Luke Little RP | CHC
Cubs' Luke Little: Heads back to Triple-A
The Cubs returned Little to Triple-A Iowa on Sunday.
As expected, Little's stay with the Cubs lasted just one day, as he had been designated as the club's 27th man for Saturday's doubleheader with the Marlins. He appeared out of the bullpen in the Cubs' 3-2 loss in Game 1 of the twin bill, striking out one while allowing one hit and one walk in a scoreless inning.

Ben Brown SP | CHC
Cubs' Ben Brown: Heads to bullpen
Brown worked in relief in the second game of a doubleheader Saturday in the Cubs' 5-3 win over the Marlins, striking out three over two scoreless innings while allowing two hits and no walks.
Though he gave up just one earned run over 10.2 innings while making his last two appearances as a starter, Brown lost his spot in the rotation after Jameson Taillon (back) made his return from the 15-day injured list Friday. According to Kyle Williams of the Chicago Sun-Times, manager Craig Counsell said after the doubleheader that he expects Brown to "make a lot of starts for us" this season, but the rookie right-hander looks like he'll have to settle for a bullpen role for now despite his early success in the rotation.

Tanner Rainey RP | DET
Nationals' Tanner Rainey: Struggling to regain form
Rainey has averaged 93.6 mph with his fastball so far in 2024, down significantly from the 97.0 mph he averaged over 30 innings in 2022 prior to undergoing Tommy John surgery that August.
In his most recent appearance Saturday, Rainey gave up a hit in a scoreless ninth inning but topped out at 95.1 mph, and he missed out on a decision as the Nationals went on to win in the 10th. The 31-year-old right-hander has been superficially effective since getting tagged for three runs in his first two outings of the year, and he's allowed just one run in his last six innings. His 1.50 ERA over that stretch comes with a 1.83 WHIP and 5:4 K:BB, however. Rainey has yet to record a win, hold or save in 2024, and he might need to regain his lost velocity if he's going to work his way back into a consistent high-leverage role.

Bryan Hoeing RP | SD
Marlins' Bryan Hoeing: Picks up first hold
Hoeing gave up a hit and struck out one in a scoreless sixth inning Sunday to record his first hold of the season in a win over the Cubs.
The 27-year-old right-hander has been one of the few bullpen arms for Miami to have success early in the season, and Hoeing sports a 1.29 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 11:5 K:BB through 14 innings. Sunday's hold was only the second of his career, but he could work his way into more consistent high-leverage spots if he continues to get the job done and the likes of Andrew Nardi (9.31 ERA) and Anthony Bender (8.31 ERA) continue to struggle.

Tanner Scott RP | LAD
Marlins' Tanner Scott: Notches fourth save
Scott struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Sunday to record his fourth save of the season in a win over the Cubs.
The southpaw reined in his control issues for at least one appearance, firing eight of 11 pitches for strikes as he carved up the top of the Cubs' order. Scott's 3.38 ERA through 10.2 innings masks his struggles -- he has a 10:12 K:BB and an 0-3 record, although he's converted four of five save chances. With most of the rest of the Marlins' bullpen also off to shaky starts to the season, Scott is being given every opportunity to turn things around, and as yet a change at closer for Miami doesn't seem to be in the works.

Emilio Pagan RP | CIN
Reds' Emilio Pagan: Posts second win
Pagan (2-1) picked up the win over the Angels on Sunday. He allowed one hit and struck out one over two scoreless innings in a 3-0 victory.
Pagan was part of a huge effort from Cincinnati's bullpen, which fired 8.1 scoreless innings after Frankie Montas was removed when he took a comebacker of his right forearm. Pagan was the pitcher of record when the Reds scored all three runs in the bottom of the sixth. This was his first time pitching in five days, so Pagan was able to extend past his usual one-inning workload while also being efficient (22 pitches).

Brent Suter RP | LAA
Reds' Brent Suter: Picks up injured starter
Suter allowed four hits and one walk while striking out two over 3.1 scoreless relief innings in Sunday's 3-0 win over the Angels.
Suter entered the contest with two outs in the first inning after starter Frankie Montas took a comebacker off his right forearm. Suter's been useful out of the Cincinnati bullpen, having not allowed a run in eight of nine outings. In six of those appearances, he's thrown multiple innings. The left-hander owns a 2.30 ERA and 1.15 WHIP over 15.2 innings.

Robert Suarez RP | ATL
Padres' Robert Suarez: Churns out another save
Suarez picked up his seventh save of the season by pitching a scoreless ninth in the win over the Blue Jays on Sunday. He allowed one hit and struck out a batter.
Suarez entered to protect a three-run lead and did so without breaking much of a sweat. He got through the inning in nine pitches and started things off by striking out Vladimir Guerrero before getting Justin Turner to hit into a game-ending double play. Suarez remains perfect on save chances and now owns a 0.93 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 9:4 K:BB in 9.2 innings.
