The Athletics placed Medina on the 15-day injured list Monday due to a blister on his right index finger.

Medina presumably picked up the injury during his most recent start versus the Orioles on Friday, when he lasted just three innings while giving up four runs (three earned) on five hits. Reliever Spencer Patton was brought up from Triple-A Las Vegas to take Medina's place on the roster. Medina's placement on the IL is retroactive to Saturday, so he won't be eligible for activation until Sept. 3.

Hancock was placed on the 15-day injured list Monday with a right shoulder strain.

Hancock left Sunday's game with the injury, and he will wind up missing at least a couple weeks. He will presumably be replaced in the rotation by Bryan Woo (forearm), who is nearly ready to return from the injured list.

Quantrill (shoulder) tossed 5.1 innings and struck out three while giving up six earned runs on six hits and three walks in his third rehab start Sunday for Triple-A Columbus.

The Guardians were likely hoping for a sharper outing for Quantrill on Sunday in what's expected to be his final rehab start, but despite his struggles, the right-hander still managed to build up to 84 pitches (54 strikes). Assuming Quantrill checked out fine physically following the start for Columbus, he'll likely be activated from the 15-day injured list over the upcoming weekend to make his next appearance with the Guardians during their series in Toronto. Unless the Guardians elect to expand their rotation to six men, either Noah Syndergaard or Xzavion Curry would seemingly be most at risk of ceding his starting role to Quantrill.

Miller (elbow) surrendered two earned runs on three hits and one walk while striking out two over 1.2 innings Sunday in his second rehab start with Single-A Stockton.

Miller tossed three more pitches (32) than he did in his first rehab appearance with Stockton on Wednesday, but he recorded one fewer out Sunday while putting four runners on base in the abbreviated start. The Athletics could look to have Miller work on four or five days' rest in his next rehab outing and he aims to get stretched back out for starting duty after having been shelved since May 11 with a sprained right elbow. An early September return from the 60-day injured list still looks to be realistic for the 24-year-old right-hander.

Giolito and the Angels won't play the Reds on Monday after the game was postponed due to inclement weather in Anaheim, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

With Hurricane Hilary bringing heavy rainfall to Southern California, the Reds and Angels will wait until Tuesday to begin their three-game series. Monday's postponement will be made up as part of a doubleheader Wednesday. Expect the Angels to move Giolito back one day in the pitching schedule to take the hill Tuesday.

Hancock, who exited Sunday's start against the Astros after two innings due to a shoulder/lat injury, could be headed for a stint on the injured list, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

The rookie felt something "kind of grab" in his lat after he fired a scoreless second inning, per manager Scott Servais, leading to the decision to end his afternoon early. Hancock got his 2023 season off to a delayed start because of a lat strain he suffered during minor-league minicamp in February, and he's battled shoulder issues since he was drafted in 2020. The right-hander is still officially considered day-to-day for the moment, but Divish notes it's "likely" Hanock heads to the IL in coming days and the Mariners temporarily adjust their plans for a six-man rotation.

Woo (forearm) may be activated to start in the Mariners' three-game set against the White Sox beginning Monday after recovering well from Thursday's 20-pitch bullpen session, MLB.com reports.

Manager Scott Servais confirmed Woo was feeling "really good" Saturday -- about 48 hours removed from the session -- and was projected to be activated to start either Tuesday or Wednesday against the White Sox. However, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports the Mariners' short-term pitching plans may have to be adjusted with Emerson Hancock potentially heading to the injured list due to a lat strain that forced his early exit from Sunday's start. Per Divish, that will definitively scrap Seattle's plans for a six-man rotation for the moment, and it may require the team to add a reliever for at least a couple of games before Woo is reinstated.

Lyles dropped to 3-14 in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Cubs after allowing four runs on five hits and a walk while striking out two over eight innings.

Interestingly enough, Lyles is now tied with Sandy Alcantara for the league lead with three complete games this season after going the distance for the second time in his last three starts. However, each time Lyles has lasted the whole game, he's lost. The Cubs jumped on him with two quick runs in the first and then padded the lead with a solo home run in the fifth and eighth innings. Lyles has now given up multiple home runs in consecutive games and sits at a 6.07 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 93:37 K:BB over 139.1 innings. His next start is expected to come next weekend versus the Mariners.

Keuchel (1-1) earned the win Sunday, allowing one hit and zero walks over 6.1 scoreless innings in a 2-0 victory over the Pirates. He struck out three.

Keuchel had not allowed a baserunner through six, then was removed with one out in the seventh after Bryan Reynolds broke up the perfect game with a double. Keuchel, making just his third start for the Twins since initially inking a minor-league deal in June, threw a season-high 85 pitches and recorded his first three strikeouts of the campaign. Prior to joining the Twins, Keuchel had recorded a 1.13 ERA over 32 innings in Triple-A, hinting that the 2015 Cy Young award winner may still have something to offer. He'll face a much stiffer test in his next projected start during a weekend series at home against the Rangers.

Ryu (2-1) earned the win Sunday, allowing two unearned runs on four hits and one walk over five innings against the Reds. He struck out seven.

Holding a 9-2 lead after five, there was no need for the Blue Jays to extend Ryu, as they continue to play it safe with the 36-year-old lefty who has looked solid in four starts since returning from Tommy John surgery. An even better sign for Ryu was the seven strikeouts he recorded in five innings after having recorded eight total in his previous 14 innings. Ryu will look to increase his workload next week in a start tentatively scheduled for Saturday at home against Cleveland.
