    Blue Jays' Ryan Burr: Having season-ending surgery

    Burr will undergo a season-ending shoulder capsule operation, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

    Burr suffered a strained right rotator cuff July 9 and was immediately placed on the 60-day injured list. The 31-year-old right-hander will miss the remainder of the 2025 campaign after undergoing a corrective procedure on the injured shoulder. It's unclear if the injury will linger into the 2026 campaign.

    Blue Jays' Yimi Garcia: Shut down with elbow issue

    Garcia (ankle) experienced ulnar nerve symptoms in his right elbow recently and has been temporarily shut down, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

    Garcia is working his way back from a sprained left ankle, but his rehab will be halted due to an elbow issue. The Blue Jays medical staff will evaluate Garcia in the coming days, after which there should be more information regarding the severity of the setback.

    Nationals' Brad Lord: Stepping into rotation

    Lord will fill the fifth spot in Washington's rotation, Spencer Nusbaum of The Washington Post reports.

    Lord made six trips through the rotation from April to early May before being bumped to the bullpen. He logged a 1-4 record with a 4.44 ERA and a 21:9 K:BB across 26.1 innings as a starter. Lord has posted a 2.70 ERA in 36,2 innings of relief since. He'll return to the rotation coming out of the All-Star break after Shinnosuke Ogasawara was optioned to Triple-A Rochester. Lord is on track to start during a three-game home series against Cincinnati early next week. Per Byron Kerr of MLB.com, Lord will throw 45-to-50 pitches in his first start.

    Giants' Matt Gage: Call-up official

    The Giants selected Gage's contract from Triple-A Sacramento on Friday

    Gage will take Scott Alexander's spot on the 40- and 26-man rosters ahead of the series opener against Toronto on Friday. The 32-year-old latched on with the Giants on July 3 after starting the 2025 season with Detroit. He hasn't allowed a run in 5.1 innings with Sacramento this season and tallied a 1.67 ERA in 32.1 innings with the Tigers' Triple-A affiliate in Toledo.

    Nationals' Derek Law: Undergoing season-ending surgery

    Law (forearm) has a partial tear of his right flexor tendon and will undergo season-ending surgery to repair it, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

    Law is shooting for a mid-season return in 2026, as he'll undergo a procedure to repair a torn flexor tendon in his throwing arm. The 33-year-old had already been sidelined for the entirety of the campaign with forearm inflammation. He will be a free agent at the conclusion of the 2025 season.

    Guardians' Nic Enright: Joining Guardians

    Cleveland recalled Enright from Triple-A Columbus on Friday.

    Paul Sewald (shoulder) was placed on the IL during the All-Star break, opening up a spot for Enright on the active roster. In 12 appearances for the Guardians this season, Enright has a 1.88 ERA and a 14:7 K:BB across 14.1 innings.

    Mets' Jose Butto: Rehab moved to Syracuse

    Butto's (illness) rehab assignment will continue at Triple-A Syracuse on Friday.

    Butto made an appearance with the Mets' Florida Complex League affiliate Tuesday and will continue his rehab stint at Triple-A. Considering he's recovering from an illness instead of a physical injury, Butto likely won't need more than one or two more rehab appearances before being activated.

    Mets' Brooks Raley: Activated from IL

    The Mets reinstated Raley (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Friday.

    Raley's recovery from Tommy John surgery is complete, and he'll join the Mets' active roster coming out of the All-Star break. He made eight appearances during a minor-league rehab assignment that spanned three levels, throwing nine scoreless innings with a 13:1 K:BB. Richard Lovelady was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

  • Angels' Ryan Zeferjahn: Starting bullpen game

    Zeferjahn will start Friday's game against the Phillies, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.

    Zeferjahn will serve as an opener Friday, marking his first big-league start. The 27-year-old owns a 5.66 ERA and a 41:22 K:BB across 35 innings in 2025. He's completed two innings in just one of his 40 appearances.

    Gage is expected to have his contract selected by the Giants on Friday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

    Gage inked a minor-league contract with San Francisco on July 3 after being designated for assignment by the Tigers. The 32-year-old pitched six scoreless innings for Detroit this season and hasn't allowed a run in 5.1 innings with Triple-A Sacramento.
