Alvarado earned a save against Atlanta on Thursday, allowing one hit and striking out two batters over 1.1 scoreless innings.

Alvarado entered in the eighth inning with two outs and the tying run on first base. He retired Matt Olson to end the frame, then stayed in for the ninth despite the fact that No. 1 closer David Robertson was warming in the bullpen. Alvarado took advantage of the opportunity by working around a two-out single to notch his second save of the campaign. Robertson and Seranthony Dominguez have struggled in September, so it's possible that Alvarado could get some more save chances moving forward.

Hughes exited Thursday's win over the Pirates after he rolled his ankle, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

The 26-year-old retired only one of the four batters he faced and allowed a hit and two walks before he exited with the injury. Manager David Ross said he believes Hughes is "going to be fine," though the left-hander figures to be unavailable for at least a day or two.

Leiter picked up the save Thursday in Pittsburgh, striking out four in 2.1 innings while walking two and hitting a batter in a 3-2 win.

Leiter entered the game in the seventh inning with the bases loaded and two outs and struck out Rodolfo Castro to end the inning. He walked a batter in the eighth and had runners on second and third with two outs in the ninth but escaped both situations unscathed. It was his third save of the season and second in September. In the second half, he's posted a 1.75 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 27:11 K:BB in 25.2 innings across 18 relief appearances.

Treinen (shoulder) will be shut down from throwing until he's re-evaluated Saturday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

The veteran right-hander was previously expected to be activated from the injured list Thursday, but he won't throw for a few days before the Dodgers decide the next steps to take in his rehab program. Manager Dave Roberts said Treinen "hasn't bounced back" from the shoulder injury as anticipated, leaving his availability for the closing stretch of the regular season, and the playoffs, up in the air.

Doval allowed a hit and struck out one across a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save Thursday against the Rockies.

Doval gave up a two-out hit but still successfully maintained a three-run lead to earn his 24th save of the season. He's now turned in nine consecutive scoreless appearances -- spanning 9.2 innings -- while maintaining a 12:1 K:BB. That stretch has added to Doval's excellent sophomore campaign, as he has a 2.42 ERA across 63.1 frames while blowing only three saves in 27 opportunities.

Gallegos picked up the save Thursday in San Diego, striking out one in a perfect ninth inning during a 5-4 win.

Gallegos needed just 10 pitches to record his 14th save of the season and first since Aug. 28. Ryan Helsley came on in the eighth inning to face the heart of the Padres' lineup, opening the door for Gallegos to pick up the save. He has not allowed a baserunner in seven of his eight outings in September and is holding batters to a .197 average on the season.

Hudson (knee) had his $6.5 million team option for the 2023 season picked up by the Dodgers on Thursday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Hudson was dominant for the Dodgers early in the season, converting five of six save chances while picking up nine holds with a 2.22 ERA and 0.90 WHIP in 24.1 innings over 25 appearances. However, he sustained a torn ACL in late June and was unavailable for the second half in the year. The right-hander should factor into the team's late-relief plans once again in 2023 once he completes his recovery.

Bednar (back) was reinstated from the 15-day injured list Thursday, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Bednar was on the injured list with his back injury since late July, but he recently made three rehab appearances at Triple-A Indianapolis and allowed a run on two hits and a walk while striking out four in three innings. The right-hander should reclaim closing duties from Wil Crowe over the final two weeks of the regular season.

Beede was outrighted to Triple-A Indianapolis on Thursday, Alex Stumpf of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.

After being designated for assignment by two different teams this season, Beede cleared waivers and is likely to end his season in Triple-A. Beede has covered 61.1 innings in 2022 with a 5.14 ERA and 1.63 WHIP. Once the minor league season wraps up, he will look to make another run at joining the big-league bullpen in 2023.

Suarez picked up a hold against the Cardinals on Wednesday with a perfect inning of work.

Padres starter Blake Snell tossed seven scoreless frames before departing having thrown 117 pitches. Suarez was called upon to be the bridge to closer Josh Hader and needed just 12 pitches to retire St. Louis in order. It was the former's seventh outing in September, and he's yet to give up a run this month. Suarez has emerged as a key high-leverage arm for San Diego this season, posting a 2.63 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 49:18 K:BB over 41 innings while notching four wins, one save and 10 holds.
