Santos was activated from the bereavement list Tuesday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

He had been away from the club since Saturday. Santos is in the mix for saves and is perhaps even the favorite to serve as the closer in the White Sox' makeshift bullpen.

Hatch will join the Pirates on Tuesday, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Hatch was designated for assignment by the Blue Jays last Friday and claimed off waivers by Pittsburgh on Sunday. The 28-year-old right-hander holds a career 5.40 ERA and 45:26 K:BB in 46.2 major-league innings.

Selby will be recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Selby is joining the big club for the first time after he pitched to a 3.86 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 41:22 K:BB through 30.1 innings this season out of the Triple-A bullpen. The 25-year-old right-hander will likely fill a middle-relief role with Pittsburgh.

Alexander will serve as the Giants' opening pitcher Tuesday versus the Angels, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Alex Wood is expected to follow him and handle the majority of the innings. This will be the fifth opener assignment of the year for Alexander, who has registered an overall 3.21 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 18:7 K:BB across 33.2 innings (39 appearances) this season with San Francisco.

Clase (suspension) was reinstated from the restricted list Tuesday.

Clase will be available out of the bullpen for Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays after sitting out Monday's series opener while he served a one-game suspension for his role in an on-field brawl with the White Sox that occurred Saturday. The Blue Jays opened the scoring Monday with a two-run eighth inning and maintained their lead the rest of the way in a 3-1 win, so Clase didn't miss out on a save chance while he served the suspension.

Peguero tossed a scoreless eighth inning in Monday's 12-1 victory over the Rockies.

Peguero was preparing to enter the game with the Brewers ahead by only four runs, so don't let the fact that he worked in a blowout lead you to believe he is no longer part of Milwaukee's late-inning mix. Peguero gave up three earned runs twice in late July, but he seems to have righted the ship, allowing just one runner to reach base through three outings in August. He remains the top right-handed option in front of setup man Joel Payamps and closer Devin Williams.

Chapman walked one and struck out three over a scoreless eighth inning to record a hold in Monday's 5-3 win over the Athletics.

Chapman recorded a fourth straight hold, all which have come with him pitching the eighth inning. Texas manager Bruce Bochy has settled on a late-game pattern, where Josh Sborz works the seventh, Chapman the eighth, and Will Smith closes in the ninth. That's been the formula for four victories during the Rangers' seven-game winning streak. Chapman's been brilliant since being acquired from Kansas City in late June, posting a 23:3 K:BB over 12 innings. The lone blemish was a blown save July 24 against division rival Houston.

Shaw earned a save against the Yankees on Monday, allowing one hit and striking out four batters over two scoreless innings.

Shaw entered in the top of the eighth inning with Chicago up 2-1, and he dominated by striking out the side on 13 pitches. The White Sox scored three times in the bottom of the frame, so manager Pedro Grifol elected to allow the right-hander the opportunity to close things out. Shaw did so without much trouble, allowing a leadoff double to Aaron Judge in the ninth but retiring the next three batters. It was the veteran reliever's first save of the campaign and 16th of his career, but he doesn't figure to get many more chances moving forward despite an unsettled closer situation since Liam Hendriks was lost for the season with an elbow injury and Kendall Graveman and Reynaldo Lopez were both traded at the deadline.

De Los Santos (4-2) allowed two runs on two hits in one inning to take the loss Monday versus the Blue Jays.

Starter Gavin Williams pitched seven innings of one-hit ball, but De Los Santos couldn't keep the momentum in Cleveland's favor, allowing a two-run home run to Cavan Biggio in the eighth. The homer ended a 10-inning scoreless streak for De Los Santos, who had a 9:3 K:BB with four holds in that span. The right-hander has emerged as a solid setup man for the Guardians with a 2.61 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 42:18 K:BB over 48.1 innings while adding 11 holds this season. He slots in behind Emmanuel Clase and Trevor Stephan in the Guardians' late-inning mix.

Hicks earned a save against Cleveland on Monday, allowing one hit and one walk in one scoreless inning.

Hicks got the call from the bullpen with the Blue Jays up 3-1 in the ninth frame. The right-hander quickly found himself in trouble after hitting the first batter he faced and then yielding a single to Jose Ramirez. However, Hicks was able to retire the next two hitters, and after loading the bases by walking Gabriel Arias, he got Brayan Rocchio to ground out to escape the jam. It wasn't a smooth conversion by any means, but Hicks has been successful in both his save chances since joining Toronto and may get another opportunity or two before Jordan Romano (back) returns to reclaim the ninth-inning job.
