Steven Wilson RP | TB
Padres' Steven Wilson: Placed on 15-day IL
Wilson was placed on the 15-day injured list with a right pectoral strain Tuesday.
Wilson will be unavailable until after the All-Star break as he tends to his injured pectoral. He will be replaced in the major-league bullpen by Drew Carlton, who was called up from Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday. Wilson has been very effective this season with San Diego, compiling a 2.43 ERA and 1.00 WHIP with 40 strikeouts over 37 frames in 2023.

Diamondbacks' Justin Martinez: Heading to big leagues
Martinez was called up from Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.
Martinez will join the big-league club for the first time in his career after he was sent down ahead of the season in March. The right-hander has produced a 4.18 ERA and 1.71 WHIP with 38 strikeouts over 28 innings in 25 appearances with Reno this year.

Kevin Ginkel RP | ARI
Diamondbacks' Kevin Ginkel: Called up Tuesday
Ginkel was called up from Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.
Ginkel will return to the majors after he was sent down June 12, helping replace Merrill Kelly (calf) on the big-league roster after the latter was placed on the 15-day injured list Tuesday. Ginkel has appeared in 25 games with the Diamondbacks this season, producing a 2.76 ERA and 1.12 WHIP with 26 strikeouts over 29.1 frames.

Brandon Hughes RP | CHC
Cubs' Brandon Hughes: Moves to 60-day IL
The Cubs transferred Hughes (knee) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports.
With Hughes set to undergo season-ending knee alignment surgery in the next few days, seeing him land on the 60-day IL is hardly a surprise. His transfer makes room on the 40-man roster for Jared Young to be selected from Triple-A Iowa.

Jake Wong RP | CIN
Reds' Jake Wong: DFA'd by Reds
The Reds designated Wong for assignment Tuesday.
One day after earning his first MLB call up, Wong will once again find himself off the 40-man roster. Wong made his debut Monday, surrendering three runs on six hits and three walks over three innings out of the bullpen. He'll presumably return to Triple-A, where he holds a 10.13 ERA and 1.87 WHIP across 18.2 frames.

Matt Barnes RP | WAS
Marlins' Matt Barnes: Works scoreless inning in rehab
Barnes (hip) struck out a batter and gave up no hits and one walk in a scoreless inning during his rehab appearance Tuesday for the Marlins' rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate.
Barnes pitched a clean inning without much issue in what marked his first appearance at any level since June 1 after he landed on the injured list with a left hip impingement. The right-hander may require another minor-league appearance or two before the Marlins are comfortable adding him back to the MLB bullpen.

Matt Koch RP | COL
Rockies' Matt Koch: Selected to MLB bullpen
Colorado selected Koch's contract from Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday.
Koch was struggling to the tune of a 7.27 ERA through 34.2 innings this season at the Triple-A level, but the Rockies are desperate for fresh bullpen arms. The 32-year-old has made only four major-league appearances since the end of the 2019 season.

Joe Mantiply RP | TOR
Diamondbacks' Joe Mantiply: Dispatched to Triple-A
The Diamondbacks optioned Mantiply to Triple-A Reno on Monday.
The 2022 All-Star's move to the minors comes after he surrendered eight earned runs over eight innings across his five relief appearances since Arizona reinstated him from the 15-day injured list June 12. The Diamondbacks haven't announced a corresponding roster move for Mantiply, who could be back in the Arizona bullpen after stringing together a few quality appearances at Triple-A.

Reiss Knehr RP | SD
Padres' Reiss Knehr: Called upon for spot start
Knehr will start Tuesday against Pittsburgh, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Yu Darvish was scratched from his scheduled start due to illness, so Knehr will temporarily fill in as San Diego's starter. The 26-year-old righty has made six major-league starts and holds a 5.24 ERA and 1.40 WHIP through 46.1 innings throughout his MLB career.
