The White Sox recalled Covey from Triple-A Charlotte on Monday.

While he's up with the big club, Covey will provide the White Sox with a fresh arm out of the bullpen and could be a candidate to start Thursday against the Red Sox in the event Lucas Giolito (hamstring) experiences an unexpected setback that delays his return from the 10-day injured list. Assuming Giolito is good to go Thursday, however, Covey could be a prime candidate for a demotion to the minors in order to open up a spot on the active roster.

Stanek will serve as the Rays' opening pitcher in Monday's game against the Royals.

It's unlikely that Stanek will be asked to record more than six outs before exiting in the contest in favor of Yonny Chirinos, who is on tap to work as the Rays' primary pitcher out of the bullpen. As was the case last season, Stanek has been generally effective while bouncing between the opener role and more traditional usage out of the bullpen. Over 13.2 innings this season, Stanek has allowed only two runs on nine hits and three walks while striking out 13.

Colome struck out two batters and allowed one baserunner on a walk in his fifth save of the year during a 4-1 victory against the Tigers on Sunday.

The 30-year-old threw eight of his 13 pitches for strikes, meaning he only had one ball combined against the three hitters he retired. Colome is pitching fine this season, but this was his first save since April 15. His four appearances since then haven't been in save opportunities. Colome is 5-for-5 in those chances with an overall 2.31 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 10 strikeouts in 11.2 innings this season.

Pressly allowed a hit and struck out two over a scoreless inning to earn his second save in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Indians.

Roberto Osuna, Houston's closer, was not used to save this game after he pitched two innings (24 pitches) to pick up a win Saturday. Pressly continued an impressive start to the season. He's yet to allow a run or a walk over 12.1 innings.

Thornton allowed one run on two hits and five walks while striking out seven over five innings Sunday in a no-decision against the Athletics.

Thornton's lone run allowed came in the third inning on a double to left field, though he racked up a high pitch count by handing out five free passes. The 25-year-old fired 103 pitches (56 strikes) prior to his removal from the contest. Thornton had struggled in his past three outings entering the day, so while he didn't get credit for the win, it was good to see him get back on track. He owns a 5.08 ERA with a 33:12 K:BB over 28.1 innings this season.

Swanson (0-3) yielded nine runs (six earned) on 11 hits across four innings while taking the loss to Texas on Sunday. He struck out two batters and gave up two homers.

The 6-foot-3 rookie turned in his second consecutive ugly outing. He never really settled in Sunday, allowing a pair of two-run shots to Hunter Pence and Elvis Andrus in the third inning and later allowed three runs in the fifth without recording an out. He now owns a 6.62 ERA in 17.2 innings, but his 14:2 K:BB is promising. If he sticks around with Seattle, his next start should be next Sunday against Cleveland.

Lopez (2-3) allowed one unearned run on two hits and three walks while striking out a career-high 14 batters in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Tigers.

Over his last three outings -- all quality starts -- Lopez has halved an ERA that was 12.15 after his first two starts of the season. He was tagged for six home runs in the first two appearances but has settled in nicely since, giving up three earned runs on 14 hits and five walks while striking out 25 over 18 innings. The right-hander cited his ability to command his fastball up in the zone, per Scott Merkin of MLB.com. "I know I have good velocity with my fastball. It's not going to be easy for them to hit my fastball when I'm able to perform and to hit the spot I want to hit." Lopez next toes the rubber Friday at home against Boston.

Ortiz was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.

Ortiz was called up from Triple-A earlier in the day, and although he wasn't called on to pitch in the series finale, he'll go right back down Norfolk, where he's accrued a 5.87 ERA with an unimpressive 8:11 K:BB over 15.1 frames.

Trivino (thumb) threw off the mound on Sunday and is likely to be available in the Athletics' upcoming series against the Red Sox, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Trivino has battled a thumb injury for much of the past week, but he still may be able to avoid a trip to the injured list. After throwing off the mound prior to Sunday's action, he hopes to be ready to return as an option out of the bullpen for the team's upcoming series against Boston, which begins Monday.

Armstrong was claimed off waivers by the Orioles on Sunday, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.

Armstrong was designated for assignment by the Mariners on Thursday and now has a new home in Baltimore. Kubatko also noted that Armstrong is out of options so will be placed on the team's 25-man roster once he reports. Armstrong has struggled early on this season, allowing six earned runs in just 3.2 innings of work, and figures to serve as more depth in team's bullpen.
