Brito was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday.

Ron Marinaccio was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move, as Brito presumably takes on a long-relief role for New York in the short term. Luis Severino has really struggled lately, giving up 27 earned runs in 21.2 innings over his last five starts, but there has not been any word of him getting removed from the rotation.

The Rays acquired Civale from the Guardians on Monday in exchange for first baseman Kyle Manzardo (undisclosed), Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Tampa Bay will surrender one of its top position prospects in Manzardo to bolster its injury-laden rotation with the addition of Civale, who is under club control through 2025 and has quietly performed as a frontline starter since making his return from the 15-day injured list June 2. Over his final 11 starts with Cleveland, Civale submitted a 2.24 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 50:20 K:BB in 64.1 innings. Though most of Civale's underlying numbers this season (3.67 xERA, 3.55 FIP) suggest that he's pitching over his head, his stellar control and command have long helped him make up for a lack of swing-and-miss stuff. He made his last start with Cleveland on Sunday, so he's unlikely to make his Rays debut until this weekend's series in Detroit.

Urquidy (shoulder) covered five innings and allowed five runs on nine hits and no walks while striking out three in his rehab start Sunday for Triple-A Sugar Land.

The Astros probably wanted to see a stronger showing from Urquidy in what was likely his fourth and final rehab start at Sugar Land, but there were some silver linings from the outing. Only one of the nine hits he allowed went for extra bases, and the right-hander was able to build up his pitch count to 76 while consistently throwing strikes throughout the day. Assuming he experiences no setbacks with his shoulder coming out of a bullpen session in the next day or two, Urquidy should be cleared to return from the 60-day injured list to make his first start for Houston since April 30. He tentatively lines up for a return to the big-league rotation this weekend on the road versus the Yankees.

Turnbull (neck) made his second rehab start Sunday for High-A West Michigan, covering three innings and allowing two runs on two hits and no walks while striking out four.

After tossing two scoreless frames for West Michigan in his first rehab start last Tuesday, Turnbull worked a little longer Sunday and was mostly effective during the 34-pitch outing, with a two-run first-inning home run representing the only damage against him. Expect the Tigers to transfer Turnbull's rehab assignment to Double-A Erie or Triple-A Toledo later this week as he continues to get stretched back out following a lengthy layoff due to a neck injury. The Tigers wouldn't appear to have room in the rotation for Turnbull at the moment, but that could change quickly if Detroit moves Eduardo Rodriguez and/or Michael Lorenzen ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline.

Bielak (5-6) took the loss Sunday, allowing six runs (three earned) on eight hits and three walks over five innings against the Rays. He struck out four.

After being tagged for six runs (three earned) in his last start, Bielak surrendered six more against the Rays on Sunday. He struggled with control once again, allowing three or more walks for the fifth time in his last six starts, and now owns an ugly 59:33 K:BB through 74.2 innings (14 appearances). With Jose Urquidy (shoulder) set to return to the Astros rotation this week, Bielak will likely be the odd man out and retreat to the bullpen.

Maeda (2-6) was hit with the loss Sunday against the Royals after allowing two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out seven in five innings.

Maeda put together another solid outing and has now registered at least seven strikeouts in four of his last five starts. He wound up with the loss after the Twins managed just one run and let in runs of his own on a homer in the second and a pair of hits in the third. Maeda has had the fortune of facing some of the league's weaker offenses over the last month, but he's certainly provided mixed-league value and will look to get back in the win column (he hasn't won since July 4) in a home start against the Diamondbacks next weekend.

Kopech (4-10) was handed the loss Sunday against the Guardians after allowing three runs on four hits and five walks while striking out two in five innings.

Kopech had a troublesome second inning after he issued four walks to put the Guardians in front 1-0. He settled down in the second and third before allowing solo home runs to Steven Kwan and Jose Ramirez in the fifth. It has been a rough handful of starts for Kopech since returning from the IL on July 14. In four starts since coming back, the 27-year-old owns a 6.30 ERA, 1.90 WHIP and 12:14 K:BB in 16.1 innings. Kopech is expected to take the bump against the Guardians once again next weekend and will look to come out with a better result.

Civale (5-2) earned the win Sunday over the White Sox after tossing six shutout innings while allowing three hits and two walks. He struck out four.

Civale worked an efficient outing after needing only 81 pitches to complete six frames. He allowed five hits or less in each of his six starts in July and capped things off this month with his fourth quality start. There have been rumblings that Civale could be on the move after his recent success. He finishes July going 3-0 with a 1.45 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 25:7 K:BB in 37.1 innings. He's tentatively lined up for another weekend start against the White Sox.

Skubal allowed four runs on six hits across 4.2 innings and did not factor into the decision in Sunday's game against the Marlins. He had no walks and struck out four.

One game after logging five scoreless innings to earn his first win of the season, Skubal was less dominant Sunday, and he failed to complete five innings for the fourth time in five starts. The Tigers are being cautious with their lefty in his return from flexor tendon surgery, and he was limited to 77 pitches in this one. Skubal can be a good fantasy pitcher, though his workload restrictions cap his upside at the moment, and that may not change until 2024. He's tentatively set to take the mound again next Sunday against the Rays.

Castillo (7-7) yielded two hits and a walk over six scoreless innings Sunday, striking out seven and earning a win over Arizona.

Castillo retired the last eight batters he faced and allowed just one Diamondback to reach scoring position in his dominant outing. He's issued two or fewer walks in seven straight outings, posting a 48:6 K:BB during that stretch. His season ERA is down to an impressive 2.88 with a 149:33 K:BB through 131.1 innings. Castillo's next start is projected to be on the road against the Angels.
