener. Drake Baldwin will work as Atlanta's designated hitter instead with Sean Murphy behind the plate.

Brewers' Christian Yelich: Sitting fourth straight
Yelich (back) isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Pirates.
Yelich hasn't played since Monday due to lingering back issues, and given the outfielder's history with back problems, the Brewers likely won't risk rushing him back until he's fully healthy. Jake Bauers will draw another start as Milwaukee's DH on Saturday and bat fifth.

Giancarlo Stanton DH | NYY
Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Getting breather Saturday
Stanton isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Blue Jays.
Stanton will get a chance to catch his breath Saturday after going 2-for-4 with a home run in Friday's series opener. While he rests, Aaron Judge will serve as the Yankees' designated hitter, with Jasson Dominguez, Trent Grisham and Cody Bellinger in the outfield.

Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD
Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani: Fans five in Friday's start
Ohtani didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 2-1 loss to the Orioles, allowing three hits and a walk over 3.2 scoreless innings. He struck out five.
He lasted five innings for the first time in 2025 over a season-high 87 pitches in his last trip to the mound, but Ohtani had his workload scaled back a little in this one, getting the hook after 70 pitches (44 strikes) despite striking out the final two batters he faced. Through 12 starts since being cleared to return to the mound, Ohtani has a 3.75 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 49:8 K:BB through 36 innings as the Dodgers stick to a plan that should have him free of any restrictions by the postseason. He's remained an MVP-caliber hitter through it all, and over 632 plate appearances this year he's delivered a .989 OPS, tops in the National League.

Rafael Devers 3B | SF
Giants' Rafael Devers: Power surge continues in rout
Devers went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and a walk Friday in an 8-2 win over the Cardinals.
Devers clubbed his 31st homer of the season and his 16th as a member of the Giants. The star infielder now has six long balls in his last nine games as well. Devers is looking to wrap up the year on a high note -- he's slashing a robust .298/.397/.628 with 12 big flies, four doubles and 26 RBI over his last 141 trips to the plate since the beginning of August.

Pavin Smith RF | ARI
Diamondbacks' Pavin Smith: Transferred to 60-day IL
The Diamondbacks transferred Smith (quadriceps) to the 60-day injured list Friday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.
Smith's season is over after suffering a strained quad earlier this week. The lefty-hitting outfielder and first baseman appeared in just 87 games this season, slashing .258/.362/.434 with eight home runs, 28 RBI, 17 runs scored, two stolen bases and a 41:92 BB:K across 288 trips to the plate.

Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD
Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani: Starting on mound Friday
Ohtani will serve as the Dodgers' starting pitcher for Friday's game in Baltimore.
Ohtani was scratched from his previously scheduled start Wednesday against the Pirates due to an illness, and manager Dave Roberts said Thursday that the 31-year-old would rejoin the rotation Monday versus the Rockies. However, Ohtani has been moved up to Friday instead, and he'll also continue to serve as the Dodgers' designated hitter and leadoff batter. Tyler Glasnow had been slated to start Friday's series opener, but he'll presumably now take the ball Saturday instead after being scratched.

Christian Yelich LF | MIL
Brewers' Christian Yelich: Idle again Friday
Yelich (back) is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Pirates.
Yelich's back flared up before Wednesday's game against Philadelphia, and he'll be out of the lineup Friday for a third straight game due to the issue. Expect Milwaukee to take it day-by-day with the 33-year-old outfielder, but considering Yelich's history of back injuries, the Brewers likely won't rush him back. Jake Bauers will fill the DH spot Friday while Isaac Collins, Jackson Chourio and Sal Frelick fill the outfield from left to right.
