Rainey struck out two over 1.2 perfect innings Tuesday to record his fourth hold of the season in a 2-1 win over the Mets.

With Sean Doolittle struggling to begin the year and Will Harris (groin) out since late July, Rainey has stepped up and emerged as a dependable high-leverage arm for manager Dave Martinez. Through eight appearances and 8.1 innings, Rainey has a win to go along with his holds, and his 1.08 ERA, 0.36 WHIP and 11:2 K:BB are all elite. The 27-year-old won't maintain a .000 BABIP forever -- the only hit he allowed was a solo homer, accounting for the only run against him so far -- but Rainey has become a fantasy asset in formats that value holds.

Hudson struck out two in a perfect ninth inning Tuesday to record his third save of the season in a 2-1 win over the Mets.

The veteran right-hander has been mostly effective to begin the year, getting scored upon in only one of his six appearances and converting three of his four save chances. With Sean Doolittle working in low-leverage spots right now as he tries to regain the late movement on his fastball, Hudson has the closer job to himself.

Pomeranz retired the only batter he faced Tuesday to pick up a save against the Dodgers.

Saves don't come much easier than the one Pomeranz nabbed Tuesday as the right-hander needed only one pitch to induce a flyout and close out the win. He entered with a pair of runners aboard with two outs in the ninth inning, though he had plenty of margin for error as the Padres were ahead by four runs. The save was the second in as many days for Pomeranz, who entered the campaign expected to fill a setup role but has instead tallied four saves on the season, tied for fourth most in baseball.

Ginkel (0-1) failed to record an out Tuesday, allowing four runs on three hits and a walk and taking the loss versus the Rockies.

Ginkel was responsible for four of the Rockies' six runs in the eighth inning Tuesday. It's the second time he's allowed four runs in an appearance, after doing the same over two-thirds of an inning Opening Day. The 26-year-old Ginkel has an unsightly 16.20 ERA with six strikeouts in five innings across seven appearances.

Estevez (1-0) tossed a scoreless inning, allowing one walk and striking out one, to earn the win Tuesday versus the Diamondbacks.

Estevez worked the eighth inning, and the Rockies exploded for six runs in the bottom half of the inning to put him in line for the win. The Rockies' bullpen gave away five of those runs in the ninth, but Daniel Bard closed it out to earn Estevez his first win of the year. The 27-year-old right-hander has a 0.96 ERA and 1.29 WHIP with seven strikeouts in 9.1 innings this season. Estevez has seen high-leverage usage in 2020, and he's collected three holds.

Bard recorded the final out via strikeout to earn the save in Tuesday's 8-7 win over the Diamondbacks.

Phillip Diehl and Jairo Diaz combined to allow five runs while recording just two outs in the ninth inning, but Bard was able to whiff pinch hitter Stephen Vogt to lock down the save, his first of the year. Bard has a 3.00 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 12 strikeouts across nine innings this season. He's not expected to get many chances for saves -- ninth-inning duties have typically gone to Diaz or Wade Davis this season.

Hernandez three runs on four hits and one walk over 5.1 innings during Tuesday's extra-inning loss to Toronto. He had five strikeouts and didn't factor in the decision.

The 25-year-old cruised through five innings and allowed only two baserunners, but things fell apart in the sixth with a pair of doubles, followed by a home run. Still, it was a positive outing for Hernandez, who's given up three runs on six hits with a 10:2 K:BB over 9.2 innings across his first two starts. He lines up for a matchup versus the Braves on Sunday.

Neris allowed three earned runs on three hits and two walks while striking out two to blow the save Tuesday against the Orioles.

Neris entered the game in the ninth inning with a 6-5 lead. He managed to retire one of the first two batters he faced, but then went on to allow two singles, a double and a walk while allowing three earned runs. Entering Tuesday's contest, Neris had not allowed a run in three appearances. Given that form and the struggles of Philadelphia's bullpen overall, Neris is likely to continue to see save chances moving forward despite this poor performance.

Holmes (forearm) was transferred to the 45-day injured list Tuesday, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.

Holmes has been sidelined since the end of July with a right forearm strain. The team wasn't initially anticipating a very long absence, but the issue is evidently more serious than they thought. The 27-year-old will be eligible to return late in the 2020 campaign, but it wouldn't be surprising if the team shut him down for the remainder of the season so he can fully recover. Right-hander Nick Tropeano was claimed off waivers and optioned to the alternate training site to take Holmes' spot on the 40-man roster.

Robertson (elbow) will throw in Philadelphia within the next few days before heading to the team's alternate training site, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Robertson is working his way back from Tommy John surgery, a procedure he underwent back in August of 2019. If his recovery continues smoothly, he'll have a shot to pitch at some point late this season, though the Phillies have yet to announce a target date for his return.
