    Blue Jays' Easton Lucas: Recalled from Triple-A

    The Blue Jays recalled Lucas from Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday.

    Lucas was claimed off waivers last month and will be making his Blue Jays debut when/if he gets into a game. The lefty reliever holds a 9.22 ERA and 15:9 K:BB over 13.2 innings from 2023-24 during his brief time at the major-league level.

    Blue Jays' Zach Pop: Optioned to minors

    The Blue Jays optioned Pop to their spring training complex on Tuesday.

    He's being sent to the team's spring training facility because Triple-A Buffalo's season is over. Pop will be replaced on the roster and in the bullpen by Easton Lucas.

  • Cubs' Gavin Hollowell: Sent back down

    The Cubs optioned Hollowell to Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

    He was just called up Monday but will be sent back down to make room for waiver claim Enoli Paredes, who has officially joined the active roster. Hollowell had a 1.1-inning scoreless relief appearance during his lone day with the big club.

    Astros' Tayler Scott: Plays catch Tuesday

    Scott (back) played catch in the outfield at Minute Maid Park on Tuesday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

    Scott just landed on the 15-day injured list over the weekend with a thoracic spine strain, so it's a good sign that he's already throwing again. He will not be eligible to return before the end of the regular season, but the Astros are hoping to have him available as an option at some point during the playoffs.

    Reds' Carson Spiers: Drawing start Tuesday

    Spiers will start Tuesday's game in Cleveland.

    Spiers is taking the rotation spot created by Julian Aguiar's (shoulder) placement on the injured list. Jakob Junis, had initially been scheduled to start Tuesday, but he'll instead be pushed back to Wednesday while he tends to a personal matter. The right-handed Spiers holds a 5.40 ERA over 21 appearances (nine starts) for the Reds this season.

    Reds' Jakob Junis: Start pushed back to Wednesday

    Junis has been scratched from Tuesday's start versus the Guardians due to personal reasons and will start Wednesday's series finale in Cleveland instead, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

    Carson Spiers is now scheduled to start Tuesday, with Junis getting an extra day in between starts. Junis has been terrific over the last month for the Reds, allowing just three runs with an 18:1 K:BB over 23.2 innings covering four starts and one relief appearance.

    Reds' Ian Gibaut: Back from injured list

    The Reds reinstated Gibaut (forearm) from the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

    The right-hander hasn't seen a big-league mound this season while coming back from forearm surgery, but he'll join the Reds for the final week of the campaign. Gibaut allowed five earned runs over 3.2 frames in four rehab outings with Triple-A Louisville and should fill a low-leverage relief role.

    Reds' Carson Spiers: Expected to move into rotation

    Spiers is likely to enter the Reds' rotation in place of the injured Julian Aguiar (shoulder), Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

    Aguiar had been slated to make his final start of the season Wednesday in Cleveland, but that assignment should fall to Spiers, who will be on seven days' rest after throwing 46 pitches over three relief innings last week against Atlanta. It will be Spiers' first start since Aug. 20, when he allowed 10 runs (nine earned) across 4.1 frames in Toronto.

    Astros' Shawn Dubin: Rejoins bullpen

    The Astros recalled Dubin from Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

    Dubin has posted a 4.15 ERA and 45:26 K:BB over 43.1 frames with the Astros this season. The 29-year-old right-hander will give the club a fresh bullpen arm.

    Astros' Seth Martinez: Sent back to minors

    The Astros optioned Martinez to Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

    Martinez had pitched two of the last three days, including Monday, and allowed four runs over 2.1 innings. He'll be replaced on the roster by fellow reliever Shawn Dubin.
