David Robertson RP | PHI
White Sox's David Robertson: Records 24th save against Cubs
Robertson threw a scoreless ninth to record his 24th save Tuesday against the Cubs.
Robertson desperately needed to convert this save, as he had allowed seven runs on four home runs in blowing his previous two attempts. Tuesday, he struck out a batter and needed just 15 pitches for a 1-2-3 inning, but he'll need to have a few more uneventful outings before owners begin to trust him again.

Daniel Mengden RP | KC
Athletics' Daniel Mengden: Gets optioned Tuesday
Mengden was optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday, John Hickey of Bay Area News Group reports.
Mengden had an atrocious July, giving up 17 walks, 31 hits, and 23 earned runs over his last five starts, leading to a 9.00 ERA and 2.09 WHIP for the month. He'll head back to Triple-A Nashville and look to regain the form he had in June. J.B. Wendelken was recalled in a corresponding roster move.

Hunter Harvey RP | CHC
Orioles' Hunter Harvey: Undergoes Tommy John surgery Tuesday
Harvey underwent successful Tommy John surgery Tuesday, Roch Kubatko of MASNsports.com reports.
Harvey exited a start back on July 16 reporting elbow soreness and ended up visiting Dr. James Andrews shortly after to diagnose the problem. It was determined that the right-hander would need ligament replacement surgery, which he had Tuesday. At only 21 years old, Harvey likely has a long career ahead of him, but in the short term he'll probably miss all of 2016 and most of 2017 as he goes through Tommy John rehab.

Ken Giles RP | ATL
Astros' Ken Giles: Improving as season goes along
Giles hasn't given up a run since June 18, spanning 10.1 innings.
The 25-year-old struggled to start the season, posting a 9.00 ERA in April. Now owning a 4.08 ERA, he has continuously improved as the season has progressed, compiling a 2.31 ERA in June and a scoreless July.

Matt Moore RP | BOS
Rays' Matt Moore: Drawing strong trade interest around majors
Moore is one of several Rays players drawing strong trade interest around the majors, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
The 27-year-old southpaw has put together five consecutive quality starts and brings the allure of a solid lefty arm that is typically coveted by contending teams down the stretch and in the postseason. Moore has hit his stride over the last eight starts, lowering his ERA from 5.56 to 4.31 over that stretch. He's only generated a 4-3 record during that span, but has notably only received a combined five runs of support over the trio of defeats.

Drew Pomeranz RP | CHC
Red Sox's Drew Pomeranz: Better curveball Monday
Pomeranz had a better curveball in this second start for the Red Sox, Ryan Hannable of WEEI.com reports. "I had a good curveball tonight," Pomeranz said. "I was locating my fastball a lot better. I was in a lot better counts all night and really, one bad pitch that hurt us."
Pomeranz finished with 99 pitches, 64 for strikes and registered 14 swings-and-misses, 11 with the curve. For the left-hander, who lasted just three-plus innings in his Boston debut last week, it was a much better performance, but there was one fastball that missed location and Jose Iglesias made him pay for it. He'll look to build off this outing when he takes the mound Saturday on the road against the Angels.

Joe Kelly RP | LAD
Red Sox's Joe Kelly: Makes first appearance since callup
Kelly allowed a run on two hits in one inning of relief in Monday night's 4-2 loss to Detroit. He didn't walk nor strike out a batter.
Kelly was called up from Triple-A Pawtucket over the weekend to bring his flame-throwing arm out of the Boston bullpen. He touched 100 mph on 11 of his 21 pitches in his first relief appearance this season. Unfortunately, if your fastball is missing location in the majors, velocity doesn't mean much. "A lot of power, a lot of velocity, (but) some inconsistent command to get behind in the count 2-1 to Upton," manager John Farrell told MassLive.com. "He left a fastball out on the plate and (Upton) was able to drive it the other way." Kelly will continue to work in a relief role for Boston and will get more opportunities to harness his arsenal and succeed in the pen.

Aroldis Chapman RP | BOS
Yankees' Aroldis Chapman: Yankees nearing deal with Cubs
The Yankees and Cubs are nearing a deal that would send Chapman to Chicago, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.
As currently constructed, Chapman would be the only Yankee making the move to the north side of Chicago, while the Yankees would then take the next few days to see if they're able to make up ground in the American League playoff race before going all-in as sellers (or buyers) at the non-waiver trade deadline. Gleyber Torres is believed to be the top prospect involved as part of the package heading to the Bronx, but the full details of the trade will surface after the terms are finalized, perhaps later Monday.

Nick Burdi RP | NYM
Twins' Nick Burdi: May not return this season
Burdi is currently doing rehabilitation work in Fort Myers, Fla., and the Twins hope he can begin a throwing program soon, but he may not pitch again this season, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Burdi tried to pitch through a bone bruise near his elbow before being shut down after just three innings in April. It sounds like throwing in a fall league could be a possibility.

Craig Kimbrel RP | KC
Red Sox's Craig Kimbrel: Throws bullpen Monday
Kimbrel threw a successful 20-pitch bullpen Monday, Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe reports.
Kimbrel was placed on the disabled list on July 9, with a timetable of a 3-to-6 weeks. It looks like he's currently on the front side of that timetable, with a return of next week looking more likely. Kimbrel will need to have another strong session or two before going on a rehab assignment.
