Ferguson (6-3) earned the win over the Diamondbacks on Wednesday with a perfect inning in relief.

The game was scoreless through six frames, but Dodgers starter Bobby Miller opened the seventh by allowing the first two batters he faced to reach base. Ferguson took over and quickly stamped out the threat, making a nifty diving catch on an attempted sacrifice bunt and doubling the runner off second. He then retired Corbin Carroll to end the inning, and Ferguson took the win as a result of Los Angeles scoring two runs in the bottom of the frame. The southpaw has been a key piece of the team's bullpen this season, collecting six wins, 14 holds and two saves while posting a 2.91 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 52:20 K:BB over 43.1 innings.

Kranick (elbow) is on track to begin a rehab assignment early next week with Low-A Bradenton, Justice delos Santos of MLB.com reports.

Kranick is over 14 months removed from Tommy John surgery and should be an option for Pittsburgh's pitching staff around the beginning of September if all goes well on the farm. It's not yet clear whether the Pirates plan to bring him back as a starter or reliever. They could use help in either area of the depth chart.

Krehbiel was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday.

He was just sent down Wednesday but returns a day later to replace the injured Danny Coulombe (biceps). Krehbiel has made two scoreless appearances in the big leagues this season.

Coulombe was placed on the 15-day injured list Thursday with left biceps tendinitis.

It's a blow to the Orioles' bullpen, as Coulombe has been excellent with a 2.77 ERA and 48:9 K:BB over 39 innings. The hope is that he'll be ready to go when his 15 days are up, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.Joey Krehbiel will take Coulombe's roster spot.

Jansen gave up a solo home run while walking one and striking out one in the ninth inning Wednesday to record his 25th save of the season in a 4-3 win over the Royals.

Freddy Fermin's one-out blast over the Green Monster made things nervous for Boston, but Jansen got a break after walking Edward Olivares when pinch runner Dairon Blanco got caught stealing second. It's Jansen's 16th straight successful save conversion, with his last blown save coming May 13, and he's now reached 25 for the 11th straight full season, not counting the 2020 pandemic campaign. With 416 saves for his career, Jansen is six behind Billy Wagner for sixth place on the all-time list, and eight behind John Franco for a spot in the top five.

Treinen (shoulder) threw a one-inning simulated game Wednesday at the Dodgers' spring training complex in Arizona, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Treinen had touched only 86-87 mph during recent bullpen session, but he hit 94 mph during Wednesday's session after making some delivery tweaks. "Blake was 100th percentile," manager Dave Roberts said. "It was a lot more than we anticipated." Treinen has multiple hoops he still needs to jump through as he works his way back from last November's shoulder surgery, but he and the club are hopeful that he can rejoin the bullpen sometime in September.

Cisnero picked up the save Wednesday against Minnesota, allowing a hit and logging a strikeout over one-third of an inning.

Cisnero recorded the final out in relief of Trey Wingenter in the ninth inning, striking out Carlos Correa to strand the bases loaded and preserve a 9-5 win. The 34-year-old Cisnero had struggled to a 7.04 ERA over his prior seven outings (7.2 innings). He now sports a 3.89 ERA with a 1.30 WHIP and 54:16 K:BB across 44 innings this season. While Cisnero is one of the more experienced arms in Detroit's pen, he's still likely behind Alex Lange and Jason Foley in the closing hierarchy.

Pivetta (8-6) picked up the win in Wednesday's 4-3 victory over the Royals, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out eight.

MJ Melendez touched him up for a pair of solo shots, but otherwise Pivetta kept Kansas City in check as he made his 10th start of the season rather than working in a bulk role behind an opener. The right-hander has served up five homers over his last three appearances, but he still sports a sparkling 2.54 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 39:7 K:BB through 28.1 frames since the All-Star break. If he stays on schedule, his next outing lines up for a road trip early next week against the Nationals.

Iglesias gave up two hits and struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning Wednesday to record his 22nd save of the season in a 6-5 win over the Pirates.

The right-hander converted his 13th straight save chance as he continues to provide Atlanta with plenty of stability at the back of the bullpen. Iglesias has pitched three straight days, and A.J. Minter threw 15 pitches Wednesday in the eighth, so look for Kirby Yates or Joe Jimenez to handle the ninth in the series finale Thursday if there's a late lead to protect.

Pruitt did not factor into the decision Wednesday, allowing one walk over two scoreless innings in a 2-0 victory over the Rangers. He struck out two.

Pruitt did not allow a hit over his two innings of work, though the Rangers made him work for it, forcing 34 pitches and drawing one walk off the right-hander. He also managed to record two strikeouts for the second time in his last four appearances, and he has not allowed a run over his last nine outings (spanning 10.1 innings), posting a 9:3 K:BB over that stretch.
