Alex Colome RP | CHW
Rays' Alex Colome: Takes second loss Friday
Colome (0-2) allowed one earned run on two hits in the ninth inning of a 2-1 loss to the Phillies on Friday. He also racked up three strikeouts.
The increasingly embattled closer failed to get the job done again, allowing a one-out double to Scott Kingery that would prove costly. Colome set down Aaron Altherr on a strikeout before Jorge Alfaro knocked in Kingery with a well-placed single between third and short. The fact Colome has blown two saves and also has two losses on his ledger isn't shaking his boss's faith in him -- at least not publicly -- Bill Chastain of MLB.com reports. "I actually thought he threw the ball better today," Rays manager Kevin Cash said. "I thought he threw his fastball up in the zone a little bit more. Just established the fastball to get some chase. Kingery hits the double and Alfaro finds a hole there between [Adeiny Hechavarria] and [Matt Duffy]. All in all, I like the way he's attacking in the zone. He just gave it up."

Edwin Diaz RP | LAD
Mariners' Edwin Diaz: Grabs fifth save Friday
Diaz walked one and struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning Friday to collect his fifth save of the season in a 7-4 win over the A's.
The free pass was the first baserunner Diaz had allowed this season, and the right-hander sports a dominant 13:1 K:BB through six innings. If he can keep the walks under control -- something that isn't guaranteed after he posted a 4.4 BB/9 last year -- the 24-year-old could emerge as one of the elite closing options in the league.

Liam Hendriks RP | CHC
Athletics' Liam Hendriks: Strains groin Friday
Hendriks (groin) exited Friday's loss to the Mariners after pitching to only one batter in the eighth inning, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports.
The right-hander gave up a base hit to Guillermo Heredia before gingerly walking off the mound. With the A's needing a spot in the bullpen for Ryan Dull (shoulder), expect Hendriks to land on the disabled list, but as yet there's no indication of the severity of his groin strain or how long he might be out of action.

Chris Devenski RP | NYM
Astros' Chris Devenski: Notches first save of season Friday
Devenski allowed one hit while striking out the side in a scoreless ninth inning Friday to pick up his first save of the season in a 3-2 win over the Rangers.
Ken Giles hasn't pitched since Monday, so it seems as though manager A.J. Hinch is serious about using different relievers to close based on matchups and who is pitching well. Devenski now has a 1.29 ERA and 10:1 K:BB through his first seven innings of 2018 with a win, a save and two holds, so whatever role he gets used in, the right-hander should continue to pile up fantasy value.

Drew Pomeranz RP | CHC
Red Sox's Drew Pomeranz: May return next week
Pomeranz (forearm) allowed two runs on four hits over 5.1 innings in his rehab appearance with Double-A Portland on Friday, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.
Pomeranz illustrated better control -- he walked six in his first rehab appearance Sunday -- but still issued three walks Friday for Portland. The 29-year-old seems likely to return to the Red Sox starting rotation sometime in the back half of next week after his tuneup appearances in the minors.

Chris Lee RP | BAL
Orioles' Chris Lee: Will throw bullpen Saturday
Lee (oblique) will toss a bullpen session Saturday, Eduardo A. Encina of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Lee went down with an oblique injury in late February but was able to resume throwing earlier this mound and will finally get back on the mound this weekend. During 27 appearances with Triple-A Norfolk last season, Lee logged a 5.11 ERA and 1.71 WHIP over 116.1 innings. Expect a better sense of his timetable following Saturday's session.

Reynaldo Lopez RP | ATL
White Sox's Reynaldo Lopez: Friday's outing postponed
Lopez will not pitch Friday after the game against Minnesota was postponed due to inclement weather. The Twins announced that the game will be rescheduled at a later date.
There hasn't been any word at this point as to how manager Rick Renteria will shuffle his starting rotation following Friday's postponement. Since Lopez has been phenomenal through his first two starts, it would be slightly surprising if he was skipped in the rotation altogether, though Renteria could choose that route if the club wants to limit his innings.

Ryan Weber RP | NYY
Rays' Ryan Weber: Designated for assignment
Weber was designated for assignment by the Rays on Friday.
Weber was removed from his spot on the Rays' 40-man roster in order to make room for outfielder Johnny Field. In just one appearance out of the bullpen this season, Weber allowed one earned run on one hit and one walk against the White Sox on Tuesday. He will remain with Triple-A Durham unless claimed off waivers by another organization.

Brandon Maurer RP | KC
Royals' Brandon Maurer: Optioned to Omaha
Maurer was sent down to Triple-A Omaha on Friday.
Maurer has endured a brutal stretch to start the 2018 campaign, most recently allowing three hits -- including a solo home run -- in 1.1 innings against the Angels on Thursday. That marked the third home run he's allowed in five appearances, and his ERA of 12.46 could have looked even worse if he wasn't able to escape some jams. The 27-year-old will look to get things back on track at the Triple-A level. Kansas City recalled Kevin McCarthy from Omaha to take his place in the bullpen.

Nate Pearson RP | KC
Blue Jays' Nate Pearson: Dealing with minor back issue
Pearson is dealing with a minor back issue and has not yet debuted for High-A Dunedin, Keegan Matheson of Baseball Toronto reports.
He has not been placed on the disabled list, but the Blue Jays are saying his return date is undetermined, Future Blue Jays reports. Look for the Jays' top pitching prospect to take the mound in the coming days. This injury should not affect his dynasty-league stock.
