Kahnle (biceps) will make one more rehab appearance Thursday with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Meredith Marakovits of YES Network reports.

Kahnle has made two scoreless appearances so far and, presuming Thursday's outing goes well, figures to be cleared to rejoin the Yankees' bullpen. The right-hander has been out all season with right biceps tendinitis.

The Royals selected Wittgren's contract from Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.

Wittgren earned a look by posting a 1.25 ERA and 19:6 K:BB over 21.2 innings with Omaha. The veteran reliever will provide the Royals with a fresh bullpen arm.

The Royals optioned Castillo to Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.

Castillo was needed for 4.2 innings out of the bullpen in Sunday's loss to the White Sox, so he probably wasn't going to be available for at least another day or two. Nick Wittgren was called up from Triple-A to replace Castillo on the 26-man active roster.

Mayers will start Tuesday's game against the Tigers in Kansas City, Pete Grathoff of The Kansas City Star reports.

Mayers had been working as a member of the rotation at Triple-A Omaha prior to his promotion to the Royals last week, but the results were less than encouraging (6.88 ERA in eight starts). He's not a recommended fantasy streamer versus Detroit and will could move back to the bullpen or to Triple-A as soon as this weekend, when Daniel Lynch (shoulder) may be ready to return from the 15-day injured list.

A decision on whether to activate Cimber (back) could come as soon as Tuesday, MLB.com reports.

Cimber had been slated to for activation Monday, but the Jays elected to have him throw another bullpen session that day before re-evaluating him. He's been out since late April with a right rhomboid strain.

Davidson (leg) retired two batters and allowed one earned run on two hits in his most recent relief appearance Friday in the Angels' 5-4 win over the Twins.

Davidson had exited his previous relief outing last Tuesday against the Orioles after being struck on the leg by a line drive, but he avoided a serious injury and was available out of the bullpen after just a couple days of rest. The southpaw is expected to serve as a middle-innings or mop-up option out of the bullpen throughout the season.

White (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Sunday and is slated to throw another one Wednesday, MLB.com reports.

White has been out all season with an elbow injury but was recently pulled off his rehab assignment because of shoulder fatigue. He'll have to get built back up once he's ready for rehab games again and could be in line for a long-relief role for the Blue Jays once he's activated.

Barlow dropped to 1-3 in Monday's 8-5 loss to the Tigers in 10 innings after allowing three runs (two earned) on two hits and two walks with three strikeouts across 1.2 innings.

After keeping the game tied in the ninth inning, Barlow saw his scoreless streak end at 10.2 innings after he yielded a three-run double to Javier Baez in the top of the 10th. Barlow has a 4.26 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 27:10 K:BB through 19 innings this season, and he's generally pitched well of late, though save chances remain sparse while pitching for the 14-35 Royals. He's converted six of his seven save opportunities to date.

Clase picked up the save in Monday's 3-0 win over the White Sox, tossing a perfect ninth inning while recording one strikeout.

Clase was called on to preserve Cleveland's shutout, and he succeeded by retiring Luis Robert, Yoan Moncada and Clint Frazier in order. It was a nice bounce-back effort for the closer, who blew a save and took the loss during his last appearance. Clase's strikeout numbers are down while his ERA and WHIP are up from previous years, but the right-hander has still recorded an MLB-high 16 saves.

Hernandez allowed two hits and struck out two over a scoreless inning in Monday's 6-4 loss to the Pirates.

Hernandez finished the game following another Texas bullpen meltdown. The fact Hernandez wasn't one of the culprits gives the club a sliver of hope he's getting over a recent stretch of poor results. Expected to be an eighth-inning bridge, Hernandez had allowed eight runs (three home runs) over his last 1.2 innings. This was the second consecutive outing in which he did not pitch in a high-leverage situation.
