Nationals' Kyle Finnegan: Notches final out for 26th save
Finnegan earned the save in Friday's 8-5 win over the Reds, allowing one walk before recording the final out.
It didn't appear that Finnegan would be needed Friday, as the Nationals carried an 8-1 lead into the ninth. However, Jose Ferrer and Derek Law would combine to allow four runs in the frame, forcing the Nats to turn to Finnegan with two outs. The right-hander would issue a walk before ultimately getting Elly De La Cruz to ground out to seal an 8-5 win. The 32-year-old Finnegan has been excellent for Washington this year -- he's up to 26 saves, third-most in the league, with a 2.43 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 42:14 K:BB across 40.2 innings.

Reds' Brent Suter: Exits with injury
Suter was removed from Friday's game against the Nationals due to left shoulder tightness, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Suter was only able to get through two-thirds of an inning on seven pitches before exiting alongside a trainer. The 34-year-old southpaw may be unavailable for at least a game or two while the Reds determine the severity of the issue.

Pirates' Hunter Stratton: Rehab moved to Triple-A
Stratton (triceps) will continue his rehab assignment with Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.
Stratton has made a pair of rehab appearances for the Pirates' Florida Complex League affiliate, tossing two scoreless innings. The 27-year-old shouldn't require much work with Indianapolis before being reinstated. Prior to the injury, Stratton posted a 4.26 ERA across 31.2 innings with the Pirates.

Rockies' Lucas Gilbreath: Set for rehab assignment
Gilbreath (elbow) will throw a bullpen session Saturday and will begin a rehab assignment in the Arizona Complex League early next week, Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com reports.
Gilbreath continues to work his way back from Tommy John surgery in March of 2023. He was slated to return to the majors earlier this season, but that was pushed back after he strained his shoulder in May, prompting a move to the 60-day injured list. he appears ready to begin ramping back up, however. In his last full season in 2022 with the Rockies, Gilbreath posted a 4.19 ERA and 1.47 WHIP across 43 innings.

Diamondbacks' Paul Sewald: Locks down 14th save
Sewald earned the save in Friday's 5-2 win over the Cubs, allowing two hits while striking out two in the ninth inning.
The Cubs got the tying run to the plate after Sewald gave up back-to-back one-out singles. However, he'd rebound to strike out Michael Busch and Seiya Suzuki, closing out the Diamondback's victory for his 14th save of the year. After blowing three straight save opportunities earlier this month, Sewald's now delivered four consecutive scoreless innings while converting his last three save chances. The 34-year-old right-hander sports a 3.22 ERA with a 0.85 WHIP and 22:4 K:BB across 22.1 innings this season.

Cardinals' Riley O'Brien: Starting rehab assignment
O'Brien (forearm) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Memphis on Friday, John Denton of MLB.com reports.
O'Brien has been shelved since Opening Day due to a strained forearm but has finally been cleared for a rehab stint The 29-year-old has completed three live batting practice sessions and could rejoin the Cardinals' bullpen before the end of July.

Dodgers' Joe Kelly: Comes off injured list
The Dodgers activated Kelly (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list Friday.
Kelly has been shelved since May 6 due to a strained right shoulder. Prior to the injury, the 36-year-old logged a 4.73 ERA and nine holds across 13.1 innings. Michael Petersen was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City and Jose Hernandez was DFA'd to make room for Kelly on the active and 40-man rosters.

Cubs' Luke Little: Undergoing MRI on shoulder
Little will undergo an MRI on his injured left shoulder Friday, Bruce Levine of 670TheScore.com reports.
Little landed on the 15-day injured list just before the All-Star break and will now go through imaging to assess the severity of the issue. The left-handed reliever has put up a 3.46 ERA and 28:18 K:BB over 26 innings out of the Cubs' bullpen in 2024.

Nationals' Amos Willingham: Optioned to Triple-A
The Nationals optioned Willingham to Triple-A Rochester on Friday, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.
He made one appearance during his brief time with the big club, allowing two runs over an inning of work. Willingham is being cleared out to make room for Jose Ferrer in the Nationals' bullpen.

Nationals' Jose Ferrer: Rejoins bullpen
The Nationals activated Ferrer (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list Friday, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.
Ferrer has been out all season with a strain of the teres major muscle in his left shoulder. He will give the team a second left-hander in the bullpen behind Robert Garcia, something the Nationals have not had in 2024 until now.
