  • Dylan Covey RP | ATL

Phillies' Dylan Covey: Primed to be primary pitcher

Covey is set to be the primary pitcher in Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Covey was claimed off waivers by the Phillies on Saturday, and he is on track to make his appearance with his new club a few days later, as Matt Stahm will open Tuesday's contest with Covey slated to follow him. Covey tossed 63 pitches in a game with the Dodgers last week and at least 72 pitches in all seven minor-league games he appeared in earlier this season, so there should not be a major limitation on his workload.

  • Matt Strahm RP | KC

Phillies' Matt Strahm: Will work as opener Tuesday

Strahm will work as an opener in Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Strahm has been used in a variety of roles of late, and he will work in another one Tuesday, as he has not opened a game on the mound since being removed from the rotation earlier this month. Dylan Covey is expected to enter the game right after Strahm, who has not thrown more than 40 pitches in an outing since being sent to the bullpen.

  • Wyatt Mills RP | WAS

Red Sox's Wyatt Mills: Nearing rehab assignment

Mills (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment later this week or next week, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.

Mills opened the season on the injured list with an elbow issue he picked up during spring training, but he is nearing the end of his recovery and is on the verge of advancing to the final step in the process. Barring any setbacks, he should be ready to pitch for the Red Sox at some point in June.

  • Penn Murfee RP | CHW

Mariners' Penn Murfee: Could return in early June

Murfee (elbow) is expected to rejoin the Mariners in early June, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Murfee landed on the injured list earlier this month with elbow inflammation, but he received a PRP injection "a week ago and is feeling better." He should begin a rehab assignment soon, and if all goes well he could be back with the big club at some point during Seattle's road trip that stretches from June 1-11.

  • Andres Munoz RP | SEA

Mariners' Andres Munoz: Targeting early June return

Munoz (shoulder) could rejoin the Mariners in early June, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

GM Justin Hollander spoke about Munoz's status Monday, and he noted that after the pitcher threw a light bullpen session earlier in the day, he "told the medical staff this is the best he's felt since spring." Munoz will likely head out on a rehab assignment shortly, and if all goes well, he could rejoin the Mariners during the team's upcoming road trip that stretches from June 1-11.

  • Tommy Nance RP | MIN

Marlins' Tommy Nance: Still feeling soreness

Nance is still feeling soreness in his injured shoulder and has been recalled from his rehab assignment, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Nance began a rehab assignment 10 days ago, but he has not pitched since and seemingly has not put his injury behind him. He will undergo an evaluation to determine what the next step will be in his recovery.

  • Tayler Scott RP | ATL

Dodgers' Tayler Scott: Added to roster

The Dodgers selected Scott's contract from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Monday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

Scott had posted a 1.08 ERA and 20:10 K:BB over 16.2 innings with Oklahoma City. He'll give the Dodgers a fresh arm in the bullpen.

  • Wander Suero RP | ATH

Dodgers' Wander Suero: Designated for assignment

Suero was designated for assignment by the Dodgers on Monday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

Suero was roughed up for three runs in a two-inning appearance Sunday, so the Dodgers will replace him with a fresh arm. He'll now go through the waiver process.

  • Red Sox's Brennan Bernardino: Summoned to majors

Bernardino was recalled from Triple-A Worcester by the Red Sox on Monday, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

Bernardino holds a 3.65 ERA over 11 relief appearances with the big club this season. He'll give Boston a lefty in the bullpen while Richard Bleier (shoulder) is out.

  • Dinelson Lamet RP | LAD

Rockies' Dinelson Lamet: Being considered for rotation

Lamet (back) could be used as a starter when he returns from the injured list, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Lamet hasn't started a major-league game since 2021 and hasn't been a full-time starter since 2020. He seems ill-suited for the role at this point, but the Rockies' rotation has been hit hard by injuries so it appears they might be willing to give it a shot. Lamet has made two rehab starts with Triple-A Albuquerque but figures to require multiple more to get stretched out if Colorado does indeed bring him back as a starter.
