Mets' Alex Carrillo: Optioned to Triple-A

The Mets optioned Carrillo to Triple-A Syracuse on Friday, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports.

Carrillo made his MLB debut earlier this month and pitched in three total games after he was recalled, turning in a 13.50 ERA, 1.71 WHIP and 4:2 K:BB across 4.2 innings of relief. Jose Castillo had his contract selected and will take Carrillo's spot in the bullpen.

  • Nick Anderson RP | ATH

    Rockies' Nick Anderson: Contract selected

The Rockies selected Anderson's contract from Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday.

The right-hander joined Colorado on a minor-league deal in late May and will now receive his first look in the majors in 2025. Anderson didn't pitch particularly well in 14 appearances for Albuquerque with a 5.11 ERA, 1.74 WHIP and 15:7 K:BB over 12.1 innings.

  • Luis Mey RP | CIN

Reds' Luis Mey: Up with Reds

The Reds recalled Mey from Triple-A Louisville on Friday.

He'll fill in for Scott Barlow (paternity) in the Reds bullpen. Mey has appeared in 15 games with Cincinnati, logging a 4.40 ERA and 15:10 K:BB across 14.1 innings. He has posted a 2.84 ERA in 25 innings at Triple-A.

  • Victor Vodnik RP | COL

Rockies' Victor Vodnik: Lands on paternity list

The Rockies placed Vodnik on the paternity list Friday.

The right-hander will step away from the team for a few days in order to be with his growing family. Vodnik should be back with the Rockies by Monday's series opener in Cleveland.

  • Scott Barlow RP | ATH

Reds' Scott Barlow: On paternity list

The Reds placed Barlow on the paternity list Friday.

Barlow will be temporarily away from the team for personal reasons. While he's away, Luis Mey will fill the vacated spot in the bullpen. Barlow has a 3.53 ERA in 44.2 innings of relief this season.

  • Freddy Tarnok RP | MIA

Marlins' Freddy Tarnok: Brought up to bigs

The Marlins recalled Tarnok from Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday.

Tarnok will join the 26-man roster in place of Lake Bachar, who's been put on the paternity list. Tarnok has pitched two scoreless innings with the Marlins this season and owns a 3.90 ERA in 55.1 innings at Triple-A.

  • Lake Bachar P | MIA

Marlins' Lake Bachar: On paternity list

The Marlins placed Bachar on the paternity list Friday.

Bachar will miss up to three games to attend to personal matters. Freddy Tarnok was recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville in a corresponding move. Bachar has a 3.15 ERA and a 48:21 K:BB across 45.2 innings of relief in 2025.

  • Gregory Soto RP | PIT

Mets' Gregory Soto: Sent to Mets

The Mets acquired Soto from the Orioles on Friday in exchange for pitching prospects Wellington Aracena and Cameron Foster, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.

The veteran left-hander is on the move at the trade deadline for a second consecutive year after being dealt from Philadelphia to Baltimore in 2024. Soto has served as a setup man for the Orioles this season with one save and 18 holds, and he has a 3.96 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 44:18 K:BB over 36.1 innings. He should fill a similar role in Queens in front of closer Edwin Diaz.

  • Joey Wentz SP | ATL

Braves' Joey Wentz: Receiving another start

Wentz is slated to start Friday's game against the Rangers in Arlington.

Wentz will pick up a second straight start after he struck out two over four scoreless innings in his first turn through the rotation out of the All-Star break this past Saturday against the Yankees. After having mostly served as a reliever this season across stops with Pittsburgh, Minnesota and now Atlanta, Wentz is still in the process of getting stretched out, so he could be limited to around five innings or 70 pitches Friday.

  • Ryan Helsley RP | BAL

Cardinals' Ryan Helsley: Notches 20th save

Helsley struck out two and allowed a hit in a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save Thursday against the Padres.

The right-hander picked up his first save since July 13 and has converted seven straight chances, giving up just one earned run across his past 10 appearances. In 2025, Helsley has rarely looked like the closer that led the league with 49 saves last season, but he's still expected to garner significant interest on the trade market with a 3.09 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 39:14 K:BB over 35 innings this year.
