  • Royals' Carlos Hernandez: Set to open Monday

Hernandez (thumb) will start Monday's game against the Marlins, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Hernandez exited Friday's game after a callus on his thumb opened up, but he'll return to the mound Monday in Miami to serve as Kansas City's opener. The 26-year-old has a 4.76 ERA across 28.1 innings this season and should cover a frame or two before giving way to bulk pitcher Mike Mayers.

  • Liam Hendriks RP | MIN

White Sox's Liam Hendriks: Earns win Sunday

Hendriks (1-0) pitched a perfect inning and struck out two, earning the win Sunday over the Tigers.

Hendriks had some trouble in his season debut, but he's pitched perfect innings on consecutive days during the weekend series against Detroit. The 34-year-old appears to be settling in, and his usage in the ninth inning of a 2-2 game Sunday is a strong sign for him getting into high-leverage spots. He remains in search of his first save after returning from non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Hendriks will likely remain in a closer committee for a while longer -- Kendall Graveman and Joe Kelly are also part of the White Sox's late-inning mix.

  • Penn Murfee RP | CHW

Mariners' Penn Murfee: Kicks off rehab assignment

Murfee (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma on Sunday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Murfee has been on the shelf for just over a month with right elbow inflammation, so the Mariners may want to see him make more than one appearance in the minors before bringing him back from the 15-day injured list. Before he was sidelined with the injury, Murfee had posted a 1.38 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 15:9 K:BB in 13 innings out of the Seattle bullpen while gathering one win and one hold.

  • Andres Munoz RP | SEA

Mariners' Andres Munoz: Another scoreless rehab outing

Munoz (shoulder) fired a scoreless fourth inning during which he issued a walk and recorded a strikeout in Triple-A Tacoma's loss to Sacramento on Friday.

Munoz's second rehab appearance saw him fire eight of 15 pitches for strikes and put together another scoreless outing. Rainiers play-by-play broadcaster Mike Curto reports the right-hander threw 10 sliders and five fastballs, with the heater sitting between 97 and 99 miles per hour. Munoz's velocity is clearly in formidable shape, lending credence to the notion he may need only a couple more outings at most on the farm before being deemed ready for activation.

  • Freddy Tarnok RP | MIA

Athletics' Freddy Tarnok: Throws live batting practice

Tarnok (shoulder) threw a live batting practice session Saturday, the team's official site reports.

Tarnok is seemingly trending in the right direction, as he also threw a 20-pitch bullpen session May 26 and faced hitters in a simulated game Tuesday. The promising right-hander may be inching closer to a rehab assignment if he doesn't experience any residual effects from Saturday's activity.

  • Josh Fleming RP | TOR

Rays' Josh Fleming: Awaiting MRI results

Fleming (elbow), who was placed on the 15-day injured list Friday, is awaiting the results of an MRI, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The 27-year-old was scheduled to start in Saturday's doubleheader but landed on the shelf with left elbow soreness Friday. Fleming's return timeline could come into focus once the results of the MRI are known.

  • Dany Jimenez RP | ATL

Athletics' Dany Jimenez: Throwing up to 60 feet

Jimenez (shoulder) has begun throwing and has worked up to 60 feet, the team's official site reports.

The report is particularly encouraging considering Jimenez, who's been on the injured list since April 19 with a right shoulder strain, didn't have a throwing program in his sights as recently as the last week of May. The solid early throwing distance is a cautiously optimistic sign, but manager Mark Kotsay confirmed there is still no timetable for Jimenez's return.

  • Kirby Snead RP | SEA

Athletics' Kirby Snead: Rehab assignment on tap

Snead (shoulder) experienced no discomfort after throwing a live batting practice at Oakland's spring training complex in Arizona on Friday and is ready for a minor-league rehab assignment, the team's official site reports.

Snead's latest encouraging step comes on the heels of a 20-pitch bullpen session May 26 and a sim game Tuesday, both which also went off without a hitch. Consequently, the southpaw, who's been sidelined since spring training, appears set to join an affiliate in the coming days for what should be a fairly extensive rehab assignment.

  • Red Sox's Joely Rodriguez: Lands on injured list

Rodriguez was placed on the 15-day injured list Sunday, retroactive to June 1, with left shoulder inflammation, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

The injury was initially deemed a biceps issue after he tweaked something while warming up for Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader, but it's now been diagnosed as shoulder inflammation. Rodriguez will be eligible to return June 16, though it's unclear if he'll be healthy by that point.

  • Red Sox's Brennan Bernardino: Will remain on roster

Bernardino will remain on the roster after serving as the 27th man for the Red Sox for Saturday's doubleheader against the Rays, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

Bernardino will remain with the club with Joely Rodriguez (shoulder) being placed on the 10-day injured list by the Red Sox. In 13 appearances with Boston, Bernardino has pitched well with a 2.93 ERA and 1.30 WHIP over 15.1 innings.
