Brash, who picked up his fifth win Tuesday against the Twins with a scoreless eighth inning during which he issued a walk and struck out three, has a 2.35 ERA, 0.78 WHIP, 14:4 K:BB and six holds across the 7.2 innings covering his eight appearances in July.

The one-time starter has been in a groove as a reliever for most of the season, and July has been a particularly good month. Brash has generated scoreless efforts in seven of those eight appearances this month, and he's gotten a better handle on his control issues overall by lowering his BB/9 from his rookie 5.9 figure to a more palatable 3.9 in 41.1 frames this season.

The Mariners acquired Thornton from the Blue Jays on Wednesday in exchange for Mason McCoy, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Thornton had been designated for assignment last week and now lands in another organization. The right-hander has posted a 4.77 ERA over 108 appearances -- 35 starts -- at the major-league level covering parts of five seasons. Thornton has pitched almost exclusively as a reliever since 2021.

Mata (shoulder) posted a video Wednesday on his personal Twitter account featuring him throwing a bullpen session.

Mata hasn't pitched for Triple-A Worcester since May 9 after he was shut down due to right shoulder inflammation, and reports have been scarce over the ensuing two months regarding where exactly he stood in his recovery. The video he provided Wednesday provides some more clarity, though it's unclear when Mata might be ready for game action at Worcester. He posted a 5.61 ERA, 2.10 WHIP and 26:27 K:BB in 25.2 innings prior to landing on the 7-day injured list.

Rodriguez cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Atlanta jettisoned Rodriguez from their 40-man roster Monday, but he will stay in the organization. The right-hander has started and relieved during his time with Gwinnett in 2023.

Luetge cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

He's no longer on Atlanta's 40-man roster but it appears Luetge will remain in the organization. The southpaw holds an 8.49 ERA over 11 relief appearances in the big leagues this season.

Miller was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday.

The Dodgers acquired Miller from the Brewers earlier this month, but he'll be up with the big club for the first time since the trade. He tossed three scoreless innings during his time with Oklahoma City.

The Dodgers optioned Bruihl to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday.

Bruihl gets the boot after getting roughed up for three runs over an inning of relief in Tuesday's comeback win over the Blue Jays. Tyson Miller was called up from Oklahoma City to take Bruihl's spot in the bullpen.

Walker will serve as the Giants' opening pitcher in Wednesday's game versus the Athletics, Danny Emerman of KNBR 680 San Francisco reports.

It's Alex Wood's turn in the rotation, but the lefty looks set to serve as a bulk reliever. Walker will be working as an opener for the sixth time this season after allowing four earned runs in 6.2 innings across the previous five outings.

Cano (1-2) allowed two runs on four hits and struck out one over two-thirds of an inning, taking the loss and a blown save in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Phillies.

Felix Bautista recently pitched four times in five days, which may explain why he was given a second consecutive day off in favor of Cano. Over his last 12 appearances, Cano has started to falter, allowing six runs and 16 hits over 11.1 innings. This was his second loss and third blown save in that span. His recent struggles may be regression to the mean after a stellar first half of the season, which has helped him keep his season ratios at a 1.82 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 43:6 K:BB through 49.1 innings. Cano has added four saves and 24 holds in a setup role.

Thielbar (oblique) will make a final rehab appearance for Triple-A St. Paul this weekend before rejoining the Twins early next week in St. Louis, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

The Twins have been without their key left-hander for nearly three months due to a nagging oblique issue. Thielbar has had one scoreless rehab outing for St. Paul and will have a final tune-up this weekend before being activated.
