  • Zach Pop RP | PHI

Blue Jays' Zach Pop: Suffers setback on rehab

Pop returned to Toronto on Monday for further evaluation after feeling renewed discomfort in his right hamstring during his most recent rehab appearance Friday with Single-A Dunedin, Scott Mitchell of TSN.ca reports.

Coming out of the weekend, Pop's return from the 15-day injured list appeared imminent, but he's now hit a bump in the road. Even if Pop's re-evaluation reveals nothing overly concerning, he's still likely to put his rehab program on pause for at least a few days.

  • Phil Maton RP | CHC

Astros' Phil Maton: Handed loss versus Angels

Maton (0-1) took the loss Sunday against the Angels after allowing a run on two hits over an inning of work. He struck out one.

Maton relieved J.P. France to start the eighth with the game tied at one apiece and couldn't silence the Angels' bats. He surrendered a leadoff single and then a two-out double, which plated a run to put the Halos in front. The 30-year-old has given up three runs on five hits over his last two innings after he had tossed 10.2 scoreless frames from May 6 through May 30. Overall, he's still been a useful arm out of the bullpen for manager Dusty Baker and now sits at a 1.26 ERA, 0.70 WHIP, 31:4 K:BB and has four holds over 28.2 innings this season.

  • Chris Devenski RP | PIT

Angels' Chris Devenski: Logs win No. 3

Devenski (3-0) threw 1.2 shutout innings to get the win over the Astros on Sunday, allowing just one hit and striking out two in the process.

Devenski began by allowing a leadoff double to Yainer Diaz in the seventh, but went on to retire the next five batters he faced and ended his outing with a strikeout of Yordan Alvarez. The 32-year-old has six straight scoreless outings dating back to May 21. Over that span, Devenski has picked up two holds and two wins and has an 8:0 K:BB in seven innings.

  • Angels' Carlos Estevez: Nabs 14th save

Estevez earned a save over the Astros on Sunday, walking one batter in a scoreless inning.

The game was tight throughout, and Estevez was asked to protect a one-run ninth-inning lead. He did so on just 11 pitches despite issuing a one-out walk. After a shaky spring training, Estevez has established a stranglehold on the Angels' closer role by converting all 14 of his save chances so far. He's posted a 1.42 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 32:11 K:BB over 25.1 innings.

  • Penn Murfee RP | CHW

Mariners' Penn Murfee: Successful start to rehab stint

Murfee (elbow) was credited with a hold in Triple-A Tacoma's win over Sacramento on Sunday, firing a perfect eighth inning during which he recorded two strikeouts.

Kicking off his rehab assignment, Murfee pounded nine of his 15 pitches in for strikes. The right-hander, who's been on the shelf since early May, couldn't have asked for a better start to his journey back to the big-league club, and he's likely to log several more appearances with the Rainiers given the amount of time he's been sidelined.

  • Austin Pruitt RP | TEX

Athletics' Austin Pruitt: Takes third loss Sunday

Pruitt (1-3) took the loss against the Marlins on Sunday, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits over two-thirds of an inning. He struck out one.

Pruitt successfully got the third out in the seventh upon first entering the game to preserve a 5-5 tie, but he ended up on the hook for the loss when the two runners he put on to start the eighth crossed the plate following his exit. Pruitt had generated scoreless efforts in six of his previous seven outings coming into Sunday, so he remains a solid option for manager Mark Kotsay, albeit one that doesn't deliver much fantasy production due to a lack of hold and save opportunities.

  • Royals' Aroldis Chapman: Back in action

Chapman (knee) struck out two in a perfect inning during Sunday's 2-0 win over the Rockies.

Chapman was bothered by a knee issue last week, but he appears fine now. He has a save and three holds while allowing just one run over his last 7.2 innings with a 14:8 K:BB in that span. The southpaw continues to primarily serve as the setup man to Scott Barlow, though the Royals' overall struggles have limited save chances so far. Chapman has a 2.95 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 35:14 K:BB with two saves and seven holds over 21.1 innings.

  • Andres Munoz RP | SEA

Mariners' Andres Munoz: Could return Tuesday

The Mariners are expected to reinstate Munoz (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list ahead of Tuesday's series opener in San Diego, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Though Munoz has been on the shelf since April 9 with a right deltoid strain, he's looked as effective as ever since starting a rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma last week. He's yet to allow a hit over three scoreless innings, striking out three batters in those appearances while displaying his typical upper-90s fastball velocity. Heading into the season, Munoz was projected to be part of a committee at closer with Paul Sewald, but Munoz may have to settle for a setup role upon his return while Sewald has turned in a 2.96 ERA and 0.90 WHIP this season en route to converting all but one of his 12 save chances.

  • Guardians' James Karinchak: Picks up win

Karinchak (2-4) earned the win over the Twins on Sunday after tossing a scoreless sixth inning. He allowed a hit and struck out two.

Karinchak was the first name called out of the bullpen after Triston McKenzie's day was done following five dominant frames. He allowed a leadoff single but was able to get through the inning unscathed. The 29-year-old has not allowed a run over his last seven outings and has picked up two holds and a win over that span. For the year, Karinchak owns a 3.86 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, 36:16 K:BB and has 11 holds over 25.2 innings.

  • Nate Pearson RP | HOU

Blue Jays' Nate Pearson: Backs into win Sunday

Pearson (3-0) blew a save but picked up a win in Sunday's victory over the Mets, giving up two solo home runs in an inning of relief. He struck out one.

The right-hander came into the game having not allowed an earned run in five straight appearances while posting an 11:1 K:BB, but Pearson got taken deep by Starling Marte and Pete Alonso in the sixth inning to erase a 4-2 lead. Fortunately for Pearson and the Blue Jays, Brandon Belt answered back with a two-run shot in the top of the seventh. Pearson appears to be finding a home in the bullpen, delivering a 28.8 percent strikeout rate against a 6.8 walk rate in 18 innings since his promotion.
