Martinez was reinstated from the paternity list Monday.

Martinez spent the weekend with his wife and newborn, but he has rejoined the Padres and will be available out of San Diego's bullpen moving forward. He figures to fill a key role in front of new closer Josh Hader.

Knehr will be called up from Triple-A El Paso to start the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader with the Rockies at Petco Park, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Knehr will be pitching for the Padres for the first time since July 12 and just the fourth time all season. He hasn't allowed a run through 8.1 big-league innings in 2022, but he owns a 6.85 ERA and 1.64 WHIP across 67 frames at Triple-A.

Martin was optioned to Triple-A Reno on Monday.

Martin was knocked around by Atlanta in his last start, so he will return to Reno for the time being. Martin broke camp with the big club back in April, so he will likely get another shot to show what he can do at the top level before the season ends.

Ginkel was called up from Triple-A Reno on Monday.

Ginkel earned his way onto Arizona's roster by posting a 1.17 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 45:12 K:BB in 30.2 innings over 30 relief appearances with Reno. Despite the stellar numbers, don't expect him to occupy a key spot in Arizona's bullpen out of the gate.

Hernandez (illness) is scheduled to make a one-inning rehab appearance Monday with the Marlins' rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Hernandez has cleared all COVID-19-related protocols since landing on the injured list July 21 and can now turn his focus to getting ramped back up again. Since he's been away from the Marlins for the past week and a half, he could need another rehab appearance after Monday's outing before being activated from the IL.

Treinen (shoulder) will join the Dodgers on the road in San Francisco and throw a simulated game Wednesday, the Associated Press reports.

The Dodgers kick off a four-game set in San Francisco on Monday, and Treinen is expected to meet the club there before throwing a sim game Wednesday. The righty reliever faced live hitters July 29 for the first time since being placed on the injured list, tossing one inning without experiencing any setbacks. Treinen hasn't pitched in a big-league game since April 14, so he'll likely need an extended rehab stint once he's ready to return to game action.

Almonte earned a hold against Colorado on Sunday, striking out two batters over 1.1 scoreless innings.

Dodgers starter Tony Gonsolin gave up only one run but threw 92 pitches over five frames, and Almonte was brought in to protect a two-run lead in the sixth. The right-hander struck out two of the four batters he faced and registered his 10th straight scoreless outing. Almonte was outstanding in July, posting a 0.93 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 10:3 K:BB while picking up a save and two holds over 9.2 innings. He has a sparkling 1.23 ERA across 27 appearances on the campaign.

The Brewers acquired Lamet, left-handers Taylor Rogers and Robert Gasser and outfielder Esteury Ruiz from the Padres on Monday in exchange for left-hander Josh Hader, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Lamet may have been the headliner for the Brewers had this trade happened a couple years ago when he was a front-of-the-rotation arm for the Padres, but after enduring a litany of elbow problems, he converted to a full-time relief role ahead of the 2022 campaign. The right-hander has been able to steer clear of the injured list so far this season, but he hadn't emerged as a trusted late-inning arm for the Friars, as he turned in a 9.49 ERA, 2.03 WHIP and 16:9 K:BB across 12.1 innings out of the bullpen. The Brewers will see if they can coax better results out of him in the final two months of the campaign before deciding whether to tender him a contract ahead of his final year of arbitration this winter.

The Brewers acquired Rogers, left-hander Robert Gasser, right-hander Dinelson Lamet and outfielder Esteury Ruiz from the Padres on Monday in exchange for left-hander Josh Hader, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Rogers will be on the move for the second time this season after the Padres acquired him from the Twins on Opening Day with the hope that he would add stability to the ninth inning. Though he had a promising start to the campaign, Rogers was ultimately removed from the role last week after blowing two saves and allowing runs in each of his final three appearances in San Diego. The Padres quickly found an upgrade at the back end of the bullpen in Hader, but Rogers could recapture the closer's gig with his new team if the Brewers aren't eager to elevate ace setup man Devin Williams to the ninth-inning role. Until the Brewers clarify their bullpen plans in the post-Hader era, Rogers is worth holding in most leagues. Despite losing out on the job in San Diego, Rogers still converted 28 of his 35 save chances on the season and sported decent underlying ratios (2.35 FIP, 3.36 xFIP, 22.4 K-BB%).

The Padres acquired Hader from the Brewers on Monday in exchange for left-handers Taylor Rogers and Robert Gasser, right-hander Dinelson Lamet and outfielder Esteury Ruiz, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

San Diego will part with an extensive package of established big-league pitching talent (Rogers and Lamet) and two prospects (Ruiz and Gasser) to fortify the back of its bullpen with Hader, a four-time All-Star who has arguably been baseball's top reliever since he reached the majors in 2017. Hader has proven more vulnerable to the long ball in 2022 and has seen his ratios suffer a bit as a result (4.24 ERA, 1.12 WHIP), but he's still sporting an exceptional 33.3 K-BB% and had converted 29 of his 31 save chances on the year. He'll provide a significant upgrade at closer over Rogers, who had recently been dropped from the role after a series of poor outings. The Brewers, meanwhile, are likely to either elevate ace setup man Devin Williams to the closer's role or give Rogers a chance to reclaim his old job as he changes organizations.
