Suarez (elbow) shifted his rehab assignment to Triple-A El Paso on Saturday and allowed one run on one hit and one walk while failing to strike out a batter in his lone inning of work.

Suarez, who has been on the shelf all season while recovering from an elbow injury, was making his fifth rehab appearance overall but his first at El Paso after prior stints in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League and with Single-A Lake Elsinore. According to 97.3 The Fan San Diego, Padres manager Bob Melvin said Sunday that Suarez checked out "OK" following the rehab outing at El Paso, but the skipper noted that the reliever will "probably" require one more appearance in the minors before being activated from the 60-day injured list. Once he's reinstated, Suarez will likely settle in as a key setup man in front of closer Josh Hader.

Tarnok (0-1) worked out of the bullpen and was the pitcher of record in Saturday's 10-7 loss to the Twins after allowing two earned runs on two hits and three walks over 2.2 innings. He struck out two.

Making his Athletics debut, Tarnok was entrusted with preserving a 7-7 tie when he entered with one out in the sixth inning, but he eventually stumbled by allowing a two-out solo home run to Kyle Farmer in the following frame. A two-out bases-loaded walk issued to Byron Buxton in the eighth inning then accounted for the second run on Tarnok's ledger, saddling him with the loss. Due to his poor control, Tarnok needed 63 pitches just to record his seven outs, but the hefty workload seemingly dispelled any doubts about the strength of his previously strained shoulder. The 24-year-old could be in line for more long-relief assignments in the immediate future, but his experience as a starter at the minor-league level also makes him a rotation option should the Athletics look to move on from Hogan Harris, Ken Waldichuk or Luis Medina.

Baumann (6-0) allowed a hit and a walk while striking out one over 1.2 scoreless innings to earn the win Saturday over the Marlins.

Baumann induced a double play in the sixth inning to get out of a two-on, one-out situation, then worked around a two-out triple in the seventh before the Orioles took the lead. Since the start of June, Baumann has a 3.29 ERA despite a 13:13 K:BB, and he's added four holds and two wins over 13.2 innings in that span. His 3.92 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 46:26 K:BB for the season don't inspire a ton of confidence in his long-term success, but he's been effective enough in a lower-leverage role this season.

Hernandez (0-5) took the loss in Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader versus the Rays, allowing a run on two hits while striking out one in one inning.

The Rays took the lead on a Luke Raley RBI single in the eighth inning, sticking Hernandez with his first decision since June 12. After some troubles in early June, the right-hander has settled down, allowing three runs (two earned) over his last 13.1 innings. He's at a 3.94 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 52:12 K:BB with five holds through 45.2 innings this season. Hernandez could be an option to take over the closer role if the Royals trade Scott Barlow before the deadline, though save chances on a last-place team are likely to remain sparse.

Hoeing gave up two earned runs on two hits while striking out one over 1.2 innings out of the bullpen in Friday's 5-2 loss to the Orioles.

After making his final four appearances before the All-Star break as a starter, Hoeing looks like he'll settle back into a relief role to open the Marlins' second-half schedule. The Marlins have three off days coming up over the next two weeks and are also likely to get Edward Cabrera (shoulder) back from the injured list at some point during the stretch, lessening the need for Miami to keep Hoeing in the fold as its No. 5 starter.

Rogers (5-3) allowed a hit and a walk while striking out one over a scoreless inning to earn the win Saturday over the Pirates.

Rogers became the pitcher of record when the Giants took the lead in the top of the eighth inning. This was a good bounce-back for the left-hander to begin the second half after he allowed two runs in his last outing before the All-Star break. He's mostly been a reliable option for the Giants with a 3.19 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 39:16 K:BB with a save and four holds over 31 innings.

Weathers was optioned to Triple-A El Paso following the second game of Saturday's doubleheader.

Weathers was designated as the 27th man for Saturday's twin bill, so this was always the expectation. The lefty struggled against the Phillies in the nightcap, allowing four runs on six hits -- including two home runs -- over 4.2 innings to take the loss. Overall he has a 6.25 ERA and 1.61 WHIP over 44.2 innings in the majors this season. Despite those struggles, he could get additional spot starts down stretch.

Morejon (knee) was placed on the 15-day injured list Sunday.

The left-hander reportedly suffered a right knee strain in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader. Morejon will undergo imaging to determine the full extent of the injury. Right-hander Matt Waldron was recalled to take Morejon's place on the active roster.

Kelly (elbow) threw a bullpen session Sunday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Kelly has been on the shelf since July 6 with right elbow inflammation, and he projects to return from the injured list when first eligible Thursday. The 35-year-old reliever holds a 4.82 ERA and 1.25 WHIP through 28 innings this season alongside 10 holds and six blown saves.

Loaisiga (elbow) is close to throwing a live bullpen session, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Loaisiga underwent surgery to remove a bone spur from his right elbow in early May and was subsequently moved to the 60-day IL. The righty reliever began a throwing program in mid-June and recently progressed to mound work. Throwing to live hitters will represent another step forward in Loaisiga's recovery, and a minor-league rehab stint may follow soon thereafter. There is a possibility that Loaisiga could return to the big-league bullpen before the end of July.
