Estevez gave up a hit in a scoreless ninth inning Wednesday to record his 25th save of the season in a 3-2 win over the Rays.

The right-hander bounced back from a blown save Monday, firing seven of 10 pitches for strikes to set down the bottom of Tampa Bay's order. Estevez has blown two of seven save chances since joining the Phillies at the trade deadline, but over 17.2 innings for his new squad he's posted a stellar 2.04 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 16:4 K:BB. He's the primary ninth-inning option for Rob Thomson, although the team's deep bullpen gives the manager plenty of alternatives against specific matchups, or when Estevez needs a breather.

Bednar allowed one unearned run on two hits while striking out two across two-thirds of an inning Wednesday against the Marlins.

Bednar started the ninth inning with a 3-0 lead. He had an inconsistent performance as he allowed a leadoff double and an RBI single, but he struck out two and would have stranded the runner successfully had there not been an error behind him. Bednar hasn't recorded a save since Aug. 23 and has since been removed from the closer role, though it appears the Pirates may be willing to give him more save chances before the close of the season.

The Phillies outrighted Nelson to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Wednesday.

Nelson was previously outrighted off the 40-man roster last month, so he could elect free agency if he wants. He could otherwise stick around the organization as relief depth.

The Guardians outrighted Gose to Triple-A Columbus on Thursday.

Gose has now been removed from the Guardians' 40-man roster and subsequently cleared waivers four times in just over a month. The left-handed reliever has allowed five runs over 4.1 innings covering three appearances during his time with the Guardians this season.

Munoz picked up the save over the Padres on Wednesday, striking out two over a perfect ninth inning.

Munoz took the mound in the top of the ninth with a three-run lead and managed to retire the side in order on 14 pitches to secure his 20th save of the campaign. It was a solid outing for the reliever after having allowed a home run in each of his last two appearances, while the save was his first since Aug. 25 against the Giants. Munoz has now posted two or more strikeouts in five of his last six appearances and hasn't issued a free pass in three of his last four.

Akin (3-1) allowed three runs (one earned) on one hit and struck out one over one-third of an inning to take the extra-inning loss and a blown save Wednesday versus the Red Sox.

Akin gave up a walk-off three-run home run to Tyler O'Neill in the 10th inning. Over his previous nine appearances, Akin had yielded just one run over 10.1 innings while posting a 16:1 K:BB. He's generally had success in a low-leverage role this year, posting a 3.44 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 87:17 K:BB while picking up five holds and three blown saves in 59 appearances.

Bubic (0-1) took the extra-innings loss and a blown save versus the Yankees on Wednesday, allowing two unearned runs on one hit and one walk over 1.1 innings.

Bubic gave up a game-tying sacrifice fly in the 10th inning and then surrendered a walk-off single to Jazz Chisholm in the 11th. The initial runner scored both times, so this outing won't hurt Bubic's ERA, which stands at 3.42 on the year. He's added a 1.14 WHIP and 29:4 K:BB through 23.2 innings, and his impressive control has earned him the opportunity to pitch in high-leverage situations recently. He's added six holds this year, though he also has three blown saves.

Sandlin (8-0) allowed a hit and a walk while striking out two over 1.1 scoreless innings to earn the win over the White Sox on Wednesday.

The Guardians never trailed in the contest, but starter Matthew Boyd needed 95 pitches to get through 4.1 innings. Sandlin took over in the fifth and secured his first win since Aug. 12. Over his last 12 appearances, Sandlin has given up four runs across 10.1 innings with a 12:7 K:BB. He's now at a 3.78 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 63:25 K:BB while adding a save and eight holds over 52.1 innings as a middle reliever this year.

Miller pitched a perfect inning to earn the save in a 5-4 win over the Astros on Wednesday.

Miller retired the side on nine pitches (seven strikes) to earn his first save since Aug. 28. He's seen little usage in September, pitching four times while allowing five runs (three earned) over 5.2 innings in that span. He's had a couple of bumps in the road this year but has maintained a 2.34 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 91:19 K:BB over 57.2 innings while converting 24 of 26 save chances.

Romero (7-2) struck out one and didn't allow a baserunner over two-thirds of an inning to earn the win Wednesday over the Reds.

Romero got the last two outs in the top of the eighth inning, and the Cardinals pulled ahead in their half of the frame. The setup man has two wins and a blown save over five appearances (3.2 innings) in September. Romero has posted a 2.72 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 51:14 K:BB through 56.1 innings this season, and he's added 30 holds and eight blown saves while seeing steady high-leverage work.
