Austin Kitchen RP | SEA
Marlins' Austin Kitchen: DFA'd by Fish
The Marlins designated Kitchen for assignment Saturday.
While serving as the opener for Friday's game against the Phillies, Kitchen surrendered seven runs (six earned) over just two innings. He'll now be cast off the active and 40-man rosters, and a 3.35 ERA at Triple-A could attract attention from other organizations looking to boost their minor-league pitching depth.

Anthony Maldonado RP | HOU
Marlins' Anthony Maldonado: Optioned to Jacksonville
The Marlins optioned Maldonado to Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday.
Maldonado appeared in three games for the Marlins after being recalled from Triple-A on Tuesday, but he'll now be sent back to the minors after surrendering three runs in one inning during Friday's blowout loss to the Phillies. Despite his 6.75 ERA through 16 MLB innings, there's still a chance the 26-year-old righty returns as bullpen depth down the stretch.

Andrew Nardi RP | MIA
Marlins' Andrew Nardi: Moves to 60-day IL
The Marlins transferred Nardi (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Saturday.
Nardi was initially deactivated Aug. 24, so his move to the 60-day IL will officially rule him out for the rest of the season. The 26-year-old southpaw will close the book on 2024 with a 5.07 ERA and 1.25 WHIP alongside a 70:18 K:BB across 49.2 innings.

Calvin Faucher RP | MIA
Marlins' Calvin Faucher: Placed on injured list
The Marlins placed Faucher on the 15-day injured list Saturday with a right shoulder impingement.
Faucher has been one of the most reliable members of Miami's bullpen this season, posting a 3.19 ERA and 1.40 WHIP through 53.2 innings while picking up six saves and 11 holds. Now that he's set to miss roughly two weeks, it's unclear who Miami will turn to in high-leverage situations, though Anthony Bender, John McMillon and Jesus Tinoco would seem to be the most likely candidates for ninth-inning work.

Jose Cuas RP | KC
Phillies' Jose Cuas: Claimed by Phillies
The Phillies claimed Cuas off waivers from Toronto and optioned him to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Saturday, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Cuas was DFA'd by the Blue Jays on Thursday after allowing three runs in three innings spanning four appearances. The 30-year-old will get a fresh start with the Phillies, though he'll start out in the minors at Lehigh Valley.

Jonathan Bermudez RP | MIA
Marlins' Jonathan Bermudez: Selected from Triple-A
The Marlins selected Bermudez's contract from Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday.
Just four days after being sent outright to Jacksonville, Bermudez will now rejoin the active roster to give the Marlins an additional bullpen arm capable of handling multiple innings. The 28-year-old southpaw allowed two earned runs in 3.2 innings during his MLB debut Aug. 27 and will presumably be used in long relief again while with the Marlins. Austin Kitchen was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.
-
Lake Bachar P | MIA
Marlins' Lake Bachar: Recalled from Triple-A
The Marlins recalled Bachar from Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday.
Bachar was sent to Triple-A after being claimed off waivers from San Diego on Tuesday, and he'll now join the big-league squad after just four days with his new organization. The 29-year-old righty owns a 3.86 ERA and 1.46 WHIP across 74.2 innings in the minors this season, and he'll be making his MLB debut whenever he gets into a game.
-
George Soriano RP | STL
Marlins' George Soriano: Up from Jacksonville
The Marlins recalled Soriano from Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday.
Soriano owns a 6.26 ERA and 1.39 WHIP through 23 innings in the majors this season, but he'll be promoted nonetheless to give the Fish another fresh arm to use out of the bullpen. He'll most likely be used in low-leverage situations while with Miami.
-
Anthony Bender RP | MIA
Marlins' Anthony Bender: Reinstated from IL
The Marlins reinstated Bender (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Saturday.
Bender has been on the shelf since mid-August due to a right shoulder impingement, but he's been cleared to return to Miami's bullpen after allowing one run in three innings during a rehab assignment with Triple-A Jacksonville. The 29-year-old holds a 4.00 ERA and 1.27 WHIP through 45 innings in the majors, though a lack of depth in the Marlins' bullpen has allowed him to work in several high-leverage situations.
-
Kyle Leahy RP | STL
Cardinals' Kyle Leahy: Optioned to Memphis
The Cardinals optioned Leahy to Triple-A Memphis on Saturday.
Leahy has turned in a 4.30 ERA and 0.95 WHIP over 14.2 innings since being recalled from the minors in late-July, though he'll now be sent back to Triple-A after giving up three runs over 1.1 frames during Friday's loss. Chris Roycroft was recalled from Memphis in a corresponding move.
