Kilian was optioned to Triple-A Iowa after Saturday's doubleheader, Tim Stebbins of NBC Sports Chicago reports.

He gave Cubs fans and fantasy managers a glimpse of his potential in his big-league debut Saturday, in which he struck out six and allowed three earned runs over five innings. The Cubs didn't plan on having Kilian debut this weekend, but injuries to other pitchers forced their hand with four games in three days. That said, the Cubs' top pitching prospect will probably be back in the big-league rotation for good at some point in the coming weeks.

Webb was designated for assignment Sunday, Jody Jackson of Bally Sports Arizona reports.

Webb gave up six earned runs in 5.1 innings at Triple-A this year. The move frees up a 40-man roster spot for Cole Tucker, who was claimed off waivers.

Rogers (0-2) allowed a run on one hit and a hit batter while striking out one in 1.1 innings to take the loss Saturday versus the Marlins.

Manager Gabe Kapler tried to get a second inning out of Rogers after he pitched a scoreless eighth, but he made a mess of the ninth. A single, a hit batter and a balk put two runners in scoring position, and Jesus Sanchez walked it off with a sacrifice fly. This ended Rogers' four-inning scoreless streak over his last three appearances, though it was his first loss since April 11. He owns a 6.04 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 13:6 K:BB while logging eight holds and a blown save across 22.1 innings as a high-leverage option this year.

Helsley allowed two hits and struck out two over 2.2 innings while permitting two inherited runners to score in Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader versus the Cubs. He took a blown save.

Helsley was unable to navigate the traffic Drew VerHagen put on the basepaths in the sixth inning. It's a harsh blown save given the timing and the stat line, but it doesn't discount that Helsley has started to push for more high-leverage usage. He's logged two saves and given up just one run in his last 7.2 innings across six appearances. For the season, the 27-year-old right-hander has a 0.42 ERA, 0.52 WHIP and 30:5 K:BB across 21.1 innings. He's logged three saves, four holds and two blown saves while serving as a closing option alongside Giovanny Gallegos.

Gallegos (1-2) allowed an unearned run on two hits and a walk with five strikeouts over two innings to earn the win in Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader versus the Cubs.

Gallegos kept the game tied in the ninth inning and also pitched the 10th, allowing an RBI double to Jason Heyward. Luckily for Gallegos, the Cardinals had established a four-run lead in the 10th, and he was able to finish off the contest for his first win of the year. The 30-year-old right-hander has allowed runs in consecutive appearances for just the second time this year. He has a 3.48 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 28:5 K:BB across 20.2 innings while converting eight of his 11 save chances. He's started to see some closing opportunities go to Ryan Helsley, which makes the Cardinals' situation a two-man closer committee for now.

Rainey gave up a solo home run among two hits while striking out two in the ninth inning Saturday to record his seventh save of the season in a 10-8 win over the Reds.

Handed a three-run lead after the Nationals' offense came to life in the final frames, Rainey needed the cushion after he served up a solo shot to Brandon Drury. It was the first homer Rainey has allowed this season, and the right-hander will take a 2.60 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 20:6 K:BB through 17.1 innings into his next appearance.

Pallante didn't factor into the decision in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Cubs, allowing one run on four hits and four walks over four innings. He struck out two.

The Cardinals got the win in 10 innings, but Pallante was long gone by then after throwing 64 pitches (36 strikes). The right-hander was making his first start of the season after working at least three innings in each of his prior two appearances, and he will now likely return to a long-relief role. Pallante's control remains an issue -- he has a 1.23 ERA through 29.1 innings with a win and four holds, but the 23-year-old rookie's 1.47 WHIP and 20:14 K:BB are shaky.

Kilian gave up three earned runs on three hits and two walks while striking out six in five innings Saturday in Game 2 of the doubleheader against the Cardinals. He did not factor in the decision.

The Cubs' top pitching prospect, Kilian made his long-awaited debut in the nightcap against St. Louis and was perfect through the first three innings, including striking out the first two batters he faced. The Cardinals struck for three runs in the fourth inning with the top of the lineup getting a second look at Kilian. He leaned on his 93-mph sinker (touched 97 mph) and his 89-mph cutter (touched 92 mph) while also mixing in his 95-mph four-seamer and his curveball. It remains to be seen if Kilian will stick in a six-man rotation, but he could be optioned back to Triple-A Iowa when Chris Martin is activated from the bereavement list.

Diamondbacks pitching coach Brent Strom said Gilbert will "probably" start Tuesday in Cincinnati, Jose M. Romero of the Arizona Republic reports.

Gilbert, who is currently on the taxi squad while Arizona is on the road, would be taking the spot vacated by the injured Humberto Castellanos (elbow). The left-hander has made three appearances for Arizona this season, posting a 5.02 ERA while allowing five home runs in 14.1 innings.

Melancon (1-6) took the loss Saturday versus the Pirates. He allowed two runs on two hits without recording an out.

Melancon was taken deep by Jack Suwinski for a walkoff two-run home run in the ninth inning. This was the fifth time in 22 appearances Melancon has allowed multiple runs. He's now 11-for-13 in save chances while sporting an ugly 6.87 ERA, 1.80 WHIP and 11:5 K:BB through 18.1 innings. Ian Kennedy or Joe Mantiply could be options for saves if Melancon's struggles continue deeper into the season.
