  • Sean Manaea SP | NYM

Athletics' Sean Manaea: Allows four runs in loss Tuesday

Manaea (4-4) allowed four runs on seven hits in Tuesday's loss to the Astros, striking out three and walking zero in 5.2 innings.

This was the second consecutive start in which Manaea allowed four runs, bringing his ERA above 2.00 for the first time this season. Manaea still sports an excellent .170 batting average against, as well as an 0.72 WHIP. Additionally, the lefty has a 45:7 K:BB through 55.1 innings. He will next face off with the Red Sox in Boston.

  • Drew Pomeranz RP | CHC

Red Sox's Drew Pomeranz: Pitches well in no-decision

Pomeranz (1-1) took a no-decision in Tuesday's loss to the Yankees, allowing two earned runs on four hits and two walks over six innings. He recorded six strikeouts.

Pomeranz appeared ready to exit the game in the second inning with an apparent fingernail issue on his left index finger, but remained in the game and pitched well for Boston. Giancarlo Stanton got the best of the 29-year-old with a pair of solo home runs, but he otherwise kept the Yankees' bats quiet. Pomeranz has put together two straight quality starts after a pair of rough outings to begin his season, and now has a 5.23 ERA and 1.50 WHIP with 20 strikeouts across 20.2 innings.

  • Yankees' Aroldis Chapman: Earns eighth save

Chapman earned his eighth save of the season with one strikeout in a scoreless ninth inning against the Red Sox on Tuesday.

Chapman did hit Jackie Bradley with a 103 mph fastball with two down in the inning, but quickly retired Christian Vazquez to end the game. The 30-year-old has blown one save on the season and has racked up 31 strikeouts and five walks over 16 innings.

  • Twins' Brusdar Graterol: Hits DL with back spasms

Graterol was placed on the disabled list at Low-A Cedar Rapids with back spasms, Brandon Warne of The Athletic Minnesota reports.

Once he returns to full health, Graterol will look to build on his strong start to the season. Over two games (8.2 innings) the 19-year-old has allowed one earned run on six hits. He's yet to walk a batter and has fanned 11.

  • White Sox's Hector Santiago: Will have start skipped

Santiago will be skipped this turn in the rotation, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

Contrary to previous reports, Santiago is not expected to make his scheduled start Saturday against the Cubs. Off days allow the White Sox to use only four starters for a brief period, so James Shields will throw Saturday with Lucas Giolito bumping up to Sunday. Santiago has a 6.00 ERA and a 14.4 percent walk rate in 24 innings so far this season.

  • Ryan Yarbrough RP | NYY

Rays' Ryan Yarbrough: Set to start Wednesday

Yarbrough will start Wednesday against the Braves, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

As expected, Yarbrough will step into the starting rotation on at least a short-term basis with Yonny Chirinos (elbow) expected to miss around a month. The 26-year-old held his own during the team's "bullpen day" Friday, tossing five scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and striking out four. While he owns a respectable 3.33 ERA through 24.1 innings this season, Yarbrough will have his hands full against a difficult Braves lineup.

  • Nate Pearson RP | KC

Blue Jays' Nate Pearson: Set to miss 4-to-6 weeks

Pearson (forearm) is expected to miss four-to-six weeks while recovering from the broken ulna he sustained in Monday's contest.

It's certainly not ideal given the 21-year-old missed the early part of the season with an oblique injury, but at least there's a reasonable timetable for his return. Pearson allowed two runs in 1.2 innings in his first start of the season Monday, and despite rave reviews heading into the season, those watching his appearance noted that his fastball was straight and elevated, which led to a lot of hard contact.

  • Chad Green RP | TOR

Yankees' Chad Green: Dominant relief run carrying over in 2018

    Green sports a 2.08 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 25:4 K:BB in 17.1 innings (14 appearances) this season.

He logged a 1.75 FIP and 34.0 K-BB% in 2017 and has a 1.73 FIP and 30.9 K-BB% so far this season, so he has picked up right where he left off in his breakout campaign. He trails only Aroldis Chapman, Adam Ottavino and Josh Hader in fWAR among relief pitchers (0.8 fWAR), and can be deployed confidently in almost all roto formats, even as a non closer.

  • Nate Pearson RP | KC

Blue Jays' Nate Pearson: Suffers broken ulna

Pearson suffered a broken ulna in Monday's debut for High-A Dunedin, Jason Woodell of Baseball Prospectus reports.

He was hit by a comebacker in the second inning of his first start of the season after missing the first month with an oblique injury. It's a tough pill to swallow for the Blue Jays and Pearson's dynasty league owners, as the aggressive assignment to the Florida State League lined up with the hyperbolic scouting reports on the 21-year-old righty from this offseason. He gave up two runs on five hits while recording one strikeout in 1.2 innings before exiting, as Woodell reports Pearson's mid-90s fastball was straight and elevated, leading to hard contact. Consider him out indefinitely.

  • Rangers' Jonathan Hernandez: Among leaders in Carolina League

Hernandez is 3-2 with a 2.45 ERA and 0.95 WHIP in five starts for High-A Down East, Gerry Fraley of the Dallas Morning News reports.

Hernandez has come out of the gate quickly for the Wood Ducks, striking out 37 over 29.1 innings. As with many young pitchers, Hernandez needs to command better -- he's issued 11 walks so far -- and incorporate his offspeed stuff.
