  • Kyle Finnegan RP | DET

Nationals' Kyle Finnegan: Slams door for 15th save

Finnegan struck out one batter in a perfect inning and earned a save over the Brewers on Monday.

Finnegan tossed 11 of 15 pitches for strikes and had no issue finishing off the 5-3 win Monday. He's allowed just two hits during his 5.2-inning scoreless streak. While he's converted just 15 of his 22 save chances this season, Finnegan's season ERA sits at a solid 3.00 with a 43:14 K:BB through 45 innings.

  • Jose Cuas RP | KC

Cubs' Jose Cuas: Headed to Windy City

The Royals traded Cuas to the Cubs on Monday in exchange for Nelson Velazquez.

Cuas hasn't been particularly reliable out of the bullpen for the Royals this season with a 4.54 ERA and 1.61 WHIP across 41.2 innings. Nonetheless, he'll add depth to a Cubs bullpen that has already dealt with a handful of injuries throughout the year.

  • Sam Moll RP | CIN

Reds' Sam Moll: Traded to Cincy

The Athletics traded Moll to Cincinnati on Monday in exchange for Joe Boyle, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Moll has taken a notable step back this season from his 2022 campaign, putting up a 4.54 ERA and 1.41 WHIP across 37.2 innings. Moll's high strikeout rate could buy him a few high-leverage appearances with Cincinnati, but the 31-year-old lefty will likely work primarily in low-to-mid-leverage situations.

  • John Brebbia RP | COL

Giants' John Brebbia: Moves to 60-day IL

The Giants transferred Brebbia (lat) to the 60-day injured list Monday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Brebbia has been on the injured list since June 17 with a Grade 2 lat strain, and he'll now be held out until at least Aug. 16. The 33-year-old righty began throwing off a mound last weekend, so a return to the bullpen in mid-August seems possible.

  • Paul Sewald RP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Paul Sewald: Dealt to Arizona

The Mariners traded Sewald to the Diamondbacks on Monday in exchange for Dominic Canzone, Josh Rojas and Ryan Bliss, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

This is a great landing spot for Sewald as it pertains to his fantasy value, as he shouldn't have any competition for saves in Arizona. The Diamondbacks had been using a committee approach to the ninth inning, and Sewald has a 2.93 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 21 saves in 43 innings this season. He also has 55 career saves and is under team control through the 2024 season.

  • Nick Burdi RP | NYM

Cubs' Nick Burdi: Ready for live session

Burdi (appendectomy) is scheduled to face hitters in live batting practice Tuesday, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

After completing a couple of bullpen sessions last week, Burdi will enter the next phase of his rehab program as he ramps back up from the emergency appendectomy he underwent May 24. If all goes well Tuesday, Burdi could be cleared to head out on an extended minor-league rehab assignment as soon as this weekend.

  • Ethan Roberts RP | CHC

Cubs' Ethan Roberts: Ready for bullpen work

Roberts (elbow) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Tuesday, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Roberts, who is working his way back from the Tommy John surgery he underwent July 13, 2022, recently finished up a "de-load" period of his throwing program in which he was limited to throwing off flat ground, according to MLB.com. The right-hander will start up the ramp-up process Tuesday with a side session, and he should gradually increase the frequency and intensity of his bullpen work over the next few weeks before progressing to facing hitters. Roberts still has a chance to pitch in games in 2023, though any appearances he makes will likely come in the minors rather than with the Cubs.

  • Dylan Lee RP | ATL

Braves' Dylan Lee: Cleared to face hitters

Lee (shoulder) is scheduled to face hitters in live batting practice Tuesday, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Lee is expected to head out on a minor-league rehab assignment over the weekend if all goes well during the live BP session. The 28-year-old southpaw has been on the injured list since May 19 with left shoulder inflammation and will likely need to make multiple appearances in the minors before Atlanta is comfortable adding him back to its bullpen.

  • Tanner Scott RP | LAD

Marlins' Tanner Scott: Pitches through calf strain

Scott (calf) tossed a 1-2-3 eighth inning en route to earning his 21st hold of the season in Sunday's 8-6 win over the Tigers.

Scott was hampered a mild right calf strain in his previous appearance Friday, but he needed just one day off to move past the issue before being made available out of the bullpen for the series finale. He served as the primary setup man in front of the newly acquired David Robertson, who tossed a perfect ninth inning to secure his first save with the Marlins.

  • Hobie Harris RP | BOS

Nationals' Hobie Harris: Making return to majors

The Nationals recalled Harris from Triple-A Rochester on Monday, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.

Harris could be in line for a temporary stay with the big club, as he was called up as a replacement on the 26-man active roster for Trevor Williams (personal), who was placed on the bereavement list. Williams is expected to return from bereavement leave before his next turn in the rotation comes up this weekend in Cincinnati, so expect the Nationals to demote a reliever to Triple-A to make room for him at that time. Harris won a spot in Washington's Opening Day bullpen but was sent to Triple-A on May 20 after recording a 5.40 ERA and 1.80 WHIP across 18.1 innings.
