Romano (5-1) earned the win in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Red Sox. He tossed a scoreless inning, fanning two.

Romano pitched the seventh inning and kept the game scoreless with a sharp outing, as he needed only 14 pitches (eight strikes) to get the job done. The right-hander, who has gone 9-for-10 in save chances this season, should remain Toronto's main late-inning arm going forward.

Nelson was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday.

Nelson was promoted from Triple-A on Saturday and will return there a day later without pitching in the majors. The 25-year-old has a 9.45 ERA, 2.17 WHIP and 22:14 K:BB across 13.1 innings for the Yankees this season.

Pivetta didn't factor into the decision in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Blue Jays, tossing six scoreless innings of one-hit ball. He walked one and struck out five.

Pivetta was coming off four straight outings in which he gave up at least three runs, so this was an excellent bounce-back effort for him. He has only two quality starts across six appearances since the beginning of July, a span in which he's posted a 4.09 ERA.

Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said Akin is scheduled to start Tuesday's game against the Tigers, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

After Alexander Wells was demoted to Triple-A Norfolk following a brutal outing against the Yankees on Tuesday, the writing was on the wall for Akin to rejoin the rotation. Though he shined in long relief of Wells -- he tossed three scoreless innings and allowed only baserunner -- Akin had posted an 8.14 ERA and 1.83 WHIP in 48.2 innings with the big club. Even in AL-only leagues, Akin makes for a risky starting option for fantasy managers looking to preserve their ratios.

Barnes (6-3) made two appearances in Saturday's doubleheader against the Blue Jays. He was tagged with the loss in the first game and with the win in the second one.

Barnes gave up a walkoff homer to Marcus Semien in the first game of the doubleheader, but he bounced back in the nightcap and pitched a scoreless inning to pick up his sixth win of the campaign. The homer to Semien is the only run Barnes has allowed in his last 10 appearances, and his 2.40 ERA across 46 appearances this season represents a career-best mark for him.

The Orioles recalled Wells from Triple-A Norfolk ahead of Sunday's game against the Rays.

Wells was demoted Tuesday following a brutal start against the Yankees in which he was lit up for six runs in 2.1 innings. Because the Orioles moved Ryan Mountcastle (concussion) to the 7-day injured list Sunday, Wells was eligible to rejoin the Orioles before the minimum 10 days. He'll be working in a long-relief capacity this time around, as manager Brandon Hyde named Keegan Akin the Orioles' new fifth starter, according to Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com.

Loaisiga earned the save against the Mariners on Saturday by pitching a perfect ninth inning.

With Aroldis Chapman (elbow) placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday, Loaisiga got the call to preserve a one-run ninth-inning lead. The right-hander handled the job with aplomb, needing only eight pitches to set down the side in order. It's unclear how long Chapman will be out of action, but Loaisiga -- who has impressed with a 2.48 ERA and 53:11 K:BB across 54.1 innings this season -- looks to be the primary candidate for save opportunities in his absence.

Rijo was placed on the 7-day injured list at High-A Cedar Rapids with a sprained right elbow, TwinsDaily.com reports.

Rijo missed most of the first half of the minor-league season with a forearm injury, so this is a worrisome development despite the lack of details. He had appeared in just four games for Cedar Rapids and allowed seven runs in 6.1 innings.

Stanek allowed one hit and struck out one over a scoreless seventh inning to pick up his 14th hold in Saturday's 4-0 win over the Twins.

For the second straight game, manager Dusty Baker deployed a bullpen alignment of Stanek, Kendall Graveman and Ryan Pressly for innings seven through nine. While his ERA sits at 3.72, Stanek has been consistent overall out of the bullpen and has earned a role pitching in the final third of games. Aside from two outings in which he allowed a combined nine runs in 1.1 innings, Stanek has posted a 2.11 ERA with 58 strikeouts over the other 47 innings pitched.

Barria didn't factor into the decision during Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Dodgers, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks with five strikeouts in six innings.

Barria struggled out of the gate, permitting two runs on two hits and a walk in the first inning, but he settled down thereafter to allow just one more run in the seventh inning. This continues a strong three-start stretch since Barria rejoined the rotation July 25, in which the 25-year-old has allowed five runs in 19.2 total innings.
