Bubic (3-1) allowed one run on four hits and two walks while striking out seven over seven innings to earn the win over the Mariners on Sunday.

Bubic turned in his fourth quality start of the season to pick up his first win since April 10 against the White Sox. The southpaw threw 63 of 94 pitches for strikes in this outing and limited the damage to a run-scoring fielder's choice in the third inning. Bubic lowered his ERA to 3.32 with a 1.13 WHIP and 42:19 K:BB across 40.2 innings over seven starts this season. While the walk rate is a still a bit lofty at 4.2 BB/9, he's been effective at limiting damage. Bubic's next start is projected to be at home versus the Tigers.

Castillo (0-3) allowed four runs on six hits, two walks and a hit-by-pitch while striking out five over six innings to take the loss Sunday versus the Royals.

Castillo was doing fine until the fourth inning, when he allowed four straight batters to reach base to open the inning. Three of them came around to score, and the Royals tacked on an extra run in the sixth. Castillo has allowed at least four runs in five of his seven starts this season, though this is the third time he's allowed four earned runs. He has a 6.29 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 31:13 K:BB through 34.1 innings. Until Castillo is able to limit baserunners better, he is likely to continue having trouble preventing runs. His next start is projected to be on the road versus the White Sox.

Civale (3-1) earned the win Sunday, allowing one run on seven hits and two walks over six innings against the Guardians. He struck out three.

Civale was steady, working through traffic as a Chase DeLauter solo shot in the fifth inning served as the only blemish on his line while the veteran right-hander picked up his third win of the season. Inked to a one-year deal in February, Civale has delivered solid results in his first season with the Athletics, posting a 2.95 ERA and 1.34 WHIP while carrying a .304 BABIP, his highest mark since 2020, across 36.2 innings (seven starts). The 30-year-old's next start is tentatively scheduled for Saturday against the Orioles.

Kochanowicz (2-1) took the loss Sunday, allowing two runs on five hits, three walks and a hit-by-pitch over 6.1 innings against the Mets. He struck out six.

Kochanowicz was saddled with the loss despite a respectable effort, as a fourth-inning Mark Vientos two-run homer accounted for the only damage on his line Sunday. Since allowing five earned runs across four innings in his season debut, Kochanowicz has quietly been effective, completing at least 5.2 innings in each start since and now owning a 3.05 ERA and 1.21 WHIP across 41.1 innings (seven starts). The 25-year-old struck out six against the Mets but hasn't relied heavily on strikeouts and could stand to cut down on the walks, as evidenced by a 30:21 K:BB. He's tentatively scheduled to start Saturday against the Blue Jays.

Matz didn't factor into the decision Sunday against the Giants, allowing one run on four hits and two walks with one strikeout across six innings.

The Giants entered Sunday 29th in OPS as a team, and they managed to score two total runs in the three-game set with Tampa Bay. Matz was just the latest starter to sit San Francisco down with relative ease. The left-hander has now posted back-to-back quality starts, though he clearly didn't have the strikeout stuff going Sunday. Matz has been solid in his return to starting this season, registering a 4-1 record, 3.86 ERA and 28:13 K:BB across 37.1 innings. He's lined up to start in Boston during next weekend's four-game series.

Gray (hamstring) will throw a bullpen session Monday, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Gray will throw off a mound for the second time in four days, after he faced batters Friday. Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy said the club will evaluate the right-hander and discuss next steps following Monday's session. The first day that Gray can be activated from the 15-day injured list will be Wednesday, and Gray could be in play to start the Red Sox's series finale in Detroit that day. If the Red Sox elect to give Gray more time to build back up before activating him, Jake Bennett would be in line for another turn through the rotation Wednesday.

The Red Sox promoted Eyanson from High-A Greenville to Double-A Portland on Sunday, Ari Alexander of 7 News Boston reports.

Eyanson will make the leap to the Double-A level after dominating to the tune of a 0.44 ERA, 0.50 WHIP and 34:3 K:BB in 20.1 innings spanning five starts with Greenville to open the season. The No. 87 overall pick in the 2025 First-Year Player Draft, Eyanson, 21, is quickly establishing himself as one of the top pitching prospects in the Red Sox organization.

Murphy was promoted to Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports.

Murphy will make his way to Charlotte after posting a 3.99 ERA and 1.19 WHIP with 21 strikeouts over 29.1 innings in five starts with Double-A Birmingham this season. The southpaw is now just one step away from potentially making his major-league debut down the road this season.

Suarez isn't expected to require an MRI for the right hamstring injury he sustained in Sunday's 3-1 extra-inning loss to the Astros and expects to be ready to go for his next scheduled start, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Suarez was lifted in the fifth inning due to hamstring tightness, but the Red Sox don't view the issue as being significant enough to warrant imaging. The 30-year-old lefty was confident following Sunday's game that he will avoid a stint on the injured list, noting that he was able to pitch through a similar injury last season, per Marcos Grunfeld of ElEmergente.com. Suarez is set to remain in Boston while the team travels to Detroit for a three-game set beginning Monday. The southpaw will be monitored by the training staff, and the hope is that he'll be good to go the next time his turn in the rotation comes up Friday at home versus the Rays.

Fried didn't factor into the decision Sunday against the Orioles, allowing three runs on six hits and three walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out six.

After holding opponents scoreless over 14 innings in his previous two starts, Fried matched his season high in both walks and hits allowed Sunday, though the Yankees would rally late in an eventual 11-3 victory. Fried has delivered quality starts in six of his eight outings to open the year, posting a 2.39 ERA with a 0.89 WHIP and 43:15 K: BB across 52.2 innings. The left-hander is currently lined up to face the Brewers on the road his next time out.
