Astros' Joel Kuhnel: Recalled to big-league bullpen
Houston recalled Kuhnel from Triple-A Sugar Land on Friday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
Kuhnel will give the Astros an extra bullpen arm as major-league rosters expand to 28. The right-hander has surrendered seven earned runs in 5.1 major-league innings this season between Cincinnati and Houston.

Kevin Kelly RP | TB
Rays' Kevin Kelly: Activated from 15-day IL
Kelly (ankle) was activated Friday from the 15-day injured list, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.
Kelly will return to the Rays' bullpen ahead of Friday night's series opener against the Guardians after missing exactly 15 days due to a left ankle sprain. The 25-year-old rookie reliever holds a solid 3.48 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 45:14 K:BB through his first 54.1 major-league innings this season.

Cody Morris RP | NYY
Guardians' Cody Morris: Optioned to Columbus
Cleveland optioned Morris to Triple-A Columbus on Friday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.
Morris has surrendered six earned runs on 10 hits and six walks in eight major-league innings this season, which works out to a 6.75 ERA and 2.00 WHIP. Waiver additions Reynaldo Lopez and Matt Moore are joining the Guardians' bullpen Friday, while Hunter Gaddis also gets the boot.

Brent Headrick RP | NYY
Twins' Brent Headrick: Recalled from Triple-A
The Twins recalled Headrick from Triple-A St. Paul on Friday.
Headrick will add depth to Minnesota's bullpen as rosters expand to 28 players. The 25-year-old southpaw holds a 6.20 ERA and 1.38 WHIP across 20.1 innings in the majors this season and will presumably work a lower-leverage, multi-inning role down the stretch.

Luis Patino RP | SD
White Sox's Luis Patino: Recalled from Charlotte
The White Sox recalled Patino from Triple-A Charlotte on Friday.
Patino will serve as the White Sox's additional pitcher as rosters expand to 28 players. The 23-year-old righty has struggled mightily this season with a 6.49 ERA and 1.71 WHIP across 59.2 innings in Triple-A, and he surrendered four runs in four frames with the Rays earlier this year.

Joey Krehbiel RP | TB
Orioles' Joey Krehbiel: Promotion official
The Orioles recalled Krehbiel from Triple-A Norfolk on Friday.
As rosters expand from 26 to 28 players to begin September, Krehbiel will provide extra depth to the major-league bullpen. The 30-year-old righty put up a 2.75 ERA and 1.47 WHIP across 36 innings in Triple-A, and he has already logged two scoreless appearances in the majors this year.

Miguel Diaz RP | SF
Tigers' Miguel Diaz: Added to roster
The Tigers selected Diaz's contract from Triple-A Toledo on Friday.
The 28-year-old got into three games for the Tigers last season but has spent all of this year at Toledo, collecting a 5.05 ERA and 73:26 K:BB over 57 innings. Diaz was closing in Triple-A but will probably be used in low-leverage spots with the big club.

Jovani Moran RP | BOS
Twins' Jovani Moran: Out with forearm injury
Moran was placed on the 7-day IL at Triple-A St. Paul with a left forearm strain. "It doesn't sound like he'll be back any time soon. We'll see what the next few weeks hold," Saints pitching coach Pete Larson told the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
Moran would have been a candidate to join the Twins when rosters expand in September, but it sounds like this injury could end his season.

Alex Lange RP | KC
Tigers' Alex Lange: Blows save Thursday
Lange blew a save opportunity against the Yankees on Thursday, allowing three runs on three hits while striking out one batter over one inning.
Coming into the ninth frame, New York had managed just two hits while falling behind by three runs. The Yankees were able to erase that deficit against Lange when Anthony Volpe blasted a two-out, three-run homer to right field. This was the first blown save in seven attempts since the All-Star break for Lange, who had been surviving with a 1.80 ERA over 15 second-half innings despite a 1.53 ERA and 17:18 K:BB. He and Jason Foley have been sharing closer duties, though Foley worked a perfect seventh and notched a hold in Thursday's contest.
