Evan Justice RP | COL
Rockies' Evan Justice: Promoted to majors
The Rockies recalled Justice from Triple-A Albuquerque ahead of Sunday's 6-1 loss to the Orioles. He faced two batters in relief, striking out one and walking the other.
Justice's brief relief appearance was his first in the big leagues in 2024, as he had been added to the 40-man roster last August but hadn't received a call-up from Triple-A this season after being optioned to the minors coming out of spring training. The lefty reliever submitted a 9.90 ERA, 2.50 WHIP and 21:29 K:BB in 20 innings at Albuquerque this season, but he had given up just one earned run in his last seven outings prior to getting called up.

Dillon Tate RP | TOR
Blue Jays' Dillon Tate: Scooped up by Toronto
The Blue Jays claimed Tate off waivers from the Orioles and optioned him to Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday.
Toronto designated right-hander Paolo Espino for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster for Tate, who had made 186 relief appearances for the Orioles over parts of five of the last six seasons. He had been a trusted setup option for Baltimore from 2020 through 2022, but after spending the entire 2023 campaign on the injured list while recovering from a flexor strain, Tate has struggled to bounce back in 2024. He turned in a 4.59 ERA and 1.41 WHIP in 33.1 innings with the Orioles before being designated for assignment last week.

Edwin Diaz RP | LAD
Mets' Edwin Diaz: Picks up save Sunday
Diaz earned the save in Sunday's 2-0 win over the White Sox, striking out the side in a perfect ninth inning.
Diaz picked up his second save in his last three appearances. In those outings, he's racked up seven strikeouts while not allowing a run. Diaz also has at least one strikeout in 18 of his last 19 appearances. For the year, he's compiled 16 saves to compliment a 3.98 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 61:15 K:BB in 40.2 innings.

Orlando Ribalta RP | WAS
Nationals' Orlando Ribalta: Optioned to Triple-A
The Nationals optioned Ribalta to Triple-A Rochester on Sunday.
Four days after being recalled from Triple-A, Ribalta will now head back to the minors after giving up two earned runs on four hits and a walk over one-third of an inning during Sunday's loss to the Cubs. While the 26-year-old has yet to find his footing in the big leagues, he's been effective at Rochester with a 3.64 ERA and 1.27 WHIP across 29.2 frames.

Jacob Webb RP | CHC
Orioles' Jacob Webb: Cleared for rehab assignment
Webb (elbow) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Webb, who has been on the 15-day injured list since Aug. 7 with right elbow inflammation, will likely require at least another rehab appearance after Sunday before the Orioles would feel comfortable activating him. The right-hander has been a key late-inning arm for Baltimore in 2024, notching one win, two saves and 12 holds while compiling a 3.08 ERA and 1.17 WHIP over 49.2 frames.
-
Tristan Beck RP | SF
Giants' Tristan Beck: Makes return from 60-day IL
The Giants reinstated Beck (arm) from the 60-day injured list Sunday.
Beck will join the big club for the first time all season after completing his recovery from surgery to address an upper right arm aneurysm, which cropped up during spring training. The right-hander got stretched out to 56 pitches and three innings over his five minor-league rehab outings, so he be an option for the rotation if the Giants elect to expand to six men at some point in September. For the time being, however, Beck will likely serve as a multi-inning reliever.
-
Darren McCaughan RP | CIN
Marlins' Darren McCaughan: Called up, will start Sunday
The Marlins recalled McCaughan from Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday. He'll start in the Marlins' series finale in San Francisco against the Giants.
McCaughan will take over the rotation spot that previously belonged to Roddery Munoz, who was optioned to Jacksonville on Wednesday. The 28-year-old right-hander has previously made five appearances at the big-league level this season between Cleveland and Miami, logging an 8.62 ERA and 2.11 WHIP over 15.2 innings. He performed much better over his 11 starts with Jacksonville (4.53 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 59:18 K:BB in 53.2 innings), but McCaughan doesn't make for a reliable streaming option in the majority of fantasy leagues.
-
Forrest Whitley RP | TB
Astros' Forrest Whitley: Up with big club
The Astros recalled Whitley from Triple-A Sugar Land on Sunday.
Whitley will receive his first look in the majors since mid-April, when he allowed a hit and a walk in a scoreless two-thirds of an inning during his MLB debut. The right-hander has been an effective bullpen piece at Sugar Land this season with a 2.17 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 40:9 K:BB across 29 innings.
-
Tom Cosgrove RP | WAS
Padres' Tom Cosgrove: Moves up from Triple-A
The Padres recalled Cosgrove from Triple-A El Paso on Sunday.
Cosgrove will likely operate as a low-leverage reliever for the Padres as he returns to the big leagues for the third time this season. Over his previous two stints with the big club, Cosgrove gave up 19 earned runs on 23 hits and six walks over 14.2 innings.

Stephen Kolek SP | KC
Padres' Stephen Kolek: Shifts to 60-day IL
The Padres transferred Kolek (forearm) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Sunday.
The right-hander landed on the shelf in late July due to forearm tendinitis, and he now won't be eligible to be reinstated until after the regular season. Kolek recently resumed playing catch but has yet to throw off a mound, so he still has significant work to do in his rehab program.
