  • Tejay Antone RP | CIN

Reds' Tejay Antone: Begins rehab assignment

Antone (elbow) struck one over a scoreless inning for the Reds' affiliate in the Arizona Complex League on Tuesday, MLB.com reports.

Antone is working his way back from a second Tommy John surgery and recently had a setback with a sore right shoulder. Cincinnati manager David Bell received good reports on the outing and said, if all goes well, Antone is projected to rejoin the Reds bullpen by Aug. 19.

  • Scott McGough RP | ATH

Diamondbacks' Scott McGough: Rough stretch continues

McGough allowed four runs on four hits while striking out one over two-thirds of an inning in Wednesday's 11-7 loss to St. Louis.

McGough hung a couple of splitters that turned into a pair of two-run home runs in the eighth inning. The Diamondbacks' offense showed life, coming back from a pair of small deficits during the game, but did not have enough to overcome what McGough left them. The outing was the fifth in the reliever's last six that he's allowed runs. The right-hander owns a 16.50 ERA during that span. McGough is one of several important bullpen arms that have contributed to Arizona's slide this month -- five wins, 14 losses since July 2.

  • Adbert Alzolay RP | NYM

Cubs' Adbert Alzolay: Earns another save

Alzolay pitched a scoreless ninth inning to record the save in Wednesday's win over the White Sox.

A night after striking out the side to record a save, Alzolay retired the White Sox in order again to register his 11th save of the season in 12 chances. The righty is settling in as the Cubs' closer and should have decent job security at this point given his strong 2.40 ERA and 0.93 WHIP across 45 innings, to go along with 51 strikeouts.

  • Peter Lambert RP | HOU

Rockies' Peter Lambert: Logs quality start

Lambert did not factor into the decision Wednesday, allowing one unearned run on three hits and one walk over six innings against Washington. He struck out two.

Lambert more than held his own Wednesday, limiting the Nationals to just one unearned run on the afternoon while notching his first quality start of the season. The right-hander produced three 1-2-3 innings and needed only 78 pitches to get through six frames. He has not allowed an earned run over his last 14 innings of work (spanning three appearances) and lowered his season ERA to 4.76 with Wednesday's performance.

  • Devin Williams RP | NYM

Brewers' Devin Williams: Notches 26th save

Williams picked up the save Wednesday against Cincinnati, striking out two in a perfect ninth inning.

Williams has turned in nine straight scoreless appearances (8.2 innings), going 8-for-8 in save chances while striking out 18 in that span. The 28-year-old right-hander's ERA is down to a stellar 1.56 with a 0.99 WHIP and 59:20 K:BB through 40.1 innings this season.

  • Jorge Lopez RP | WAS

Marlins' Jorge Lopez: Acquired by Marlins

The Marlins acquired Lopez from the Twins on Wednesday in exchange for right-hander Dylan Floro, Craig Mish of the Miami Herald reports.

The two teams will swap relief pitchers both in the midst of disappointing seasons. Lopez has been the less effective of the two, posting a 5.09 ERA and 27:11 K:BB over 35.1 innings. Unlike Floro, Lopez has an extra year of team control, although he looks like a potential non-tender candidate this offseason.

  • Riley Pint RP | COL

Rockies' Riley Pint: Optioned back to Triple-A

Colorado optioned Pint to Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

This move clears out a 26-man roster spot for Kyle Freeland (shoulder) as he readies to return to the Rockies' rotation Friday against the Athletics. Pint did not make an appearance during his two-game stay in the majors.

  • Angel Perdomo RP | LAA

Pirates' Angel Perdomo: Suspended three games

Perdomo was suspended three games by Major League Baseball for throwing at Manny Machado on Tuesday night, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Perdomo fired an up-and-in pitch to Machado in the bottom of the seventh inning, shortly after serving up a home run to Juan Soto. It was deemed an intentional plunking and Perdomo will not appeal the three-game punishment. Pirates manager Derek Shelton also received a one-game suspension and will serve it during Wednesday's series finale at San Diego. Perdomo is eligible to return Sunday.

  • Braves' Dereck Rodriguez: Sent outright to Triple-A

Rodriguez cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Atlanta jettisoned Rodriguez from their 40-man roster Monday, but he will stay in the organization. The right-hander has started and relieved during his time with Gwinnett in 2023.

  • Lucas Luetge RP | BOS

Braves' Lucas Luetge: Outrighted to Triple-A

Luetge cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

He's no longer on Atlanta's 40-man roster but it appears Luetge will remain in the organization. The southpaw holds an 8.49 ERA over 11 relief appearances in the big leagues this season.
