Beede walked three and struck out two over two scoreless innings in Tuesday's 13-2 win over the Padres.

Beede didn't have to be sharp with the Giants carrying a big lead. He threw just 15 of his 35 pitches for strikes in his season debut. The right-hander is with the Giants to begin the season as a multi-inning reliever, though he's viewed as a potential starter should an opening in the rotation surface. Beede didn't pitch in the majors last year after he recovered from Tommy John surgery. He posted a 6.66 ERA, 1.97 WHIP and 50:45 K:BB in 48.2 innings with Triple-A Sacramento. Given that high walk rate, it'll be important to keep an eye on his control as he progresses through the season.

Melancon (0-1) took the loss in Tuesday's 2-1 defeat at the hands of the Astros, allowing one run on two hits and a walk in one inning.

Melancon entered a tie game in the ninth and recorded two initial outs, but then surrendered three baserunners and a run to fall in line for the loss. It was discouraging to see the 37-year-old falter during his first high-leverage appearance of the season, especially considering Arizona's struggle at the closer spot last year and low expected win total.

Adams was removed from Tuesday's game against the Giants with an apparent injury, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Adams delivered 1.1 scoreless frames out of the bullpen before leaving the field with the training staff during the fifth inning. The specifics of the issue are unclear, and the 30-year-old should be considered day-to-day until the team updates his status.

Bard saved Tuesday's 4-1 triumph over the Rangers, allowing a hit and hitting a batter in a scoreless ninth inning.

One night after blowing the save, Bard was able to work out of a two-on, one-out jam to secure the Colorado victory. The 36-year-old is separating himself as the Rockies' clear No. 1 closing option.

Guerra was designated for assignment by the Padres on Tuesday.

Guerra surrendered four earned runs over two innings during his lone appearance of the season Sunday against the Diamondbacks, and he won't retain his spot on the Friars' 40-man roster. San Diego claimed Kyle Tyler off waivers in a corresponding move.

Robertson pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Pirates.

Robertson has now recorded each of the Cubs' first two saves of the season, so it looks like he's ahead of Rowan Wick and others in the bullpen pecking order. Manager David Ross may still mix and match depending on matchups moving forward, but the veteran righty appears to be the preferred Chicago reliever from a fantasy perspective at the moment.

Kranick (forearm) is scheduled to make a rehab start Tuesday for Low-A Bradenton.

Kranick didn't see any action during the Grapefruit League slate while he recovered from a right forearm strain, so Tuesday's outing will likely be the first of multiple rehab appearances for the 24-year-old before he's activated from the 10-day injured list. The time Kranick missed along with the fact that he has minor-league options remaining likely means that he'll be sent to Triple-A Indianapolis once reinstated, though the organization's plans for him could change if the big club has an opening in the rotation a few weeks down the road.

Marte was called up by the Giants on Tuesday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

The 27-year-old has yet to make his major-league debut. In 87 career innings at the Triple-A level, he owns a 4.14 ERA and 1.48 WHIP, striking out 26.9 percent of opposing batters while walking 9.5 percent. He'll replace Tyler Rogers, who landed on the paternity list, though Marte will likely be limited to low-leverage work.

Rogers was placed on the paternity leave as expected Tuesday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Rogers took the loss against his twin brother Taylor's Padres on Monday and will now be unavailable for a few days. He'll likely return during the weekend series in Cleveland. Yunior Marte was recalled to take Rogers' place on the roster.

May said Tuesday that he doesn't think he'll require a stint on the 10-day injured list after an MRI on his arm revealed a "very, very low-grade triceps strain," Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

The Mets will stay away from May for the remaining two games of its series in Philadelphia, but he appears to have steered clear of any major damage after experiencing arm fatigue during his appearance in Monday's 5-4 loss to the Phillies. After getting a couple days of rest and anti-inflammatory treatment to address the injury, May will be re-evaluated on Thursday's off day. Assuming he shows the desired improvement, he should be available for this weekend's home series versus the Diamondbacks.
