Bautista (5-1) earned the win Thursday versus the Rays. He hit a batter and struck out three without surrendering a hit or a walk over two scoreless innings.

Bautista kept the game tied in the ninth inning and protected a one-run lead in the 10th. He erased his plunking of Luke Raley with a double play to end the game. Bautista is on an 11.1-inning scoreless streak, giving up just seven baserunners while posting a 20:2 K:BB in that span. The Baltimore closer has a dominant 0.96 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and career-high 91 strikeouts through 47 innings while adding 26 saves in 31 chances this season.

Foley picked up the save in Thursday's 3-0 victory over Kansas City, working around a hit in a scoreless inning.

After Alex Lange worked two of Detroit's previous three games, Foley was called upon Thursday to protect a three-run lead in the ninth inning. The 27-year-old right-hander worked around a leadoff single, coaxing a double-play ball off the bat of Salvador Perez to earn his fourth save of the season. While Lange seems to have steadied himself as the Tigers' closer, Foley has been good in a setup role, pitching to a 2.13 ERA with a 1.06 WHIP and 37:9 K:BB across 42.1 innings this year.

Bowman signed a one-year, major-league contract with the Yankees on Thursday and was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Bowman opted out of a previous minor-league agreement with the Yankees last weekend, but he's back in the fold now on a major-league deal and might get a look in the Bronx at some point down the stretch. The 32-year-old reliever hasn't appeared in a game at the MLB level since 2019.

White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said Thursday that Hendriks (elbow) peaked at 93.8 mph in his simulated game Wednesday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Grifol said that Hendriks' velocity was "up" in the session, which must have been in reference to a bullpen session over the weekend considering the reliever has averaged 95.4 mph in his five appearances with the White Sox this season. The skipper wasn't sure what was next for Hendriks, saying the pitcher will "go in and talk to the trainers and we'll see what our next step is going to be." Hendriks has been out since early June with right elbow inflammation.

De Leon (elbow) underwent successful season-ending Tommy John surgery Wednesday along with additional procedures on his arm, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

The Twins didn't go into detail on what the other procedures entailed, but De Leon was apparently diagnosed with more than a torn ligament in his right elbow after the team announced just under a month ago that he would require season-ending surgery. The Tommy John surgery is the second of De Leon's career, as he previously required the operation in 2018. In addition to missing the rest of the current season, the 30-year-old right-hander will most likely be sidelined for the entire 2024 campaign, as well.

Coulombe (3-1) allowed one hit and struck out three without walking a batter over 2.1 scoreless innings to earn the win Wednesday over the Dodgers.

Coulombe was fresh, having not pitched since Sunday, and he was able to get seven outs on 25 pitches after a short start from Dean Kremer. This was Coulombe's longest appearance of the season and just the fourth time in 40 outings he's exceeded one inning. The southpaw has a 2.70 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 41:7 K:BB while adding a save, 14 holds and two blown saves over 33.1 innings this season. He'll likely continue to be a versatile part of the Orioles' bullpen, with the ability to take on high-leverage assignments as necessary.

Hentges (1-2) allowed four runs on three hits and a walk in one-third of an inning to take the loss Wednesday versus the Pirates.

Hentges entered with one on and one out, but the Pirates were able to rally against him. This was the fourth time in eight appearances in July that he's allowed multiple runs. The rough stretch has inflated his ERA to 6.31 with a 1.44 WHIP and 23:12 K:BB over 25.2 innings this season. While he's collected eight holds this season, Hentges may be kept away from high-leverage situations while he's struggling.

Munoz (2-3) took the loss against the Twins on Wednesday, allowing an earned run on two hits and two walks over one inning. He struck out one.

The hard-throwing right-hander suffered yet another stumble, marking the third time in his last eight appearances in which he's allowed at least one earned run. Munoz's troubles Wednesday came about due to a combination of some small ball and an error, as he yielded singles to Max Kepler and Willi Castro before Tom Murphy's passed ball allowed Kepler to cross the plate with the tie-breaking run. Munoz still has a pair of wins, nine holds and one save, but he's posted a 6.48 ERA and 1.44 WHIP over the 8.1 innings covering that aforementioned uneven eight-appearance sample.

Castillo was optioned to Triple-A Omaha on Thursday.

He's clearing out to make room for Zack Greinke, who has returned from the injured list to start Thursday. Castillo holds a 4.24 ERA over five appearances with the Royals this season as a multi-inning reliever.

Felipe (1-0) earned the win in Wednesday's 6-5 win over the Red Sox, striking out two over 1.2 hitless innings.

Felipe relieved Lucas Erceg in the sixth inning, striking out a pair of Red Sox to strand the tying run on second base. The 25-year-old Felipe then set the Red Sox down in order in the seventh en route to his first MLB victory. The rookie right-hander has impressed since he was called up in early July -- he sports a 1.42 ERA with a 0.95 WHIP and 6:4 K:BB through his first 6.1 innings with the A's.
