Doval allowed a hit and struck out one in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Cubs.

Doval turned in his fourth straight scoreless outing, spanning 4.1 innings with three saves and a win in that stretch. He's given up only four runs (two earned) in 15 innings since the start of August despite a 14:8 K:BB in that span. For the season, the Giants' closer has 21 saves, a 2.64 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 69:26 K:BB through 58 innings overall.

Bard earned a save against the Diamondbacks on Saturday, striking out one batter in a perfect inning of work.

Bard entered in the ninth with Colorado up by three runs and needed 16 pitches to retire Arizona in order. The veteran is up to 29 saves on the campaign, tied with Edwin Diaz for seventh-most in MLB. Bard faded in the second half last season but has been solid since the All-Star break this year, going 9-for-10 in save chances while posting a 2.16 ERA and 13:6 K:BB over 16.2 innings.

Gallegos (3-5) pitched a perfect inning and earned the win Saturday over the Pirates.

Gallegos kept the game tied at 4-4 in the eighth inning and ended up with the win when Nolan Arenado's three-run double put the Cardinals ahead in the ninth. It was a bounce-back effort for Gallegos after he yielded three runs in one-third of an inning versus the Nationals on Wednesday. The right-hander has a 3.27 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, 61:13 K:BB, 13 saves, nine holds and six blown saves through 52.1 innings this year. He remains one of the Cardinals' most trusted relievers.

Helsley allowed a run on two hits to earn the save in Saturday's 7-5 win over the Pirates. He did not strike out or walk a batter.

Helsley gave up an RBI single to Bryan Reynolds in the ninth inning, but the Cardinals' closer was able to diffuse the situation after that. He's given up a run in four of his last 10 appearances, though that may just be some evening out of his numbers after a remarkably strong start to the year. The right-hander owns a 1.12 ERA, 0.73 WHIP and 81:17 K:BB through 56.1 innings overall while converting 15 of 19 save chances and adding six holds in 46 appearances.

Jackson was recalled by the Dodgers on Saturday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Jackson was called up twice by the Dodgers previously this season but didn't make an appearance on either occasion. In 19 starts and two relief appearances for Triple-A Oklahoma this season, he's struggled to a 5.00 ERA and a 17.2 percent walk rate, so he'll likely be limited to low-leverage work during his time with the team. Blake Treinen (shoulder) hit the injured list in a corresponding move.

Treinen was placed on the injured list with right shoulder tightness Saturday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Shoulder issues have limited Treinen to just five appearances this season. While he returned from the injured list eight days ago, injury troubles quickly resurfaced. No timeline for his return this time around has been offered, but it's likely that the Dodgers will care more about maximizing his chances of pitching in the playoffs over getting him back as soon as possible. Andre Jackson was recalled to take his place in the bullpen.

Treinen (arm) didn't feel right after playing catch Saturday and could return to the injured list, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Shoulder troubles sidelined Treinen from mid-April through early September. While he's thrown a pair of scoreless innings since his return to action, his arm issues have resurfaced. Whether or not a potential trip to the injured list would be brief or season-ending remains to be seen.

Kelley was recalled by the Brewers on Saturday.

Kelley has bounced on and off the roster throughout the season. In 21 major-league innings, he owns a 6.00 ERA and 1.43 WHIP. Eric Lauer (elbow) landed on the injured list in a corresponding move.

Manager Bob Melvin said Saturday that Pomeranz (elbow) is probably not going to pitch this season, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Pomeranz recently received positive news regarding his left elbow, but he isn't expected to have enough time to ramp back up prior to the end of the season. The southpaw had his rehab assignment shut down Aug. 19, and although he'll likely be sidelined for the remainder of 2022, it wouldn't be surprising to see him available for the start of spring training in 2023.

Bednar (back) will require a rehab assignment prior to returning from the injured list, Justice delos Santos of MLB.com reports.

Bednar threw live batting practice Saturday and will ultimately need to spend some time in the minors before he's activated by the Pirates. The team hasn't yet determined the specifics of his rehab assignment, but it wouldn't be surprising to see the right-hander remain sidelined until at least late next week.
