Dodgers' Yency Almonte: Lands on IL
The Dodgers placed Almonte on the 15-day injured list Saturday with a right knee sprain, Matthew Moreno of DodgerBlue.com reports.
Almonte was pulled from Friday's contest against the Rockies with a right knee injury, and it will officially cause him to spend at least 15 days on the injured list. The 29-year-old had accumulated a 5.06 ERA and 1.38 WHIP through 48 innings on the season and will be replaced in the bullpen by Victor Gonzalez.

The Dodgers recalled Gonzalez from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday, Matthew Moreno of DodgerBlue.com reports.
Gonzalez was optioned to Triple-A on Thursday, but he will come back up to the majors to replace Yency Almonte (knee) on the active roster. The 27-year-old southpaw holds a 5.32 ERA and 1.27 WHIP through 23.2 innings in the majors this season and will likely be limited to middle relief while in Los Angeles.

Dodgers' Yency Almonte: Injures knee Friday, may head to IL
Almonte departed Friday's game against Colorado due to a right knee injury, and manager Dave Roberts said after the contest that it could be an IL situation, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Almonte had worked 1.2 scoreless innings and was attempting to close out the victory when he got a cleat caught while releasing a pitch. The reliever speculated after the game that he may have hyperextended his right knee, per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic, though an official diagnosis has yet to be announced. Almonte threw two more pitches (both balls) before he was relieved by Ryan Brasier, but Roberts nonetheless suggested that the right-hander may miss multiple weeks, saying, "It wouldn't surprise me if it's an IL [stint]."

Carmen Mlodzinski RP | PIT
Pirates' Carmen Mlodzinski: Lands on IL
The Pirates placed Mlodzinski on the 15-day injured list Saturday with right elbow soreness, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Mlodzinski has been one of the most reliable options out of the bullpen for Pittsburgh this season with a 2.28 ERA and 1.27 WHIP through 23.2 innings. His injury is being described as "minor," so there is a good chance the 24-year-old righty is able to return from the IL after a minimum stay.

Tyler Cyr RP | LAD
Dodgers' Tyler Cyr: Beginning rehab assignment
Cyr (shoulder) began a rehab assignment in the Arizona Complex League on Saturday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.
A right shoulder impingement sent Cyr to the injured list in late May, and he's now set to return to game action after nearly three months. The Dodgers haven't specified how long they plan on keeping Cyr on assignment, but a return before the end of August is possible.

Dylan Lee RP | ATL
Braves' Dylan Lee: Building up to multi-inning role
Lee (shoulder) will be built up to serve as a multi-inning option out of Atlanta's bullpen once he returns from the injured list, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.
Lee was originally slated to return this week, but the transition into a new role could cause him to be out through the end of August. The 29-year-old lefty holds a 3.10 ERA and 1.23 WHIP through 20.1 innings this season and has been out since May with left shoulder inflammation.

Jimmy Yacabonis RP | NYM
Mets' Jimmy Yacabonis: Cast off 40-man
The Mets designated Yacabonis for assignment Saturday, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports.
A week after being selected to the Mets' active roster, Yacabonis will once again lose his spot on the 40-man and pass through waivers in order to clear room for Denyi Reyes. Yacabonis allowed one run over 4.2 innings during his last stint in the majors.

Denyi Reyes RP | NYM
Mets' Denyi Reyes: Joins roster for spot start
The Mets selected Reyes' contract from Triple-A Syracuse to start the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against Atlanta.
Reyes owns a 6.14 RA in six appearances for the Mets this season. Only one of those appearances was a start, and it came under nearly identical circumstances, as it was the first game of another doubleheader against Atlanta back in May. Reyes lasted just one inning in that contest, giving up five earned runs.

Reed Garrett RP | NYM
Mets' Reed Garrett: Up as extra man
Garrett will serve as the 27th man for Saturday's doubleheader against Atlanta, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Garrett will give the Mets added bullpen depth in both games. In 32 career major-league innings, the 30-year-old owns a 7.88 ERA and 2.28 WHIP, walking more batters (25) than he's struck out (20).

Javier Assad RP | CHC
Cubs' Javier Assad: Sharp in second win
Assad (2-2) picked up the win Friday, allowing one run on four hits and one walk over seven innings in a 6-2 victory over the Blue Jays. He struck out two.
The right-hander delivered his second big-league quality start in the longest outing of his career, tossing 58 of 90 pitches for strikes as he pitched to contact after the Cubs staked him to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Assad could return to the bullpen if Marcus Stroman (hip) is able to come off the IL and rejoin the rotation when first eligible Aug. 16, but the 26-year-old has been effective in any role. Through 60.2 innings this season, Assad has a 3.12 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 45:26 K:BB.
