Staumont (2-2) struck out three and didn't allow a baserunner in 1.1 scoreless innings to earn the win versus the Yankees on Tuesday.

The right-hander was called upon to relieve Domingo Tapia to end the sixth inning, and Kansas City pulled ahead in the bottom of the sixth. Staumont has been solid recently with just three hits allowed and seven strikeouts in a scoreless streak that stands at 4.2 innings. He owns a 3.18 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 52:20 K:BB through 45.1 innings. While he's seen late-inning work at times (five saves, five holds), he's typically entered games earlier in recent weeks.

Payamps was optioned to Triple-A Omaha on Wednesday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Payamps was recalled Tuesday, but he didn't make his team debut during Tuesday's game against the Yankees. He made 22 relief appearances with the Blue Jays earlier in the year and recorded a 2.70 ERA and 1.07 WHIP in 30 innings. The right-hander's demotion will make room for Brady Singer (shoulder), who was reinstated from the 10-day injured list ahead of Wednesday's scheduled start.

Lopez will start Wednesday's game against the Twins in Minnesota, Vinnie Duber of NBC Sports Chicago reports.

Over his five seasons with the White Sox, Lopez has picked up 82 starts, but he's found a niche as a high-leverage reliever in his eight appearances out of the bullpen in 2021, logging a 1.29 ERA in 14 innings while limiting opposing hitters to a .146 average. He'll be thrust into starting duty on short notice while the White Sox rejigger their pitching schedule following Carlos Rodon's (shoulder) move to the IL, but expect the White Sox to limit Lopez's workload. He'll be pitching on two days' rest and hasn't covered more than three innings since getting a call-up from Triple-A Charlotte in mid-July, so Lopez shouldn't be expected to go through the Minnesota batting order more than once. Michael Kopech -- who hasn't pitched since Saturday -- could be a candidate to work multiple innings behind Lopez.

Foster was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday.

Foster returned to the minors Friday, but he'll return to the major-league club after Carlos Rodon (shoulder) was placed on the 10-day injured list. The right-hander has made 28 relief appearances for the White Sox this year, and he's posted a 5.64 ERA and 1.38 WHIP in 30.1 innings.

Luetge is slated to serve as the Yankees' opening pitcher in Wednesday's game against the Royals, Meredith Marakovits of YES Network reports.

With six starting pitchers currently residing on the injured list, the Yankees will turn to Luetge to lead off a bullpen game in the series finale. Luetge has maxed out at four innings this season, but since he hasn't covered more than two frames since April, the Yankees may not ask him to go more than once through the batting order. Brody Koerner -- who had been starting at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre before being called up Aug. 3 -- could be a candidate to fill multiple innings behind Luetge.

Brasier (concussion) allowed a walk over a scoreless relief inning for Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday.

This was Brasier's first game action in nearly a year, and the results were encouraging given the erratic performance of Boston's bullpen of late. He walked the first batter he faced before inducing two groundouts, including an inning-ending double play. It's not hard to envision Brasier pitching late in games or giving an occasional breather to closer Matt Barnes, who has suffered three losses in his last four appearances and has a 7.88 ERA in 10 outings since the All-Star break.

King (shoulder) allowed one hit and one walk over a scoreless relief inning for Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday.

King had been working as a multi-inning reliever and tandem starter with the Rangers before landing on the injured list July 9, retroactive to July 7, with left-shoulder inflammation. It's unclear if the Rangers want him to stretch out before returning to the majors or if he'll return immediately as a traditional reliever.

Iglesias struck out two in a perfect seventh inning during the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Blue Jays, recording his 25th save of the season in a 6-3 win.

The former Red hasn't allowed an earned run in eight straight appearances, posting a 12:1 K:BB over 7.2 innings during that stretch. On the season, Iglesias has a 2.94 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and career-best 39.0 percent strikeout rate and 4.5 percent walk rate.

Rodriguez didn't factor into the decision in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Blue Jays, allowing one run on six hits and two walks over four innings in a 6-3 win. He struck out two.

Making his second big-league start, the right-hander held a potent Toronto lineup mostly in check despite a lot of traffic on the basepaths. Rodriguez tossed 42 of 68 pitches for strikes, and it's not clear whether the Angels will keep him around in the rotation or send him back to Triple-A to continue getting work as a starter.

Swanson (0-2) lost Tuesday's 5-4 affair with the Rangers, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits with a strikeout in one inning.

Swanson entered a tie game in the 10th and recorded two outs before surrendering two singles to suffer the defeat. The 27-year-old righty is in the midst of a breakout season, though he has two losses and two blown saves in his last four appearances, causing his ERA to spike from 0.47 to 2.01.
