Cimber (back) threw in the outfield before Friday's game against Seattle, Mike Wilner of the Toronto Star reports.
This is the first time Cimber has thrown since landing on the injured list with an upper-back strain. There is still no official return date in place for the 32-year-old reliever, but Blue Jays manager John Schneider previously expressed optimism that Cimber wouldn't have an extended stay on the IL.

White Sox's Bryan Shaw: Back with Chicago on minors deal
Shaw signed a minor-league contract Friday with the White Sox, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.
Shaw was released by the team in late March after failing to claim a spot on the Opening Day roster, but he'll get another shot with the organization after going unsigned for a full month. The veteran reliever will first head to the club's spring training complex in Arizona before eventually joining up with Triple-A Charlotte.

Nance (shoulder) is scheduled to throw a 35-pitch bullpen session Saturday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Zack Burdi RP | LAD
Rays' Zack Burdi: Optioned to Triple-A
Burdi was optioned to Triple-A Durham by the Rays on Friday, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.
Burdi threw a total of three innings over two appearances the last two days and didn't allow a run. Unfortunately, it also meant he probably wouldn't be available for at least a day or two and that might have cost him a roster spot. Burdi figures to be back in the majors down the road when the Rays need bullpen reinforcements again.

Tony Santillan RP | CIN
Reds' Tony Santillan: Transferred to 60-day IL
Santillan (back) was transferred to the 60-day injured list by the Reds on Friday.
The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Matt Reynolds. Santillan was on a rehab assignment from a back injury earlier this month when he suffered a knee injury. It's not clear how long he'll be out, but he's now not eligible for activation for another month.
