Belt was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a mild left oblique strain, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Belt is expected to miss 10-14 days with the oblique injury. The first baseman has struggled with a .228 average this season, but his defense and veteran presence will certainly be missed while he recovers. Jason Vosler was recalled to fill Belt's spot on the active roster.

Belt (side) is not in the lineup Wednesday at Arizona, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

The Giants were considering sending the 33-year-old for an MRI after left side discomfort resurfaced during Tuesday's contest, so it's hardly a surprise he's out of Wednesday's lineup. Belt should be considered day-to-day for now, but he could be forced to miss some time after missing six consecutive games due to the injury last week.

Brantley (leg) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Brantley will sit for the second game in a row due to the leg injury, though manager Dusty Baker said the veteran isn't a candidate to land on the injured list as a result of the issue, according to Rome. Aledmys Diaz will pick up a start in left field in place of Brantley, who will get another day of rest Thursday with a team off day before the Astros return to action Friday against the Padres in Houston.

Alvarez was scratched from Wednesday's lineup versus the Dodgers with right wrist soreness, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

The 23-year-old was penciled in to bat cleanup as the designated hitter, but he'll instead hit the bench due to the wrist issue. Alvarez is 0-for-13 with eight strikeouts over his past four contests, so the injury could help explain some of his struggles at the plate. He'll have Wednesday plus Thursday's scheduled off day to aid in his recovery before potentially missing any additional games.

Stanton (quadriceps) is expected to be activated from the injured list Friday, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.

The injury has sidelined Stanton since May 13, at which point he was in a 3-for-22 slump with no home runs in that six-game span. Even so, the slugger will slot in near the top of New York's lineup and figures to re-establish himself as a premier power-hitting threat.

Choi is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The lefty-hitting Choi will retreat to the bench with a southpaw (Mike Minor) on the bump for Kansas City. Yandy Diaz will get the start at first base for the Rays, while Austin Meadows serves as the club's designated hitter.

Ozuna was diagnosed with fractures in his ring and middle fingers on his left hand Wednesday but won't require surgery, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Ozuna underwent X-rays that revealed dislocated fingers Tuesday, but his CT scans and other tests Wednesday revealed a more serious issue. Even though he won't need to undergo surgery, Ozuna is expected to miss at least six weeks.

Carpenter served as the designated hitter in an interleague loss to the White Sox on Tuesday and went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run.

It's a testament to how difficult the 2021 season has been for Carpenter that Tuesday's production resulted in both his first double and first multi-hit effort of the campaign. The struggling veteran did not make the starting nine for Wednesday's matinee against Chicago, but he did draw back-to-back starts -- the former at first base -- in the first two games of the series.

Ozuna (finger) is expected to miss at least six weeks, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Ozuna visited a specialist in Atlanta on Wednesday after he dislocated the ring and middle fingers on his left hand Tuesday. His extended absence will likely keep him out until at least July. Ehire Adrianza and Ender Inciarte could see increased playing time in the outfield while Ozuna is sidelined.

Ozuna (finger) isn't starting Wednesday against the Red Sox.

Ozuna's absence from the lineup was expected since he returned to Atlanta after he dislocated the ring and middle fingers on his left hand Tuesday. The 30-year-old will visit with a specialist in Atlanta, and a better idea of his status could be known once the visit is complete. Pablo Sandoval will serve as the designated hitter while Guillermo Heredia starts in left field Wednesday.
