The Mets claimed Murfee (elbow) off waivers from the Mariners on Tuesday.

Murfee required surgery in July to repair the UCL in his right elbow and will likely miss at least the first half of the 2024 season. When healthy, the 29-year-old reliever has compiled an impressive 2.70 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 92:28 K:BB across 83.1 career major-league innings.

Milwaukee outrighted Boushley to Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Boushley passed through waivers unclaimed after being pushed off the Brewers' 40-man roster. He made his major-league debut this past September at age 29, but it was only a one-day stint and he finished the year with an underwhelming 5.11 ERA across 135.2 innings at the Triple-A level.

The Dodgers outrighted Cyr (shoulder) to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday.

Cyr made only two appearances in the majors this season and finished the year on the 60-day injured list because of a shoulder impingement. The 30-year-old right-hander will not be part of the 40-man roster in Los Angeles leading into the offseason.

Mantiply will work as the opener for Game 4 of the World Series against the Rangers on Tuesday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Mantiply last pitched during Game 1, striking out one batter over a scoreless inning of relief work. He figures to work the first inning or so before handing the ball to a primary pitcher. The Diamondbacks have yet to reveal any pitching plans past Mantiply, but Ryne Nelson would figure to be one of the top candidates to get outs, as he's yet to take the mound this series.

Rodriguez was claimed off waivers by the Diamondbacks on Monday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

Rodriguez last pitched in the majors for the Angels in 2021 before missing most of the last two seasons with shoulder issues. He most recently experienced a setback with his back while on a rehab assignment. While Rodriguez's current health status is unclear, he's just 25 and was an exciting young arm before injuries struck.

The Cardinals sent Leahy outright to Triple-A Memphis on Thursday.

Leahy was brought onto the Cardinals' 40-man roster in July and made three appearances before being optioned back to Triple-A. He surrendered four earned runs over just 1.2 innings in the majors, and he posted a 6.37 ERA across 83.1 frames with Memphis. Barring a significant improvement, Leahy doesn't project to contribute significantly in the majors next season.

Atlanta signed Johnson to a two-year, $14.25 million contract extension Wednesday.

Johnson will make $7 million in both 2024 and 2025, and the new deal also includes a $7 million club option (or $250,000 buyout) for 2026. The 32-year-old right-hander was acquired from the Rockies this past July and went on to deliver a 0.76 ERA and 32:5 K:BB over his final 23.2 regular-season innings with the NL East champions. He then carried that over into the playoffs, logging three scoreless relief appearances in the best-of-five NLDS against the Phillies.

Thompson pitched 1.1 perfect innings en route to a win in Tuesday's 4-2 victory over the Phillies in Game 7 of the NLCS.

Thompson was summoned into the game in the fifth inning with Kyle Schwarber in scoring position at second base, but he managed to escape the jam and pitch a clean sixth. Thompson's high ground ball rate, which accounted for 61.2 percent of balls in play against him in 30.2 regular-season innings, allows him to pitch to contact and helps to generate perfect outings like Tuesday's performance. So far this postseason, Thompson has a 2.53 ERA and 1.22 WHIP across 10.2 innings with eight strikeouts.

Sewald pitched a perfect inning to close out the game in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Phillies in Game 7 of the NLCS.

Sewald has yet to give up a run in the playoffs this year, putting together a dominant run of six saves in as many opportunities. The right-hander generated flyouts on all three outs as the Phillies were likely attempting to make any kind of contact to spare elimination. The 33-year-old closer will now have the opportunity to prepare for his first World Series. He has pitched to a 0.50 WHIP across eight scoreless innings with 11 strikeouts this postseason.

Montes de Oca (elbow) has begun a throwing program, Metsmerized Online reports.

Montes de Oca is nearly seven months removed from Tommy John surgery and is finally testing out his rebuilt elbow with some catch at the Mets' spring training complex in Florida. The big reliever will be sidelined until around midseason next year.
