Kimbrel will throw live batting practice Saturday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

Kimbrel tossed live batting practice Thursday, and he'll throw one more session Saturday before potentially being assigned to Triple-A Iowa, where he'll make at least a few appearances before joining the big-league squad.

Dominguez (elbow) won't require Tommy John surgery, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

He visited with Dr. James Andrews, who recommended a PRP injection instead of surgery. Dominguez will be re-evaluated in three weeks and could be throwing in four-to-six weeks. Given the timing of his injury, it makes sense for Dominguez to attempt to recover via non-surgical means, as he'd likely be out for the rest of 2019 and potentially all of 2020 if he went under the knife -- an option that of course remains on the table if the attempt to treat the injury with an injection is deemed a failure.

Leone was recalled to be the Cardinals' 26th man for Friday's games against the Mets.

The teams are eligible for an extra man as they'll be completing Thursday's suspended game before starting Friday's previously scheduled contest. Leone owns an 8.02 ERA in 21.1 innings for the Cardinals this season.

Gallegos, who fired 1.2 perfect innings during which he recorded three strikeouts against the Mets on Thursday, has now logged eight straight scoreless appearances.

The 27-year-old right-hander has whittled his ERA down from 4.35 to 2.97 while allowing just three hits and generating a sparkling 12:0 K:BB over the 9.2 innings encompassing that span. It's Gallegos' best stretch of pitching this season, one that's rendered him an especially valuable component of the Cards' middle-relief corps. Gallegos has already worked 30.1 innings despite not making his first appearance until April 11.

Strahm (2-6) took the loss against the Rockies on Thursday, pitching 3.1 innings and giving up six runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out four.

Strahm missed only one start after being diagnosed with a rib strain and was tasked with the difficult assignment of pitching in Colorado upon his return. Though Strahm gave up a homer to Trevor Story and Charlie Blackmon, his control was as much to blame for the poor outing as the altitude; he threw only 11 of 21 first pitches for strikes and set a career high by walking four batters. Strahm has followed a strong 10-strikeout appearance against the Yankees on May 27 with a pair of duds in which he has allowed 13 earned runs in 7.2 innings to raise his season ERA from 3.21 to 4.66. He'll try to turn things around when he faces the Brewers on Tuesday in his next scheduled start.

Kimbrel will throw live batting practice Thursday, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Kimbrel has been cleared to face hitters after completing a bullpen session with no issues earlier in the week. If all goes well during Thursday's live BP session, Kimbrel could be cleared to join Triple-A Iowa for a few tune-up appearances before making his debut with the Cubs.

Collins was recalled from Triple-A Iowa on Thursday, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.

Collins will provide an additional left-handed arm out of the bullpen for Chicago's upcoming series against the Dodgers. He'll take the roster spot of Carl Edwards Jr. (back), who was sent to the injured list Thursday. In five appearances for the Cubs this season, the southpaw has compiled a 3.86 ERA, 1.93 WHIP and 2:2 K:BB in 4.2 innings.

Edwards was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left thoracic strain, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.

Edwards apparently reported the soreness earlier in the week, which helps explain why he hasn't appeared in a game since Sunday. The severity of the issue is not yet known, leaving the reliever without a timetable for his return. Prior to suffering the injury, the right-hander had compiled a 2.03 ERA and 15:3 K:BB in 13.1 innings since returning from the minors at the beginning of May. Tim Collins was recalled from Triple-A Iowa to take his place on the roster.

Strahm (ribs) was activated from the 10-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Thursday against the Rockies.

As expected, Strahm is set to rejoin the rotation after a minimum stay on the 10-day injured list with a rib injury. The left-hander posted a 4.03 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 56:11 K:BB in 11 starts (60.1 innings) prior to landing on the shelf. Robert Stock was sent to the minors in a corresponding move.

Williams (shoulder) is beginning a throwing program, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.

He was throwing back in May but must have been shut down briefly at some point in the last month. Williams will provide organizational bullpen depth once healthy.
