Taylor Clarke RP | ARI
Royals' Taylor Clarke: Collects third win
Clarke (3-5) allowed two runs (one earned) on one hit and one walk while striking out two over one inning to earn the win in Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the White Sox.
After the Royals established a 9-0 lead early on, it seemed like starter Jordan Lyles would cruise to the victory. That cruise hit a bumpy road in the sixth inning, and while Clarke couldn't prevent the game from getting tied, he ended up with the win when the Royals pulled ahead again in the seventh. Clarke has allowed four runs (three earned) over his last three innings. He's now at a 5.53 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 59:23 K:BB with 11 holds and three blown saves over 53.2 innings this year.

Chase Silseth RP | LAA
Angels' Chase Silseth: Return date uncertain
Angels manager Phil Nevin said Monday that Silseth (concussion) won't be an option to start Wednesday's series finale in Seattle, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. "There's just little minor things that are still affecting him a little bit," Nevin said of Silseth. "He's building up his workouts. He's building up his bullpens...got to get through everything without any sort of discomfort and any uneasiness."
Silseth has seemingly made progress in his recovery from the concussion since landing on the 7-day injured list Aug. 29, but the young right-hander looks like he won't be an option to pitch this week while he continues to build his arm back up following the recent shutdown. The Angels will thus need to break in a new starter into their six-man rotation Wednesday, though a replacement has yet to be named.

Carlos Hernandez RP | CLE
Royals' Carlos Hernandez: Grabs fourth save
Hernandez picked up the save in Tuesday's 11-10 victory over the White Sox. He allowed one run on a hit and a walk while striking out one over one inning.
Hernandez allowed a run for a fourth straight appearance, though he'd manage to hang on to a one-run lead Tuesday, earning his fourth save. It's been a tough run for Hernandez, who's allowed six runs in his last 2.2 innings while blowing two saves in that span. His ERA is up to 4.87 with a 1.21 WHIP and 75:26 K:BB this season. While Hernandez should still see high-leverage work in Kansas City, it's hard to trust him for fantasy purposes.

Nick Pivetta RP | SD
Red Sox's Nick Pivetta: Stuck with loss despite 10 Ks
Pivetta (9-9) took the loss Tuesday in the first game of a doubleheader against the Yankees, giving up three runs on four hits and a walk over 5.1 innings. He struck out 10.
The right-hander was dominant through five frames in his return to the rotation, retiring the first eight batters he faced and not allowing a runner past first base, but he faded late and got the hook after five of the first six New York batters reached base in the sixth. It marks the third time this season Pivetta has fanned double-digit batters but the first time since July 31, as he'd spent the last month working out of the bullpen. He earned his punchouts Wednesday with 31 called or swinging strikes among his 90 pitches. With James Paxton (knee) done for the year, Pivetta figures to remain a starter the rest of the way.

Nick Ramirez RP | LAD
Yankees' Nick Ramirez: Collects first career save
Ramirez struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Tuesday to record his first career save in the second game of a doubleheader against the Red Sox.
Clay Holmes, Tommy Kahnle and Wandy Peralta had all worked the matinee, so manager Aaron Boone had to get a bit creative in the nightcap with his bullpen. Ramirez was up to the task in the ninth, needing only 13 pitches (eight strikes) to breeze through Boston's 2-3-4 hitters. The 34-year-old lefty has bounced between the majors and Triple-A in the second half but has been effective when called upon, posting a 1.84 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 11:2 K:BB through 14.2 big-league innings since the All-Star break.

Clay Holmes RP | NYM
Yankees' Clay Holmes: Shaky in 19th save
Holmes walked three batters in a scoreless ninth inning Tuesday to record his 19th save of the season in the first game of a doubleheader against the Red Sox.
The right-hander lost the plate after getting Wilyer Abreu to ground out to begin the inning, issuing three straight free passes, but a double-play grounder on his first pitch to Alex Verdugo bailed Holmes out. After going most of August without a save and posting a 7.84 ERA on the month, the right-hander is 3-for-3 on save chances in September and has yet to allow a run. Tuesday's outing was also the first time he'd walked multiple batters in an appearance since May 28, so there may not be much cause for concern with his sudden control issues.

Emmanuel Clase RP | CLE
Guardians' Emmanuel Clase: Records 40th save
Clase pitched a perfect inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Giants.
Clase needed 13 pitches (eight strikes) to complete the clean inning just a day after he blew a save in the 10th inning. This was Clase's 40th save of the season -- he's the first to reach that mark in 2023, though he's also blown a major-league-leading 11 saves in 69 appearances. The Guardians closer has allowed six runs (four earned) over his last 9.1 innings and has a 3.11 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 58:15 K:BB through 66.2 innings overall.

Jhoan Duran RP | PHI
Twins' Jhoan Duran: Earns save No. 26
Duran picked up the save Tuesday against the Rays. He tossed a perfect inning and didn't record a strikeout.
Duran snared his third save of September on Tuesday, delivering a perfect inning to put away the Rays. Duran has allowed two hits across four scoreless innings since the calendar flipped to September.

Zack Littell SP | WAS
Rays' Zack Littell: Another solid outing
Littell (3-6) took the loss Tuesday, allowing three runs on five hits over seven innings against the Twins. He struck out eight.
After firing off eight innings of one-run baseball in his last start, Littell went seven innings against Minnesota and logged his third quality start of the season despite surrendering a pair of home runs to Willi Castro and Edouard Julien. Over his last seven appearances (42.2 innings), Littell owns a 4.43 ERA and a 33:3 K:BB but has allowed 1.9 HR/9. Littell will close out his two-start week on the road Sunday against the Orioles.
