  • Jose Ferrer RP | SEA

Nationals' Jose Ferrer: Throwing from 120 feet

Ferrer (shoulder) recently extended his throwing distance from flat ground to 120 feet, MLB.com reports.

Ferrer has been making slow progress in his recovery from a teres major strain in his left shoulder, an injury that first cropped up during spring training. He's been limited to playing catch for nearly a month, though he could soon be ready to resume throwing off a mound. Ferrer is likely at least a couple of weeks from heading out on a minor-league rehab assignment and probably won't be a realistic option to return from the 60-day injured list until the second half of June.

  • Dedniel Nunez SP | NYM

Mets' Dedniel Nunez: Recalled from Triple-A

The Mets recalled Nunez from Triple-A Syracuse on Friday, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.

Nunez has allowed three runs while boasting a 13:3 K:BB over 8.1 innings out of the Mets' bullpen this season. He will operate in middle relief.

  • Danny Young RP | ATL

Mets' Danny Young: Nabs win in return

Young (2-0) picked up the win Thursday over the Diamondbacks, striking out two batters in a perfect eighth inning.

Entering the game with the score tied 2-2, Young fanned Corbin Carroll and Randal Grichuk and was rewarded when the Mets took their first and only lead of the night in the bottom of the frame. Recalled from Triple-A Syracuse earlier in the day Thursday, Young has made only three big-league appearances this season but has collected a win in two of them, and he has yet to allow an earned run in four innings with a 5:3 K:BB. Given the shambles the Mets bullpen is in, the 30-year-old southpaw could see consistent high-leverage work as long as he remains effective.

  • Marlins' Emmanuel Ramirez: Optioned to Triple-A

The Marlins optioned Ramirez to Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday.

Ramirez has allowed just one run with a 5:0 K:BB over 5.2 relief innings during his time with the Marlins this season but nonetheless now finds himself without a roster spot. The Marlins will announce a corresponding move prior to Friday's contest versus the Rangers.

  • Kyle Finnegan RP | DET

Nationals' Kyle Finnegan: Records 15th save

Finnegan picked up the save in a win over Atlanta on Thursday, pitching a scoreless ninth inning while striking out one and issuing a walk.

Finnegan entered the game with a two-run lead in the ninth and issued a leadoff walk to Ozzie Albies to put himself in an early jam. However, the right-handed reliever was able to retire the next three batters in succession to notch his 15th save of the season. Finnegan now has three scoreless appearances since blowing the save against the Phillies on May 18, posting a 5:1 K:BB over that stretch. He currently has six saves this month to go along with a 0.93 ERA.

  • Diamondbacks' Justin Martinez: Works three innings

Martinez allowed three hits and one walk while striking out two over three scoreless innings in Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Mets.

Martinez had never recorded more than six outs in an MLB game, but he gave the Diamondbacks nine outs on a night when starter Zac Gallen (hamstring) was removed after six pitches. The reliever worked around traffic, helped by double plays in the fourth and fifth innings. The right-hander has made 12 consecutive scoreless appearances and given up just one run over 18.2 innings.

  • Raymond Kerr RP | ATL

Braves' Ray Kerr: Surrenders three runs in loss

Kerr (1-2) took the loss against the Nationals on Thursday, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks over 3.2 innings. He struck out seven.

Kerr struck out three of the first four batters he faced, but things began to unravel for the 29-year-old in the top of the third after he hit Jacob Young with a pitch. The lefty would end up surrendering three runs in the frame on two hits and a walk while also plunking another batter. Kerr has allowed at least three runs in each of his first two starts, taking the loss on each occasion. He also hasn't gone more than four innings in any of his outings with Atlanta.

  • Reed Garrett RP | NYM

Mets' Reed Garrett: Nabs save Thursday

Garrett earned a save against the Diamondbacks on Thursday, walking one batter in a perfect inning.

Garrett walked the first batter he faced but managed to retire the next three Arizona hitters to nail down his third save. With Edwin Diaz (shoulder) on the injured list, Garrett appears to be the Mets' top option for ninth-inning work. The right-hander has notched New York's past two saves, though they came 11 days apart.

  • Brett Kennedy RP | CIN

Reds' Brett Kennedy: Outrighted to Triple-A

Kennedy was outrighted to Triple-A Louisville on Thursday.

Kennedy was designated for assignment Tuesday and went unclaimed on waivers. He'll head back to Louisville, where he's posted a 32:8 K:BB across 40.2 innings while working as a starter this season.

  • Elvis Peguero RP | CHW

Brewers' Elvis Peguero: Picks up first save

Peguero earned the save in Thursday's 6-4 win over the Cubs, allowing one hit in a scoreless ninth inning.

With Trevor Megill (elbow) unavailable after he was struck by a line drive Tuesday, Peguero got the call in the ninth inning Thursday. He worked around a Dansby Swanson one-out single to close out a two-run victory, earning his first save of the year. It could be a one-off for Peguero, as Megill is expected to avoid an IL stint and figures to reclaim the closing job until Devin Williams (back) is healthy. Still, the 27-year-old Peguero has been a solid late-inning option for the Brewers this season, pitching to a 2.92 ERA with a 1.58 WHIP and 22:12 K:BB over 24.2 innings.
