Brendan White RP | DET
Tigers' Brendan White: Undergoes procedure
The Tigers announced that White (elbow) underwent a hydro-dissection procedure Tuesday to address radial nerve-related symptoms, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
White had been contending with elbow problems dating back to spring training and hasn't pitched in a game since June 18, when he made a rehab appearance in the rookie-level Florida Complex League. Though the Tigers recalled him from the minors Aug. 13 and placed him on the 60-day injured list with what the club labeled as a right elbow strain, White didn't require surgery and instead had a non-invasive procedure to address the matter. White is presumably shut down for the season, but he could be fully cleared for the start of spring training.

Hans Crouse SP | BAL
Angels' Hans Crouse: Optioned to Salt Lake
The Angels optioned Crouse to Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday.
Crouse has done a nice job in the Angels' bullpen since being brought up from the minors in June, posting a 3.00 ERA and 1.21 WHIP across 24 innings. However, he'll end up as the Halos' roster casualty as Johnny Cueto comes up from Triple-A to start Wednesday's game. Crouse owns a 2.70 ERA at Salt Lake and could rejoin Los Angeles' bullpen down the stretch if he remains effective.

Chris Martin RP | TEX
Red Sox's Chris Martin: Earns first save
Martin earned the save in Tuesday's 4-1 win over Houston, working around a hit in a scoreless ninth inning. He struck out one.
With Kenley Jansen having pitched back-to-back days, the Red Sox turned to Martin on Wednesday to protect a three-run lead in the ninth. The right-hander would work around a two-out single to record his first save of the season. Overall, Martin sports a 2.94 ERA this year with a 1.07 WHIP and 39:2 K:BB across 33.2 innings. He's logged 12 holds while working in a setup role ahead of Jansen.

Beau Brieske RP | DET
Tigers' Beau Brieske: Drawing opener assignment
Brieske will serve as the Tigers' opening pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.
Manager A.J. Hinch hasn't outlined the Tigers' pitching plan for Wednesday, but Brieske will take the hill on two days' rest and should be able to cover somewhere between one and three innings before turning the game over to the bullpen. Kenta Maeda tossed 5.2 scoreless innings in his last appearance Thursday versus the Mariners and should operate as a bulk reliever behind Brieske.

Anthony Gose RP | NYM
Guardians' Anthony Gose: DFA'd again
The Guardians designated Gose for assignment Wednesday.
The Guardians have now pushed Gose off the 40-man roster twice within the past two weeks, with the 34-year-old lefty having made just one relief appearance between his two abbreviated stints with the big club. Gose will likely clear waivers once again and will presumably accept an outright assignment to Triple-A Columbus.

Astros' Seth Martinez: Rejoins bullpen
The Astros recalled Martinez from Triple-A Sugar Land on Wednesday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Martinez was sent down earlier Wednesday but is back to fill the spot vacated by Kaleb Ort, who went on the paternity list. The Astros will likely option Martinez to Triple-A later this week when Ort returns.

Kaleb Ort RP | LAA
Astros' Kaleb Ort: Goes on paternity list
The Astros placed Ort on the paternity list Wednesday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Ort will miss a minimum of one and a maximum of three games while welcoming a new member to the family. His spot on the active roster and in the bullpen will be absorbed by Seth Martinez, who was called up from Triple-A Sugar Land.

Ryan Pressly RP | CHC
Astros' Ryan Pressly: Throws bullpen session
Pressly (back) threw a bullpen session at Minute Maid Park on Wednesday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
Pressly landed on the injured list over the weekend with a lower-back strain but is already moving through a throwing program. Astros manager Joe Espada said that Pressly probably won't require a rehab assignment, so the reliever would seem to have a shot to be ready for activation from the 15-day injured list Aug. 29 when he's first eligible.

Astros' Seth Martinez: Sent back down
The Astros optioned Martinez to Triple-A Sugar Land on Wednesday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Martinez had been recalled this past weekend but didn't make an appearance during this stint in the majors. He's clearing out to make room on the roster for Justin Verlander (neck), who returns from the injured list to start versus the Red Sox.

Nick Avila RP | BAL
Orioles' Nick Avila: Moves off 40-man roster
The Orioles designated Avila for assignment Wednesday.
Baltimore claimed Avila off waivers from San Francisco on June 17, but he spent much of the past two months on Triple-A Norfolk's injured list before returning to action for the Orioles' International League affiliate last week. He was lit up over his three relief appearances for Norfolk, giving up 10 earned runs over just 1.1 innings before the Orioles moved him off their 40-man roster. Avila is expected to clear waivers and will most likely stick around in the organization as a bullpen arm at Norfolk.
