  • Dylan Floro RP | ARI

Marlins' Dylan Floro: Notches third save

Floro gave up a hit in a scoreless ninth inning Wednesday to record his third save of the season in a 4-3 win over the Nationals.

The right-hander is now 2-for-2 in converting save chances since A.J. Puk (elbow) landed on the IL. Floro is having a typically solid season, posting a 2.79 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 18:4 K:BB through 19.1 innings, and while he's not a dominant late-inning arm, he should fill the closer role for the Marlins adequately until Puk is ready to return.

  • Ryan Helsley RP | BAL

Cardinals' Ryan Helsley: Notches fifth save

Helsley recorded a save against the Brewers on Wednesday, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out one batter over 1.1 scoreless innings.

Helsley entered in the eighth inning and retired one batter, then worked around a walk and a single in the ninth to close out the contest. The right-hander was plenty rested after pitching just once over the previous eight days, and he earned his fifth save of the campaign. Helsley has blown three saves, but his overall numbers are strong, as he's posted a 2.55 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 22:6 K:BB over 17.2 innings.

  • John Brebbia RP | COL

Giants' John Brebbia: Snags second win

Brebbia (2-0) allowed a hit and struck out one in a scoreless inning to earn the win Wednesday over the Phillies.

Brebbia pitched the top of the eighth inning, and the Giants rallied ahead in their half of the frame. The right-hander has allowed a run on four hits and three walks with nine strikeouts through five innings in May. He has a 4.67 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, five holds and 27:7 K:BB through 17.1 innings over 19 appearances, including two turns as an opener, this season.

  • Braves' Raisel Iglesias: Clean inning for save

Iglesias struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Wednesday's 6-5 win over the Rangers.

Atlanta took a one-run lead in the ninth inning, and Iglesias made it stick. He'd allowed two runs in each of his last two appearances after debuting with a pair of scoreless outings. The right-hander missed the first month-plus of the season with a shoulder strain, and he's had a bit of trouble settling back into the closer role. Iglesias has an 8.31 ERA while converting two of three save chances over 4.1 innings so far.

  • Pierce Johnson RP | CIN

Rockies' Pierce Johnson: Locks down eighth save

Johnson picked up the save Wednesday against the Reds, striking out one over two-thirds of an inning.

Johnson relieved Riley Pint in the ninth inning, inheriting runners on second and third, coaxing a pop-out from Wil Myers before striking out Jose Barrero to end the game. Johnson is now 8-for-11 in save opportunities. He's managed to stave off Daniel Bard for the ninth-inning job despite a 5.29 ERA and 1.82 WHIP through 17 innings this season.

  • Camilo Doval RP | NYY

Giants' Camilo Doval: Sweats out save

Doval picked up the save Wednesday against the Phillies. He didn't allow a run but did surrender a hit and a walk while striking out one in an inning.

Doval only allowed one hit, but a walk and a HBP loaded the bases with two outs. He struck out Trea Turner with a slider to finish the game and collect his 11th save. The Giants' closer has been lights out in May, converting all eight save opportunities and striking out 13 across 8.2 innings.

  • Miguel Castro RP | CHW

Diamondbacks' Miguel Castro: Converts third save

Castro picked up the save Wednesday against the Athletics. He struck out one batter in a clean ninth inning.

Castro was called on in the ninth inning after Andrew Chafin pitched the previous two days, and he delivered a stress-free save, needing just 11 pitches to retire the side in order. Primarily used in a setup role, Castro has been excellent in 2023 with a 2.75 ERA and 0.97 WHIP.

  • Justin Bruihl RP | STL

Dodgers' Justin Bruihl: To be recalled Thursday

Bruihl will be recalled by the Dodgers before Thursday's series opener in St. Louis, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Dustin May is headed to the injured list in a corresponding move after suffering a flexor strain Wednesday afternoon against the Twins. Bruihl has posted a strong 2.53 ERA and 12:1 K:BB in 10.2 major-league innings this year and will fill a middle-relief role as the Dodgers plot out how to replace May in the rotation.

  • Karl Kauffmann RP | COL

Rockies' Karl Kauffmann: Friday debut confirmed

Rockies manager Bud Black confirmed Wednesday that Kauffmann will be called up to make his MLB debut Friday versus the Rangers, Suzie Hunter of TheDNVR.com reports.

Riley Pint has already been optioned out to open up a 26-man roster spot for Kauffmann, who will try to be a band-aid for the Rockies' injury-ravaged rotation. That's a big ask considering the 25-year-old has struggled to a 7.78 ERA, 1.78 WHIP and 26:12 K:BB in 37 innings (eight starts) this season with Triple-A Albuquerque. Friday's game is away from Coors Field, but Kauffmann is not a recommended fantasy streamer.

  • Riley Pint RP | COL

Rockies' Riley Pint: Optioned to Triple-A

Colorado optioned Pint to Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday, Danielle Allentuck of The Denver Gazette reports.

Pint made his MLB debut in a relief appearance Wednesday afternoon against the Reds and allowed one run on one hit and three walks while recording only one out. Karl Kauffmann will take over the vacant roster spot and start Friday against the Rangers.
