Manaea (shoulder) recorded 12 strikeouts and allowed just two hits and one walk through seven scoreless innings in Triple-A Las Vegas' win over Tacoma on Saturday,

If the Athletics needed one more start out of Manaea to convince them he was ready for activation, then Saturday's fit the bill in every way imaginable. The left-hander worked up to 99 pitches, affirmatively answering any questions about whether his arm is sufficiently stretched out. His swing-and-miss capability was on full display as well, and Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports Manaea could be part of a possible six-man rotation during September, a month in which the Athletics will play 16 consecutive games at one point. "There is a potential for anything," manager Bob Melvin said. "We play seven games, have an off-day, then have 16 in a row. We'll be in September at that time, but that's a pretty long stretch. We'll see. I'm not sure yet."

The Orioles recalled Scott from Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday.

He'll rejoin the big club after a two-week stint in the minors following John Means' move to the Family Medical Emergency List. Scott will provide the Orioles with another right-handed option out of the bullpen but likely won't be asked to pitch in high-leverage spots after serving up 24 earned runs in 13.1 innings across his prior 10 appearances in the majors this season.

Peters (3-2) took the loss Saturday at Houston after surrendering five runs on six hits over 4.2 innings. He walked two and struck out two.

Peters served up a two-run homer to Michael Brantley and a three-run homer to Alex Bregman before he was pulled in the fifth inning. The 26-year-old has given up 10 runs (nine earned) in his last two outings, and he'll look to get back on track versus the Red Sox next weekend.

Hand struck out one and allowed one hit in a scoreless ninth inning to record the save Saturday against Kansas City.

Hand allowed a leadoff single on his second pitch of the frame, but he was able to strand the baserunner at first base. The 29-year-old delivered his second straight scoreless save after blowing his previous three chances by giving up a combined five runs. Hand has a 3.23 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 77:16 K:BB while converting 31 of 36 save opportunities this season.

Law pitched 1.2 innings Saturday, walking two and striking out two to earn the save in a 7-5 win over the Mariners.

It's Law's fourth save of the year, all of which have come in August. Over 11 appearances, the right-hander has pitched to a 2.08 ERA this month. For the year, Law has a 4.96 ERA and 1.55 WHIP with 56 strikeouts in 49 innings. It's expected Law will return to a setup role when Ken Giles returns from the paternity list.

Stewart (3-0) tossed five innings Saturday, allowing three runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out four to earn the win over the Mariners on Saturday.

Working as a primary pitcher, the only blemish on Stewart's line was a three-run homer by Mariners catcher Omar Narvaez in the fifth inning. The Blue Jays rallied for four runs in the seventh inning to put Stewart in line for his third win of the season. In 18.1 innings this season, Stewart has compiled a 6.87 ERA, but he's pitched to a 3.77 ERA in three appearances for the Blue Jays. The right-hander is next expected to make an appearance versus the Astros on Friday.

Rogers retired all five batters he faced -- including three by strikeout -- to secure the save in Saturday's win over the Tigers.

Rogers entered with one out in the eighth inning and runners on first and second, but he escaped the frame with no issues and delivered again in the ninth to close things out. The 28-year-old is 20-for-26 in save chances with a 2.51 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 75:10 K:BB this season.

Pruitt allowed six runs on five hits with one walk and six strikeouts across 5.2 innings in a no-decision against the Orioles on Saturday.

The plan was for Pruitt to be the primary pitcher Saturday, but he may have been pressed into service quicker because Jose Alvarado suffered an elbow injury, leaving after just one out. Pruitt gave up six of the seven runs Baltimore scored, but because the first run the Orioles tallied was charged to Alvarado, Pruitt avoided taking the loss. Still, the Rays recalled the right-hander Saturday, and this outing isn't going to help keep him in the bigs. He is 2-0 with a 5.57 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 27 strikeouts in 32.1 innings this season.

Beeks will work behind an opener Sunday against the Orioles, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Beeks will follow opener Diego Castillo in the series finale and will attempt to break a string of two straight losses. Beeks has worked as a primary pitcher for most of the season and has a 4.10 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 75:35 K:BB over 90 innings.

Alvarado was placed on the 10-day injured list with left elbow inflammation after Saturday's loss at Baltimore, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Alvarado worked as the opener Saturday and allowed one run while recording only one out, and he threw only nine of his 24 pitches for strikes. According to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times, the 24-year-old couldn't specifically describe the pain, but he'll return to Tampa Bay and undergo an MRI on Monday.
