Gage started Sunday's 5-3 loss to the Mets, tossing a perfect inning while striking out one.

Gage made his first major-league start in Sunday's bullpen game, throwing seven of his 10 pitches for strikes. The left-hander had his contract selected from Triple-A Sacramento on July 18 and has now appeared in four games with San Francisco, surrendering a hit and a walk while striking out five across five innings. The 32-year-old has yet to give up a run through 10 outings between the Tigers and Giants this season, allowing eight hits with an 8:3 K:BB across 10.2 innings.

The Giants optioned Hjelle to Triple-A Sacramento on Monday.

Hjelle made two relief appearances during his most recent stint with the big club, getting charged with three runs over two frames. His removal from the 26-man active roster clears a spot for lefty Carson Whisenhunt, who will be called up from Sacramento to make his major-league debut Monday against the Pirates.

Atlanta optioned Stratton to Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday.

He's clearing out to make room on the roster for Erick Fedde, who has officially reported to the team after being acquired via trade with the Cardinals on Sunday. Stratton made one appearance during his brief time with Atlanta, tossing two-thirds of a scoreless inning despite yielding one hit, one walk and one hit batsman.

Henriquez blew the save Sunday against Milwaukee, allowing one run on two hits and a walk over one inning. He struck out one.

Henriquez took the mound for the eighth inning and yielded ground-rule doubles to Jackson Chourio and Andrew Vaughn, the second of which plated the game-tying run. Henriquez and Calvin Faucher have been the primary members of Miami's closing committee of late, and it doesn't appear that either has pulled ahead. Henriquez has allowed a run in three of his last four appearances, and his ERA stands at 3.06 after 50 innings this season.

Megill (3-2) allowed one hit and no walks with one strikeout during a scoreless ninth inning Sunday to earn the win against Miami.

Megill wound up with the win Sunday after Blake Perkins delivered a walk-off single in the bottom half of the ninth frame. The closer has 23 saves on the season, and he's a few days from finishing a near-perfect month. In seven appearances during July, Megill has allowed just two hits and a walk over seven scoreless innings. On the year, Megill has a 2.21 ERA across 36.2 innings.

Bivens allowed two runs on six hits and a walk while striking out three over three innings of relief in a no-decision versus the Mets on Sunday.

This was a bullpen game for the Giants, though Bivens had the heaviest workload. He threw 41 of 58 pitches for strikes in a decent performance to help give the Giants' ailing rotation a day off. Bivens has a 4.58 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 43:17 K:BB through 53 innings over 35 relief appearances this season. He has minimal past experience as a starter, so expect the 31-year-old right-hander to continue to serve as a multi-inning reliever.

Diaz walked two and hit a batter while striking out two over a scoreless and hitless inning to earn the save in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Giants.

Diaz loaded the bases with one out but was able to clean up the mess without snapping his scoreless streak, which is up to 17.1 innings. The closer's lone mistake in that span was allowing an inherited runner to score July 20 versus the Reds to take a blown save. He's plunked four batters over his last five appearances, but he's not at risk of losing closing duties at this time. For the season, Diaz has been elite with a 1.48 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 64:16 K:BB while converting 23 of 25 save chances through 42.2 innings.

Pagan struck out one batter in a perfect inning and earned a save against Tampa Bay on Sunday.

Pagan threw 10 of 13 pitches for strikes and made quick work of the Rays' 2-3-4 hitters to close out the 2-1 victory. It was his seventh straight scoreless appearance, and he's allowed just two runs over 18.2 frames (0.96 ERA ) since the start of June. Pagan owns a 2.64 ERA with a 53:14 K:BB and 22 saves over 44.1 innings.

Lord is slated to start Monday's game against the Astros in Houston, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Lord had been pitching out of the bullpen since the middle of May before he re-entered the rotation last week, filling the spot that previously belonged to Shinnosuke Ogasawara and Trevor Williams (elbow). Though he was limited to 50 pitches in his previous start last Tuesday versus the Reds, Lord cruised through four innings, allowing one earned run on six hits and zero walks. He'll likely push his pitch count up to the 60-to-70 range Monday, and another strong effort should give Lord some more security in the Washington rotation.

Palencia tossed 1.1 scoreless innings of relief with a strikeout to earn the save in Sunday's 5-4 win over the White Sox.

Palencia got the last out of the bottom of the eighth inning, ending a three-run White Sox rally, and then breezed through the ninth for his 14th save of the year in 15 chances. The righty has been particularly good lately, as he's now rattled off 10 straight appearances without allowing any earned runs. That's allowed Palencia to lower his ERA to a sparkling 1.43, and he's cemented his status as the Cubs' closer, with the likes of Ryan Pressly, Caleb Thielbar, Drew Pomeranz and Ryan Brasier working in setup roles.
