Scott Carroll RP | CHC
White Sox's Scott Carroll: Optioned to Triple-A on Wednesday
Carroll was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday.
Carroll was vying for a role as a long reliever in the White Sox bullpen, but since he had minor league options left, the White Sox will send him down to Triple-A to begin the season. That being said, he could shuttle between the minors and majors if he has success against minor league hitters.

Luke Jackson RP | SEA
Rangers' Luke Jackson: To pitch in minor league game Thursday
Jackson will pitch in a minor league game Thursday, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Jeff Wilson reports.
As he continues his rehab from a back injury in minor league camp, Jackson will be eligible to have a DL stint backdated so he can return to the Rangers' bullpen early in the season if he is cleared medically and there is a need. While he has solid stuff, the Rangers are loaded with quality high-leverage arms, so Jackson doesn't figure to bring much to the table from a fantasy perspective this year.

Matt Andriese RP | MIA
Rays' Matt Andriese: Has solid rain-shortened outing versus Blue Jays Tuesday
Andriese, competing for a bullpen spot, was solid in a rain-shortened outing versus the Blue Jays Tuesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Andriese allowed just a single to Josh Donaldson over his two innings of work, and then threw two additional simulated frames in the covered bullpen area. "I felt good," he said. "I was out there attacking the zone and just trying to be aggressive. It's kind of tough when you know the rain is coming, so you're just trying to make it quick. But I got my work in and I'll go from there." The 26-year-old right-hander has acquitted himself well this spring in a bid for a possible middle-relief role, posting a 1-0 record and 1.13 ERA while striking out six over eight exhibition innings.

Pat Venditte RP | LAD
Blue Jays' Pat Venditte: Will open season in the minors
Venditte will open the season in the minors, the Toronto Star reports.
Venditte and his intriguing switch-pitching style made a run at a roster spot this spring with 8.1 scoreless innings, but there simply was not enough room for him in the bullpen. He could be an option for the big club at some point this season.

Luke Jackson RP | SEA
Rangers' Luke Jackson: Could pitch later this week
Jackson (back) could appears in a minor-league game later this week, MLB.com's T.R Sullivan reports.
Jackson is expected to begin the year at Triple-A Round Rock, pitching out of the bullpen, once healthy.

Nick Martinez SP | TB
Rangers' Nick Martinez: Optioned to the minors
Martinez was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock, all but ensuring AJ Griffin will begin the year in the Texas rotation.
Martinez figures to be a rotation option should injuries hit the major-league staff, but his pedestrian peripherals throughout his major-league career (154 K, 101 walks in 265.1 IP) don't bode well for any long-term success.

Michael Tonkin RP | MIN
Twins' Michael Tonkin: Wins job as long reliever
Tonkin has won a job in Minnesota's bullpen. He'll be used initially as the long reliever, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
Tonkin would appear to be an odd choice for long reliever since he hasn't started a game since 2011. If he shows success in relief it likely won't be long before the Twins move another pitcher into the long reliever role.

Ryan Pressly RP | CHC
Twins' Ryan Pressly: Wins bullpen role
Pressly has won a job in Minnesota's bullpen, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Pressly had a 1.80 ERA this spring with a 10:4 K:BB ratio in ten innings. He showed promise in the bullpen with a 94.2 average mph fastball and a decent 7.1 K/9 last season, but a strained right lat muscle injury ended his season in early August. He'll be used in middle relief but could become a key setup man before too long.

Tony Zych RP | NYY
Mariners' Tony Zych: Headed for late-inning role
Zych, who has 14 strikeouts in 7.2 spring innings with just one walk, figures to pitch in a late-inning role this season.
Zych has impressed this spring with his 96-mph sinking fastball and nasty slider. He's struck out nearly 44 percent of batters faced. Steve Cishek is the closer and Joaquin Benoit the right-handed setup man, but Zych should get plenty of action in the seventh and eighth innings. Benoit is the next line for saves behind Cishek, but Zych figures to be next up.

Hunter Harvey RP | CHC
Orioles' Hunter Harvey: Suffers groin strain Tuesday
Harvey suffered a groin strain during a minor league game Tuesday, Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com reports.
The 21-year-old Harvey will visit a doctor Wednesday to determine the extent of the injury. A first-round pick in 2013, he missed all of last year due to elbow troubles, but Harvey came into camp at 100 percent. He was not sharp in his brief time with the big club this spring, allowing six runs on six hits and four walks over 2.2 innings before being reassigned.
