Clase struck out two in a perfect inning to earn the save in Wednesday's 11-10 win over the Twins.
There were a number of momentum shifts in this contest, but Clase finished it off with a drama-free frame. He needed just eight pitches to pick up his 17th save in 19 chances this year. The closer remains one of the more dominant relievers in the majors with a 1.48 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 33:4 K:BB through 30.1 innings. He hasn't allowed a run in his last 16 innings.

Twins' Jorge Alcala: Set to resume throwing
Alcala (elbow) will resume his throwing program next week, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Alcala has been on the injured list since April 12 with right elbow inflammation. He made a rehab appearance June 1 but was later shut down again with tightness in his pitching elbow. He's still likely a long way away from returning, but at least he's showing some progress and his setback wasn't season ending.

Astros' Ryan Pressly: Notches 14th save
Pressly didn't allow a baserunner and had two strikeouts in a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Mets.
Pressly threw 10 of his 14 pitches for strikes as he retired the Mets in order with minimal difficulty. The right-hander allowed runs in his first two appearances of June but has given up only two hits across his past four outings. He has a 2.41 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 15:6 K:BB over 18.2 innings while going 14-for-16 in save chances thus far in 2022.

Yankees' Ryan Weber: Back with New York
Weber signed a minor-league deal with the Yankees on Wednesday and will report to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Conor Foley of The Scranton Times-Tribune reports.
The veteran right-hander recently elected free agency after being designated for assignment by the Yankees, but he's quickly back with the organization. Weber allowed one earned run over 3.2 frames during his lone big-league outing of the season, and he has a 2.95 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 15:1 K:BB over 21.1 innings at the Triple-A level.

Royals' Gabe Speier: Returns to minors
Speier was optioned to Triple-A Omaha on Wednesday, Lynn Worthy of The Kansas City Star reports.
Speier returned from the COVID-19 injured list last week and will now head back to the minors. The left-hander has a 2.33 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 14:5 K:BB over 19.1 innings this season for the Royals, so it should only be a matter of time before he's back in the majors.

Angels' Elvis Peguero: Back in big leagues
Peguero was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.
The 25-year-old made two appearances for the Angels in early May and will now rejoin the major-league club. Peguero surrendered three runs over 1.1 innings between those two outings, but he's pitched better at Triple-A with a 3.55 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 33:5 K:BB across 25.1 innings.

Angels' Jimmy Herget: Out with shoulder injury
Herget was placed on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with a right shoulder impingement.
Herget presumably picked up the injury during Tuesday's matchup with the Royals when he allowed two runs on one hit and a walk over one inning. It's not believed to be a serious issue, but the right-hander won't be eligible to be activated until July 7.

Yankees' Albert Abreu: Set to join major-league bullpen
The Yankees activated Abreu on Thursday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
Abreu was claimed off waivers from the Royals on Tuesday, and he'll join the Yankees' major-league bullpen ahead of their weekend series against Houston. The right-hander has posted a 3.46 ERA and 2.00 WHIP in 13 innings over 11 relief appearances with the Rangers and Royals this year. Clarke Schmidt was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to open up a spot on the 26-man active roster for Abreu.

Garcia wasn't available during Wednesday's win over the White Sox due to left side discomfort, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Garcia tossed a scoreless inning during Tuesday's win over the White Sox, but he's apparently dealing with a side issue following the outing. The Blue Jays have a scheduled day off Thursday, and the right-hander will be re-evaluated ahead of Friday's series opener against Milwaukee.

Ortega was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.
Ortega was demoted after giving up five runs (one earned) over two innings during his last appearance for the Angels on June 11, and he'll return to the majors ahead of Wednesday's matchup with the Royals. The 25-year-old has appeared in 20 big-league games this year and has a 3.81 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 24:12 K:BB over 26 innings.
